Template:Bangladeshi wedding → Template:Bengali wedding – Bengali weddings refer to the traditional wedding ceremonies of the Bengali ethnic group, who primarily reside in the Bengal region, which spans both India and Bangladesh. It’s important to note that the concept of Bangladesh as a separate country only emerged in 1971. Before that, the region was part of Pakistan, known as East Pakistan. Therefore, the wedding traditions are shared by Bengali people across both India and Bangladesh, as they belong to the same ethnic and cultural heritage.

To clarify, just as Korean people live in both North and South Korea, Bengali people live in both India and Bangladesh. It’s misleading to describe Bengali weddings as specific to one country alone, as this neglects the shared cultural practices of Bengali people living in both nations.

Oppose Bangladesh, as a modern republic, emerged in 1971 but it's existence as an entity dates back to ancient period. And Bangladeshi wedding also includes different non-Bengali traditions and customs so moving it to Bengali wedding would be factually inaccurate. - @LucrativeOffer: The template's Polygamy in Bangladesh links to an article strictly related to Bangladesh, not to Bengalis in general. Are any of the other topics the template links to about Bangladesh alone? --Worldbruce (talk) 04:18, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Support - Per nomination. Bengalis are an ethnolinguistic group not specific to either country. Both share cultural heritage and tradition which the wedding ceremonies are a part of.- Ratnahastin (talk) 12:24, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
