Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Uncontroversial technical requests
- De Havilland Canada E-9A Widget → E-9A Widget (currently a redirect back to De Havilland Canada E-9A Widget) (move · discuss) – Reviewing this recently created page as part of WP:NPP. E-9A Widget is the WP:COMMONNAME used by the sources in the article both in their titles and actual references to it. E-9A Widget currently is a redirect to De Havilland Canada E-9A Widget so I can't move it. Thank you. MolecularPilot 🧪️✈️ 03:34, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- Convention is to use the manufacturer's name in the title. See, for example, de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter and not Twin Otter. 162 etc. (talk) 17:57, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- Belgian Entertainment Association (currently a redirect to Belgian Recorded Music Association) → Belgian Recorded Music Association (move · discuss) – organisation's new name 78.82.201.71 (talk) 10:25, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- Eurocopter EC135 → Airbus Helicopters H135 (currently a redirect back to Eurocopter EC135) (move · discuss) – Airbus Helicopters H135 has been the name since 2014, when Airbus Helicopters became the owner of the helicopter. TG-article (talk to me) (contributions) 13:45, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
Contested technical requests
- Syria TV → Syrian TV (currently a redirect back to Syria TV) (move · discuss) – official name Panam2014 (talk) 22:50, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- WP:OFFICIALNAMES is not a valid reason to move this article. Please could we have some actual evidence? I'm a little confused what "Syria(n) TV" actually is, anyway. The article says it's a channel, but it seems like it might be more of a network. Also conscious that "Syrian TV" could be a wider term referencing TV in the country generally. — Amakuru (talk) 11:51, 16 December 2024 (UTC)

- John the Baptist in Islam → Yahya ibn Zakariya (currently a redirect back to John the Baptist in Islam) (move · discuss) – He has a name in Arabic and it should be used. Nobody knows him by "John the Baptist" in Islam. I would argue that "John the Baptist in Islam" violates WP:NPOV Abo Yemen✉ 12:06, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- I object to this move for two reasons:
- You have not established that this fulfills our requirement to use the most common names from English-language sources,
- It appears to violate WP:CONSISTENT, since we also have God in Islam, Jesus in Islam, Zechariah in Islam, etc.

- @Abo Yemen; your technical request has been contested and as such, you will need to use the "discuss" button in your request to open a full RM if you wish to proceed. I suggest reading WP:AT over and expanding your rationale more and how it might better fit policy/guidelines if you do wish to proceed. Sennecaster (Chat) 04:28, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
- I object to this move for two reasons:
- Mohamed Mustafa → Mohamed Mustafa (Sudanese footballer) (currently a redirect back to Mohamed Mustafa) (move · discuss) – Ambiguous. See Mohammad Mustafa (disambiguation) MSMST1543 (talk) 00:04, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
- @MSMST1543 Your move was reverted so this is not uncontroversial. You can open a discussion by clicking the "discuss" link next to your request. C F A 02:52, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
- @MSMST1543 To address the ambiguity concern, I have added a hatnote to the article that points to the disambiguation page. —C.Fred (talk) 13:38, 21 December 2024 (UTC)

- Don Det–Don Khon railway → Don Det–Don Khon Railway (move · discuss) – Capitalization of the word Railway 80.47.35.9 (talk) 13:25, 21 December 2024 (UTC) 80.47.35.9 (talk) 13:25, 21 December 2024 (UTC)

- The only reason I made this, was because the "R" on Railway should be a capital letter because Railway is always capitalised. 80.47.35.9 (talk) 16:31, 21 December 2024 (UTC)

- Spezand–Zaheden Line → Quetta–Taftan Line (currently a redirect back to Spezand–Zaheden Line) (move · discuss) – Quetta–Taftan Line is the official and common name per article and all other sources. امین اکبر (talk) 15:51, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- @امین اکبر This has been moved a few times, with no apparent discussion. Suggest opening a formal move discussion WP:RM Polyamorph (talk) 07:49, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- PlatEAU → Plateau (band) (currently a redirect back to PlatEAU) (move · discuss) – Sources on page do not use this stylized capitalization. Current title seems like an unlikely search term so does not need to be kept as a redirect. QuietHere (talk | contributions) 10:19, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- @QuietHere I don't think it's uncontroversial given the band's website did use the stylized capitalisation Polyamorph (talk) 15:44, 22 December 2024 (UTC)

- Draft:Sonic the Hedgehog (film series) (currently a redirect to Sonic the Hedgehog (film series)) → Sonic the Hedgehog (film series) (move · discuss) – Accepted AfC draft; Sonic the Hedgehog (film series), the page that this draft is intended to be moved to, is fully protected. On a side note, this draft does pass WP:FILMSERIES and addresses previous concerns outlined by other reviewers who have declined it. Thanks! ~ Tails Wx 07:25, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
