Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Uncontroversial technical requests
- Public transport in Marseille (currently a redirect to Transport in Marseille) → Transport in Marseille (move · discuss) – A standard Wikipedia article on transport in a city would be titled "Transport in Blahblah", not public transport etc. Also, the article covers more than just public transport, hence the new title. Contested technical requests
- Public transport in Timișoara (currently a redirect to STPT (transport operator)) → Societatea de Transport Public Timișoara (currently a redirect instead to STPT (transport operator)) (move · discuss) – If this was a page solely about public transport in Timișoara then the current title would make sense. Even then, I would prefer "Transport in Timișoara". However this article is clearly just about the transit company, hence the new title. Tbf69 09:24, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
- If the main provider of public transport in the city is that organisation, then it's reasonable that everything in the article will have something to do with that organisation. If there is any provision of public transport that is not already mentioned in the article, we can try to add it, and then there probably be no objections to either the current title, or the shorter version you propose. But the name you propose is longer, harder to understand, and limiting of the scope of the article. Thoughts? Dr. Vogel (talk) 10:55, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
- I understand your concern. In that case, perhaps Transport in Timișoara makes more sense. Tbf69 11:00, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
- I agree that's better than the original proposal, but I'd be a bit apprehensive about renaming it to just "transport", given that it doesn't cover non-public transport. Dr. Vogel (talk) 11:17, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
- This was moved back in 2018 and 2020, but probably needs wider discussion in any case. -Kj cheetham (talk) 11:29, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
