Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Uncontroversial technical requests
- Nick Carter (singer) (currently a redirect to Nick Carter) → Nick Carter (move · discuss) – 2/2; per RM В²C ☎ 04:01, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
- Nick Carter → Nick Carter (disambiguation) (move · discuss) – 1/2; per RM В²C ☎ 04:01, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
- United States Congress Office of Compliance (currently a redirect to Office of Congressional Workplace Rights) → Office of Congressional Workplace Rights (move · discuss) – The name of the office changed as noted in the article. 2600:1003:B002:6509:1CD6:8C35:78FD:3FA (talk) 23:56, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
- Administrator of Ascension (currently a redirect to Governor of Ascension) → Governor of Ascension (move · discuss) – Prior to 2009 Ascension Island was a dependency of Saint Helena and therefore directly represented by the Governor of Saint Helena. The St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha Constitution Order 2009 made Saint Helena, Ascension, and Tristan da Cunha equal constituent parts of the territory with their own governments and established the position of Governor of Ascension with the Administrator of Ascension having day to day responsibility. Contested technical requests
- Blind soccer (currently a redirect to Blind football) → Blind football (move · discuss) – Blind football is simply a redirect page to Blind soccer, and the former is a more common name for this Paralympic sport than the latter. TLSOSLT (talk) 18:00, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
- This sounds like a WP:ENGVAR matter. We don't base that kind of decision on which variation is more common. Note, per an article talk page comment, that there is also a Paralympic association football article. — BarrelProof (talk) 20:18, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thai Massage (currently a redirect to Traditional Thai massage) → Thai Massage (film) (move · discuss) – The traditional practice of Thai massage might also be considered a proper noun and capitalised (e.g. [1], [2]), and thus in this case WP:DIFFCAPS is not adequate for differentiating the topics. Thai Massage should either be a redirect to Thai massage or a disambiguation page. Optimally this should be performed by an admin who can also do a history split, moving only the revisions from 19 January 2023 onwards. Thank you. Paul_012 (talk) 14:44, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
- Comment I don't see any need to do a split, given there's almost nothing pre 19 January 2023. I also don't see any need for a disamb page, hatnotes would be sufficient. -Kj cheetham (talk) 15:25, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
- It's not actually needed for attribution purposes or anything; I just tend to be annoyed when a redirect's old history is moved elsewhere, making it confusing when inspecting old page versions. (Of course, it's something that happens all the time with round-robin swaps, so there's not much point in complaining.) --Paul_012 (talk) 18:51, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Paul 012: I've just now added hatnotes to each of the 2 articles, so I believe WP:DIFFCAPS is now adequate in this case. Station1 (talk) 22:49, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
- I also contest per DIFFCAPS. --В²C ☎ 04:04, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
