Hi here. As per K6ka complaint in my talk page, we should not archive less than 24-hour requests. Also, the maximum size of archive page is 75K (be consistent to bot). So I have moved back to 237, cheers Hhkohh (talk) 02:00, 30 January 2019 (UTC)

Abelmoschus Esculentus' User Scripts
Dear all. Recently, our community lost a dedicated user, Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk). Among their projects were a number of user scripts that they left behind. I (DannyS712) have copied the scripts, and have taken over maintaining them. You currently import one or more of Abelmoschus Esculentus' scripts, and I thought that you might want to import a maintained version. Links to each script are provided below.
If you have any questions, please reach out and talk to me. --DannyS712 (talk) 00:30, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
Please participate to the talk pages consultation
Hello
Our team at the Wikimedia Foundation is working on a project to improve the ease-of-use and productivity of wiki talk pages. As a Teahouse host, I can imagine you’ve run into challenges explaining talk pages to first-time participants.
We want all contributors to be able to talk to each other on the wikis – to ask questions, to resolve differences, to organize projects and to make decisions. Communication is essential for the depth and quality of our content, and the health of our communities. We're currently leading a global consultation on how to improve talk pages, and we're looking for people that can report on their experiences using (or helping other people to use) wiki talk pages. We'd like to invite you to participate in the consultation, and invite new users to join too.
We thank you in advance for your participation and your help.

Help with name change needed
Hi User:1997kB, I just read your message on my talk page, "A renamer or clerk has responded to your username change request, but requires clarification before moving forward. Please follow up at your username change request entry as soon as possible.". I clicked on the request but it seems it's not there any more at WP:CHU. Also see in my notifications that you asked me a question but it's not there any more either, I imagine I missed it. Can you help? Thx Myciel (talk) 13:53, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hello Myciel, Yeah I asked whether you own the Stansfield account. If you own then there's a possibility that we can merge your contributions from plwiki with enwiki. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 14:01, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks. Yes, indeed, that is my account on PL wikipedia. I didn't realise it's possible to merge them, that would indeed be perfect, thank you! Anything I need to do? ‐‐Myciel (talk) 16:51, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
- Myciel, Yes, for that you need to request on meta and comment with both accounts to confirm. Also just to aware you that you will lost 5 contributions on plwiki of this account. Also which username you want to keep in last: Myciel or Stansfield? ‐‐1997kB (talk) 00:08, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
- Okay, seems complicated but I'll try. I'd like to keep Stansfield. Thx Myciel (talk) 15:05, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
- Myciel, You need to request at this page for this. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 00:26, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
- 1997kB, back to you for support I'm afraid. I've spent the last couple of days trying to retrieve access to my old Stansfield account on PL wiki, but failed (reset the password before realising it could be sent to an old email address that doesn't exist any more). From what I read there's no way of accessing it any more now, but I read here that "Otherwise you will have to create a new account under a different username. After doing this, if a user page and user talk page were created for the old account, it is advisable to make them redirect to the equivalent pages for the new account. (To carry the content and history of these pages over to the new location, you can use the "move" function—contact an administrator if assistance is needed.)". So kind question to you is it really possible to move the history of that account to my current account, and can I still change the name of my current account to Stansfield (if I understand correctly the name is free globally, it was only used on the Polish wiki? really unclear on how that works). Thanks!! Myciel (talk) 13:07, 11 July 2019 (UTC)
- Myciel, No its not free globally, that account itself is a global account. So the issue is that without access to Stansfield account rename can't be completed. Now one option is that you keep using this account (Myciel) and redirect userpages of Stansfield on plwiki to this account (contribs will still be on old account). Other option is that we can request a password reset of Stansfield account to developers (not sure they will do, but there seems to be a clear connection between both of your accounts) and then rename can be initiated. Please reply whichever option you like to go and then I can help you with that. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 13:56, 11 July 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay in replying 1997kB, vacation. Indeed the second option would be brilliant! Luckily, in earlier versions of my user page it had my full name (Mycielski, hence Myciel) and even linked to my Facebook, so pretty easy to verify the account is mine. Worst case scenario, even if they could check which email account the password reset link went to that could do the trick (managed to log into 3 of my high school-era accounts but didn't find it there). Again, I really appreciate your help!! --Myciel (talk) 14:01, 25 July 2019 (UTC)

