Shortcuts
Please review the AWB guide before making a request. Users are rarely approved unless they have either 250 non-automated mainspace edits or 500 total mainspace edits. You can check your non-automated contributions on XTools. Administrators are automatically approved and do not need to request access. For bots, you must first have a bot approval request approved, or in trial; link to your BRFA in the request.
This page is for requesting AWB Access for English Wikipedia only. Other projects have their own check pages and you should ask administrators there to add you.
If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage. If you will make many or fast automated edits using AWB, you may wish to use a separate (or bot) account for that purpose; first create the account, give it a userpage declaring it to be your alternate account, then make the request using your main account.

 Not done Hi Davidindia, I would like to enable AWB for you, but I am curious about the large number of minor editing mistakes brought up on your talk page (CS1 errors and disambiguation link errors, other issues with references etc). I think I would be a bit more comfortable with enabling AWB with a month or two more of experience without making these types of errors. Well, I am doing sort of a mass China article creation by using Chinese sources and the Chinese, German, Japanese wikipedia articles. My translations are rough and I produce rather a lot of mistakes. If AWB is not appropriate for checking your own work, that's fine. It's just that copyediting can get pretty tough.
p.s. I would be willing to start editing more of the China articles I come across. Some are fairly unedited machine translations, as far as I can tell. Arrorro (talk) 12:29, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
