Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

Technical requests
Uncontroversial technical requests
- John the Revelator (song) (currently a redirect to John the Revelator (disambiguation)) → John the Revelator (Blind Willie Johnson song) (currently a redirect instead to John the Revelator (folk/blues song)) (move · discuss) – Further disambiguation required. 2A00:23C6:880C:E101:2410:4E1C:A44:9EC6 (talk) 08:38, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
- Eve, Psyche and the Bluebeard's Wife (currently a redirect to Eve, Psyche & the Bluebeard's Wife) → Eve, Psyche & the Bluebeard's Wife (move · discuss) – WP:COMMONNAME benǝʇᴉɯ 08:27, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
- Orlando Costa (football manager) (currently a redirect to Orlando Costa) → Orlando Costa (move · discuss) – Current page for "Orlando Costa" is a redirect to "Orlando da Costa", a Portuguese writer. Now, a page exists with the base name 'Orlando Costa', and should have the base, non-disambiguated name with a hatnote to "Orlando da Costa". Debartolo2917 (talk) 05:01, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
- 2023 Cricket World Cup Final (currently a redirect to 2023 Cricket World Cup final) → 2023 Cricket World Cup final (move · discuss) – Consistency with other pages in Category:Cricket World Cup finals. Hey man im josh (talk) 02:27, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Hey man im josh: It should have been reverted into its redirect state. There is a long edit history from the pages' creator on this which resulted in an AfD that closed with a 'redirect' outcome. There no new significant additions that's back by sources. – robertsky (talk) 03:24, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
- Avitak (currently a redirect to Blue Dream Melody) → AIDAvita (currently a redirect instead to Blue Dream Melody) (move · discuss) – The ship has not re-entered service under new name. Articles should be aT best-known name per WP:NC and WP:SHIPNAME Davidships (talk) 10:54, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
Contested technical requests
- Varsity team → Varsity (move · discuss) – This is the main page on the subject. The previous page called "Varsity" has been moved to Varsity (disambiguation) as it was a disambiguation page. Mn1548 (talk) 17:06, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
- The disambiguation page was moved back. There is no policy against having disambiguation pages that don't include "(disambiguation)" in their titles. — BarrelProof (talk) 02:17, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- @BarrelProof: True, there is not, but generally speaking when "topic x" has an article about it that article is called "topic x" and the page that links to similar stuff is called "topic x (disambiguation)" - that's what's going on here. The current article "Varsity" is a disambiguation page, where as the article talking about the dictionary definition of varsity is titled "Varsity team", a titles which is only applicable to the North American English definition of the word, even though it talks about the British English definition in its first section (even before I starting editing the page), as well as information about Dutch and South African varsities, also based on the British English definition. Said page is also currently tagged with "not representing a world view", and having a North American English title doesn't help. The title "Varsity" is inclusive of both British and North American English definitions. Which is why I moved "Varsity" to "Varsity (disambiguation)" to free up the title to move "Varsity team" to "Varsity". Mn1548 (talk) 15:09, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

- Leah Isadora Behn → Leah Behn (currently a redirect back to Leah Isadora Behn) (move · discuss) – WP:COMMONNAME 12u (talk) 11:47, 29 June 2023 (UTC) 12u (talk) 11:47, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
- @12u: Actually, Ghits returns significantly more for the current title than the proposed one. This is a WP:PCM. If you wish to continue with your request, click the discuss link in your request to begin a formal WP:RM discussion. Once you've done that, or if you do not wish to continue, please remove your request. Thanks! - UtherSRG (talk) 12:12, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
- Jimmy Russell → Jimmy Russell (AFL) (move · discuss) – I plan to add a page for another Jimmy Russell (James C. Russell of Wild Turkey (bourbon)) either under Jimmy Russell or adding (Wild Turkey), (Bourbon), or (Master Distiller) afterward to provide more differentiation from the current Jimmy Russell page and the other current Jimmy Russell page: Jimmy Russell (rugby league).

- Until you have created the new article, the current arrangement suffice per WP:ONEOTHER. – robertsky (talk) 16:56, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
- Face 2 Face (Juice Wrld song) → Face 2 Face (song) (currently a redirect back to Face 2 Face (Juice Wrld song)) (move · discuss) – This should be moved to this because this is the only song article with the name Face 2 Face. It was previously already moved to this through this move request system, but the move was wrongfully reverted for not using the system, which was not true. This is an easy case. Please also make sure to edit it to the new name in the templates of the artists after you move the article. 70.113.0.198 (talk) 00:52, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- @70.113.0.198:, do you have a link to the RM? I don't see it in either page's history, nor do I see any indication that an RM has occurred. EggRoll97 (talk) 01:02, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- The first move was done on request at this venue: Special:Diff/1129384803. This was then reverted in less than a month later, Special:Permalink/1131085516. – robertsky (talk) 01:10, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- The previous move was done correctly and further moves without further discussion is contentious. – robertsky (talk) 01:05, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

- Rankinia → Mountain dragon (currently a redirect back to Rankinia) (move · discuss) – Common name for taxon used much more commonly than genus name Chumzwumz68 (talk) 22:23, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Chumzwumz68: My Gsearch for "Mountain dragon" "lizard" return 33k hits, while my Gsearch for "Rankinia" returns 48k, making the current title more fitting to WP:COMMONNAME. This is a WP:PCM. - MHPArena (Stuttgart) (currently a redirect to MHPArena) → MHPArena (move · discuss) – According to MOS:PRIMARYTOPIC, MHPArena (Stuttgart) must be moved to MHPArena. 82.563 pageviews for the stadium in Stuttgart during the last year (with the former name) but only 2.193 pageviews for Arena Ludwigsburg during the last year Yoda1893 (talk) 22:05, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- Has WP:NAMECHANGES been met here for a change from the previous name? I feel like this could use a full RM just to clear that up, though the current title is not the best for the article. Skarmory (talk • contribs) 22:20, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- The name is already changed on the actual building (you can see it on the picture) Nobody will call this stadium Mercedes-Benz Arena anymore now after MHP (a Porsche company) got the naming rights. Common sense tells us that journalists will immediately use the new name, just like they did the last time. There is no popular name which could be used more often than the official name because the last two names already were sponsored names. Some supporters like to call it Neckarstadion but there isn't any single English source which would call it by a name which wasn't used since 1993. So journalists will obviously go with MHPArena from the start. --Yoda1893 (talk) 22:40, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Yoda1893: My Gsearch for "Mercedes-Benz Arena" "Ludwigsburg" returns about 3x the number of results that my Gsearch for "MHP Area" does. This is a WP:PCM.