British Sri Lankans
i was reading through the article British Sri Lankans. There was a factual mistake in two p-laces stating the the majority of the British Tamils are Christians. This is wrong and the vast majority of the British Tamils are Hindus with a minority christian population. I know this as I am a member of this community. Please keep my editing and do not restore it — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.2.16.152 (talk) 11:03, 15 September 2019 (UTC)
- @123.2.16.152: Hi, you didn't provided a reliable source for your changes. It doesn't matter you are the member of community or not, but whatever you add should have a reliable source by which it can be verified. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 11:31, 15 September 2019 (UTC)

Username policy
Regarding your question at WP:CHUS, WP:IMPERSONATE seems to recommend against it. Even with a disclaimer on the user's page, it seems disruptive, especially in this case, where it is so specific. I responded here instead of there because I don't want to (further) antagonize the user, who was previously uncivil with me. :( —[AlanM1(talk)]— 04:29, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
Global watchlist - Update 1
Updates associated with DannyS712's Global watchlist script:
- General announcements
- Management has migrated to phabricator; to report a bug or request a feature, please create a new task with the script's tag
- Message translation has been reduced; for common messages that are already translated in mediawiki core, the system translations are used, in order to reduce duplication of efforts
- Recent additions
- New pages are shown at the start of a site's feed
- Log entries are shown at the end of a site's feed
- Basic validation has been added to user settings, applied before saving
- Site validation has also been added; a site (excluding unique projects like wikidata, meta, commons, etc.) is considered to be valid if it is the form of "language.project", where both the language code and project name are valid. It does not, however, check that the actual site is valid; only that it could be. In other words, even though
sco.wiktionary
refers to a site that doesn't exist, it is considered valid, becausesco
is a valid language code (sco.wikipedia
is a working site) andwiktionary
is a valid project.
- Announcements
- BREAKING CHANGE: Backwards compatibility supporting the use of sites as
*.*.org
(like 'en.wikipedia.org' or 'meta.wikimedia.org'), deprecated in version 1.7.5, will be removed soon; all sites should now be saved as*.*
(like 'de.wikinews' or 'fr.wikisource') - BREAKING CHANGE: Storing user sites as
window.GlobalWatchlistSites
, deprecated in version version 1.11.11, will be removed soon; all settings should be stored in thewindow.GlobalWatchlistConfig
object - Both of these breaking changes will be implemented alongside version 4.0; until then, any use of the config page (m:Special:BlankPage/GlobalWatchlistConfig) will result in saving settings in the newest format
- Next release
Version 4.0 should be released in around a week. It will include the new features mentioned above, as well as removal of backwards compatibility for settings and sites.
I've sent this first message to users that participated in the discussion at m:Community Wishlist Survey 2019/Watchlists/Revive Crosswatch tool or otherwise shown interest in the script. To subscribe or unsubscribe from future updates, see the distribution list.

Page is not showing on google
Dear sir, I created a page,The Game of Votes. But it is not showing on google.. What is the problem? Virenderthind2019 (talk) 03:39, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Virenderthind2019, Because it hasn't been reviewed yet. I've had a look and, for me, the sources which would establish that it passes the notability criteria of WP:NBOOK are concealed by the use of the following as sources:
- the book's publisher - not independent
- Amazon.com - it's a retail opportunity, not independent
- Google Books - firstly it does nothing to show notability, they list everything, and secondly it's already accessible through the ISBN links in the infobox
- Curious Reader - WP:UGC with a retail link
- Indiatimes.com - once I'd archived it (they don't like Europeans reading their stuff it seems - GDPR) it was just a rehash of the dust jacket blurb - it's pretty damning if the reviewer hasn't got past the dust jacket and the foreword.
- ptinews.com is a good source, so good that outlookindia.com, and deccanherald.com copied it word-for-word. That's one source, not three.
- sentinelassam.com quotes the author and provides less than 50 words of their own. That's not an in depth review, or anything approaching it.
- A twitter post by the author's friend - WP:UGC.
- By my count, there was just one good source among the 11 in the article, which isn't enough for WP:NBOOK. Cabayi (talk) 07:26, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
Global watchlist - Update 2
Updates associated with DannyS712's Global watchlist script:
- General notes
- To report a bug or request a feature, please create a new task on Phabricator with the script's tag
- Recent additions
- Site validation has been tightened. Previously, only the language code and project name had to be valid - now, they must be a valid combination (i.e.
en.wikiversity
exists, and so is valid, butsco.wikiversity
is not valid, because no such wiki exists). - When the global watchlist feed is loading, an OOUI widget will be shown, rather than an animated gif.
- An option has been added to no longer group edits to the same page. For now, this isn't very useful, since metadata for the edits (editor, summary, tags, etc.) are not yet shown, but they will be soon. Until then, ungrouped edits are treated the same as pages with only 1 edit - the minor and bot flags are displayed if applicable. If edits are grouped, the minor and bot flags are only shown if they apply to all of the edits.
- Upcoming changes
- Starting with version 5.0, there will be an option at the settings page to switch to and from a "stable" version of the script. When activated, the script import in your global.js should be replaced, and then the page refreshed with the new script loaded. The stable script will live at m:User:DannyS712/Global watchlist/stable.js, and will be updated with each full release. Otherwise, it shouldn't be edited, providing a version that is less prone to bugs as the script is developed.
- Announcements
- WARNING: Starting with version 5.1, the option to mark the pages of a site as seen be implemented using the
entirewatchlist
API option, rather than manually listing the titles. This is being done to simplify the implementation code. This will result in the same functionality as marking all pages as seen via Special:Watchlist (i.e. even if the page isn't visible due to your filter choices, it will still be marked as seen). If you would like to keep using the current method for a while, please switch to the stable branch.
- Next release
Version 5.0 has just gone live. It includes the new features mentioned above.

