Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Uncontroversial technical requests
- History of Sino-Russian relations → History of Sino–Russian relations (currently a redirect back to History of Sino-Russian relations) (move · discuss) – Use an en dash between the names of nations or nationalities when referring to an association between them (MOS:DUALNATIONALITIES). Hey man im josh (talk) 19:38, 21 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Hey man im josh: Do you have any comments on this original rationale? (I'm not smart enough in this area to know.) -2pou (talk) 22:05, 21 June 2023 (UTC)
- @2pou I think he's right here for sure in his request, the original rationale is wrong, as "Sino" should not be a modifier of "Russia", as we are not talking about groups of Chinese Russians; the thing that's tripping me up is that it makes more sense to move the title to "history of China–Russia relations". aaronneallucas (talk) 05:22, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- Sino- is the same as the Franco- example in MOS:DUALNATIONALITIES ("Wrong: Franco–British rivalry; Franco- is a combining form, not an independent word, so use a hyphen: Franco-British rivalry"). @User:Aplucas0703 (aaronneallucas): I just want to mention that there was a related but different case at Talk:Sino-Soviet relations last year, which suggests that other wording might run into controversy as well. Adumbrativus (talk) 07:20, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- Given the amount of discussion here, is this a WP:PCM? -Kj cheetham (talk) 09:16, 23 June 2023 (UTC)

- Lorimar Television → Lorimar (move · discuss) – As short article titles go per the WP policies of precise and consistency, this title fits perfectly, as it has changed names and breeded grounds for page-move vandalism. Intrisit (talk) 20:43, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- Not sure of the merits of the move, but it doesn't appear to be reverting an undiscussed move... — Amakuru (talk) 22:15, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- Nicky Hilton Rothschild (currently a redirect to Nicky Hilton) → Nicky Hilton (move · discuss) – Per COMMONNAME. More known as her maiden name DrKilleMoff (talk) 22:23, 22 June 2023 (UTC) DrKilleMoff (talk) 22:23, 22 June 2023 (UTC)

- Jamsrangiin Tseveen (currently a redirect to Tsyben Zhamtsarano) → Tsyben Zhamtsarano (move · discuss) – WP:COMMONNAME in scholarly sources. — Goszei (talk) 02:21, 21 June 2023 (UTC)
- Noting Talk:Jamsrangiin_Tseveen#Name. -Kj cheetham (talk) 09:26, 21 June 2023 (UTC)
- Goszei, given previous discussion, please click "discuss" to open a full WP:RM if you want to continue. -Kj cheetham (talk) 09:17, 23 June 2023 (UTC)

- Valley of the Fallen → Valley of Cuelgamuros (currently a redirect back to Valley of the Fallen) (move · discuss) – WP:COMMONNAME, the official name has changed. — DaddyCell (talk) 18:07, 21 June 2023 (UTC)
- This is probably not uncontroversial, especially given there's been a previous RM. -Kj cheetham (talk) 18:19, 21 June 2023 (UTC)
- previous RM; ineligible for RM/TR Sennecaster (Chat) 03:13, 22 June 2023 (UTC)

- Frankie Jonas → Franklin Jonas (currently a redirect back to Frankie Jonas) (move · discuss) – The subject of the article recently launched a music career under the latter name (their birth name). "Frankie Jonas" can be kept as a redirect. SaltieChips (talk) 2:05, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- Need some evidence that WP:NAMECHANGES is satisfied here. I'm seeing quite a few recent sources using Frankie, so I'd tend to oppose. — Amakuru (talk) 09:17, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- SaltieChips, it's potentially too soon to do this move. Please click on the "discuss" link to open a full WP:RM if you still want to pursue it. Kj cheetham (talk) 09:25, 23 June 2023 (UTC)

- Somerset County Council (currently a redirect to Somerset Council) → Somerset Council (move · discuss) – overriding redirect A.D.Hope (talk) 15:49, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- See discussion at Talk:Somerset Council#Somerset Council and Somerset Council A.D.Hope (talk) 21:52, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- This was discussed at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject UK geography#Unitary county councils: separate articles or not? with a consensus to merge as such. Crouch, Swale (talk) 22:09, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- Personally I'm happy to let the new discussion run — the UK Geography one really only involved three editors (including ourselves), so it's not very representative. A.D.Hope (talk) 22:36, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- The fact there's been previous discussion means it's a WP:PCM and needs a full WP:RM to process it. -Kj cheetham (talk) 09:26, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
