Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Edit this section if you want to move a request from Uncontroversial to Contested.
Uncontroversial technical requests
- Nasmyth bridge (currently a redirect to Nasmyth Bridge) → Nasmyth Bridge (move · discuss) – Cap, this is the name of a specific bridge, not a type of bridge. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:16, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- Constitution Committee (Sweden) (currently a redirect to Committee on the Constitution) → Committee on the Constitution (move) – per Talk:Constitution Committee (Sweden)#Requested move 22 October 2020. BegbertBiggs (talk) 18:59, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- Civil Affairs Committee (currently a redirect to Committee on Civil Affairs) → Committee on Civil Affairs (move) – per Talk:Civil Affairs Committee#Requested move 22 October 2020. BegbertBiggs (talk) 18:59, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- Foreign Affairs Committee (Sweden) (currently a redirect to Committee on Foreign Affairs (Sweden)) → Committee on Foreign Affairs (Sweden) (move) – per Talk:Foreign Affairs Committee (Sweden)#Requested move 22 October 2020. BegbertBiggs (talk) 18:59, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- Justice Committee (Sweden) (currently a redirect to Committee on Justice) → Committee on Justice (move) – per Talk:Justice Committee (Sweden)#Requested move 22 October 2020. BegbertBiggs (talk) 18:59, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- Heybridge Basin, Essex (currently a redirect to Heybridge Basin) → Heybridge Basin (move · discuss) – No need for DAB per WP:UKPLACE and WP:PRECISION, base name just redirects to a place Heybridge Basin was part of but now its a separate parish with a separate article. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:00, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- Toffee Apple (album) (currently a redirect to Toffee Apple) → Toffee Apple (move · discuss) – per WP:SMALLDETAILS, the difference in capitalization is sufficient to distinguish this from Toffee apple (which redirects to Candy apple), so the disambiguator is unnecessary. — RAVENPVFF · talk · 15:29, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- 123-reg (currently a redirect to 123 Reg) → 123 Reg (move · discuss) – company changed how it formats its name Karaamies (talk) 11:21, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- Top Valley Academy (currently a redirect to Park Vale Academy) → Park Vale Academy (move · discuss) – School has been renamed Bleaney (talk) 10:58, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- Echoes (the Rapture album) (currently a redirect to Echoes (The Rapture album)) → Echoes (The Rapture album) (move · discuss) – Per WP:THE and the titles of all bands and acts starting with 'The' should not be in lowercase. Lk95 (talk) 09:50, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- American Literature (academic discipline) (currently a redirect to American literature (academic discipline)) → American literature (academic discipline) (move · discuss) – Not a proper name. 207.161.86.162 (talk) 05:41, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- Fort of Leça de Palmeira (currently a redirect to Fort of Leça da Palmeira) → Fort of Leça da Palmeira (move · discuss) – Leça da Palmeira is just the name of the civil parish the fort stands on. Both governmental sources in the article call it "Forte de Leça da Palmeira" in Portuguese, which means that it's a fort, in Leça da Palmeira. The name of the parish stays the same. I can't move the article since the target page is a redirect. RetiredDuke (talk) 16:20, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
Contested technical requests
- 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh conflict (currently a redirect to Second Nagorno-Karabakh War) → 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war (currently a redirect instead to Second Nagorno-Karabakh War) (move · discuss) – The changing of the name of this article has been discuted for half a month already and this is the most supported and safe name for now. Super Ψ Dro 13:34, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- This is most definitely not uncontroversial. Also the request at Talk:2020_Nagorno-Karabakh_conflict#Proposal:_Rename_to_"2020_Nagorno-Karabakh_War" is not yet officially closed. -Kj cheetham (talk) 14:20, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- P.S. I don't disagree with it, but it needs formally closing out first. -Kj cheetham (talk) 14:22, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- I did not know that it was necessary to close the request. I have asked an administrator to do it. Super Ψ Dro 15:20, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- I was the nominator of the move discussion, if you look at the discussion you will see that only a tiny number of editors oppose moving the name of the page. The move request is in the backlog section of Wikipedia:Requested_moves#Backlog and thus should be closed and the move effectuated.XavierGreen (talk) 15:15, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