Page mover granted
Hello, 1997kB. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.
Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect
is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.
Useful links:
- Wikipedia:Requested moves
- Category:Articles to be moved, for article renaming requests awaiting action.
If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Salvio 11:33, 10 November 2019 (UTC)
ArbCom 2019 election voter message
Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
Hello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.
Thank you!

Slow renames
Hi. I noticed you recently placed by rename request on hold due to an issue with slow renames. Do you have any rough idea of when this issue will be resolved? Thanks. ElshadK (talk) 10:34, 14 December 2019 (UTC)
- @ElshadK: There's no deadline. I have filed a task on phabricator but expect it to be resolved on Monday as devs doesn't work on weekends. Regards. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 10:37, 14 December 2019 (UTC)
Slow rename
Hi I requested for renaming my username and I was asked if I'm OK in using my real name as username. I don't know where to left the message so I'm putting it here. Yeah, I'm absolutely fine with that. I read the guideline which convinced me enough that for me using my real name won't be an issue. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nurulhuda859 (talk • contribs) 14:15, 14 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Nurulhuda859: Alright I will process your request as the issue with renames resolves. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 15:24, 14 December 2019 (UTC)
Username change
Hi, I requested for my username to be changed from Whjayg → LeQuattroStagioni. Until today, there is no feedback about it. May I know when will it be done? - Jay (talk) 13:08, 16 December 2019 (UTC)
- Whjayg, See the above two discussion. Issue is still ongoing and as it's fixed those requests will be processed. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 13:38, 16 December 2019 (UTC)
Patrolling of articles
Hello! Colleague, could you please to patrol this and this articles? Thank you. — Green Zero обг 21:54, 23 December 2019 (UTC)
spi
Could you take a look at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/संदेश हिवाळे please? I wasn't compelled by the first round of evidence (and nor was RoySmith) but, after an inconclusive CU (in a case where CU is kind of expected to be inconclusive), a second round of evidence has been presented by other users which points to activity on the Hindi & Marathi wikis, wikis where I'd be totally lost. A fresh pair of eyes from someone who can give some consideration to the evidence on the other wikis would be most welcome. Thanks, Cabayi (talk) 17:23, 26 December 2019 (UTC)
- Hey Cabayi, Looking at hiwiki/mrwiki contribs I can say for sure that this is the same user.
- For eg.
- they have interest in same topics even xwiki (how many new editor have that, in my first year I didn't even knew that there are local languages wikis.),
- On mrwiki here Mahi added a youtube link and next day master account moved that link just above one line,
- On hiwiki here Mahi added content about movie on BR Ambedkar and then came back after half an hour with master account with alot of links. (and Mahi despite being a new user adding everything perfectly with not wiki-text errors on a wiki in their first few edits),
- Mahi created their first article on hiwiki with no errors (remember on same topic master is interested, and this article was also edited by master after few days. Same pattern on mrwiki, it could be coincident on one place but not this many times.),
- Even on enwiki their first edit was related to Savita Ambedkar (again perfectly wikified) - article which was heavily edited by master and socks.
- Hope this helps! ‐‐1997kB (talk) 08:05, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks, that was exactly what I needed. Cabayi (talk) 11:47, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
