Naming...

[edit]

Say, isn't the wrong solution to rename the whole band just because it doesn't fit into the naming scheme? How about moving this thing to, say, Longview (indie band)? Tierlieb 20:11, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair point. Certainly at one time the band was using the hyphen due to a legal dispute, see example logo here: http://14thfloorrecords.groupee.net/eve/ubb.x?a=cfrm&s=2171034641&f=4591034641&c=4591034641

That said, as the hyphen was only added for legal reasons, I think it's fair to keep the hyphen in the title and use the band's "real" name in the rest of the article. Bobalo 29 October 2007.

Can I bring this back up again, I totally agree with Tierlieb. My first thought was move to Longview (British band), but anything is better than the current. You can't just stick a hyphen in the middle?! Alex9788 (talk) 11:44, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you are right; wikipedia doesn't change spellings to fit its own organizational scheme. Longview (British band) would fit perfectly. - DavidWBrooks 15:23, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
Done, and removed the text in the article refering to a hyphen in the title. I will also remove the hyphen on the disambiguation page. Thanks for the response, Alex9788 (talk) 20:29, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm a latecomer to this discussion, but does somebody want to sort out the Mercury page? At the moment it still has the band's name with a hyphen, the track listings are absent, and the "Subversions" wikilink just redirects to a disambig page for the word "subversion". I don't know the band's material too well, but I'm guessing that "Subversions" was a second disc of remixes? If so, it probably needs saying explicitly on that page, rather than what's currently there. Dom Kaos (talk) 16:02, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Longview have split

[edit]

Longview have split up. It was confirmed by Rob McVey in a post on his facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1605096563114306&id=1583402475283715. Also Rob has been working on his first solo album too, and he has posted demos on his own website: http://www.robertmcvey.uk/ Andrew07 (talk) 20:48, 2 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
