New page reviewer

I particularly enjoy helping new editors who are figuring out Wikipedia still, but have a strong passion for learning how to help the encyclopedia. I can more closely relate to these users because I myself was one only a year ago, and after this last year I feel confident in my knowledge on article creation, deletion as well as Wikipedia’s notability guidelines.

There have been ups and down this last year. Don’t get me wrong! Some articles I have learned are not quite ready to stand alone, and others almost seem to write themselves. I am not perfect, and I am still learning every day. However, this is exactly why I think helping out new editors would be a role I’d find very fulfilling. I want to help people learn to edit for Wikipedia — not get overwhelmed by the process.

Thank you! 4theloveofallthings (talk) 14:06, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for volunteering, 4theloveofallthings, and especially for doing so with helping new users in mind. I wish I could grant you the right, but you don't appear to have the kind of previous experience that would let us assess whether you meet the criteria: you haven't been particularly active at AfD, AfC or in writing your own articles. For that reason, I'm afraid I have to say  Not done for now. I'd suggest trying out one of those other areas to build some experience first – AfD+AfC is usually the most helpful combination. – Joe (talk) 13:25, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have joined Wikipedia since 2021 and I have created 200+ articles. I want to focus more on reviewing new pages to help reduce the workload. Thank you Ibjaja055 (talk) 19:44, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Ibjaja055: Ideally I'd like to see a bit more activity at AfD or AfC first, but given your excellent record of article creation, I can grant you a trial for the duration of the upcoming backlog drive. Thanks for volunteering. Please come back here to request the right is made permanent at the end of your trial, if you are interested in continuing.  Done. – Joe (talk) 13:51, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for the opportunity @Joe Roe. Ibjaja055 (talk) 14:17, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for requesting new page reviewer rights: Going to help with the New Pages backlog in October, only temporary rights would be needed during this initiative. Would request permanent later if I'm able to continue and the need still exists. cliffsteinman -- Discuss 05:33, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, you don't meet the minimum criterion of 500 mainspace edits.  Not done. – Joe (talk) 07:35, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I had a temporary new page patroller in the past for this purpose... cliffsteinman -- Discuss 04:42, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nevertheless, it really is a minimum. – Joe (talk) 13:26, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I was granted NPR rights a month ago, which expired yesterday. I'd like to remain an NPR and help with the October backlog drive. – dudhhr talkcontribssheher 15:48, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. I'm sorry, but your draftify log shows too high of an error rate for me: Niketan (draftified one minute after creation), Draft:2023 Kill the Chickens Protests (draftified three minutes after creation), Draft:Jesse W. Moore (draftified 36 minutes after creation), Draft:Moskapur (draftified twice), Draft:I Must Betray You (draftified while the creator was clearly still working on it), Draft:Hirunkit Changkham (draftified two minutes after the creator's last edit), Draft:Suleman Hossain (draftified an hour after creation, despite references listed in the source bnwiki article). This is highly alienating to new users (most of those linked above abandoned the article after you draftified) and I can only conclude that you simply didn't read core NPP-related policies like WP:NPPHOUR, WP:DRAFTIFY, and WP:DRAFTOBJECT. User_talk:Dudhhr#Mary_Raine_(football) was also not great. – Joe (talk) 13:46, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Joe Roe: Thank you for the detailed explanation of your decline. – dudhhr talkcontribssheher 16:44, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have gained experience in reviewing pending changes, fighting vandalism and creation of articles. I really would love to review new articles for their adherence to different Wikipedia policies. Adilalishah 03:46, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. Thank you for your enthusiasm, but you've only been active for a few months now. Feel free to reapply in a few more after you've gained some more experience. Anarchyte (talk) 11:56, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot for your time. Adilalishah 12:39, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I am interested in becoming a New Page Reviewer and willing to help in reducing the backlog. Please review my request and guide me if I am eligible to become New Page Reviewer or not. Thanks Charsaddian (talk) 20:32, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. Considering the number of declined drafts you have with issues still unresolved, I am not convinced that you can exercise good judgment about whether a new page conforms to Wikipedia's content policies. With more time and experience, this will come. ~Anachronist (talk) 23:43, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the response. The draft you mentioned was submitted in March-23 when I just started editing Wikipedia and my understanding about different Wikipedia policies was very little. You can see that since then I have created 11 articles without any objections and my involvement in AFD and AFC has now helped me alot in getting clarity about Wikipedia guidelines. Regards Charsaddian (talk) 00:07, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have to say, Anachronist, this is a rather odd reason not to assign NPR... If someone chooses not work further on a draft after it's declined at AfC twice, isn't that just the process working as intended? Also, as far as I can tell, the number of declined drafts Charsaddian has is one and it's a genuinely tricky case. It looks like they have a AfD record (96.4% match rate with a high proportion of nominations) and, given the large backlog at the moment, if it were me I'd at least offer them a trial. Will you reconsider? – Joe (talk) 10:27, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Joe Roe Thank you for supporting my request. The declined draft was indeed a tricky one and as explained above, it was created during my early days when I had very little understanding about Wikipedia. Since the subject got alot of coverage so I assumed that the draft will be accepted quickly due to sources added. Even I argued with the first reviewer who declined the draft because that time I thought the subject meets WP:GNG and it should be enough. Charsaddian (talk) 22:45, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Joe Roe: I meant to say "number of draft declines" rather than "number of declined drafts", the last decline being this month, on a draft this editor has been attempting to improve. I am concerned that in spite of experience gained in article creation and AFD, this editor might be unfamiliar with the situation involving a new article that needs to be draftified rather than proposed for deletion or marked as reviewed. This concern remains. However, I agree to a trial.
Done. @Charsaddian: I have granted you the new page reviewer right. ~Anachronist (talk) 15:42, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @Anachronist for the support. Charsaddian (talk) 22:46, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I was previously granted NPP on probation and used it to review articles as suitable. I would appreciate if I could be granted the right permanently if an admin deems it fit. Thank you. – Isochrone (T) 16:55, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I see there is a huge back log. And with a bit of experience and interest to learn, I can be of help, if selected. thanks Davidindia (talk) 17:34, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done quite yet. I would like to see you gain some more experience first, as while you've had an account for several years, you've only really become active this month. We need to see a more consistent track record before granting. Anarchyte (talk) 10:20, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I understand I need to do a lot of home work and much more learning. I will wait, and try to work hard. thanks! Davidindia (talk) 11:34, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting this user right in response to this invitation on my user talk page. I am an experienced editor who has spent a lot of time working at AfC and would to like to become a new page reviewer to help decrease the massive backlog.
