This page lies.

[edit]

Sure, it was well received by critics, but man, the character Abby and the playable part was so hated that mutilation of the game CD became a trend. The page undermines the severe backlash from the players, who forms the public opinion of this game. It is still famous for its terrible design, where the creators forgot that they were in "entertainment" business, and seen as an epitome of art elitism, where these "artists" think they are superior and can lecture people on how and what people should "enjoy". The page exactly does this by praising this piece repeatedly by citing awards it won and undermining the backlash by saying some players question her sexuality as if they are uneducated. 118.36.191.15 (talk) 11:52, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Are you requesting any changes in particular, or just looking for a place to air your grievances? To clarify, this article says nothing about the character's sexuality, and it does not praise her or the game; it only summarises others' reception, including awards. It also has a full paragraph about the audience backlash. Rhain (he/him) 12:26, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If the paragraph you are talking about starts with "a subset of ..." as "a full paragraph about audience backlash" which includes contents that says some players unwittingly questioning her sexuality, then I must disagree with you. Mentioning all the awards it won while minimizing the size of backlash and then continues to condescend those people by how their opinions can be proven otherwise and how some of them made death threats seems like it seeks to invalidate the backlash.
Perhaps you are right that my first comment was to express my grievance, but it was mostly initiated by a shock from reading this page after a streamer playing Last of Us part2, where thousands of people were mocking the game. This page does not capture the magnitude of backlash, or does it mention anything about the youtube trend of destroying the CD.
I was afraid of changing the article without any discussion of this, because I am unfamiliar with wiki edits, and I wanted to see how others see this. I left the comment because there was no discussion about how controversial this article is compared to the public perception. 118.36.191.15 (talk) 02:05, 23 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Again, to be clear, the article says nothing about her sexuality. The awards paragraph is separate from the player reception and is not intended to undermine it at all. If it feels like the article minimalises or invalidates the backlash, then your grievances may be with the sources; Wikipedia's role is to report on what they say, even if some readers disagree. If other reliable sources discuss the "magnitude of backlash" more (including the aforementioned "trend"), then they should be added too. Rhain (he/him) 03:44, 23 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
