[edit]I'm surprised there's no entries here on the story(ies) behind the flooding of Disclave 97. It's legendary in the con going community. Night1stalker 07:41, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I just ran across a Disclave reference in a book, and I'm pretty certain it's referring to the '97 Disclave, based on this filksong. 70.234.99.70 15:27, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
There are a number of folksongs and even more stories. They are not, however, appropriate for this page. --Kovar 14:56, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- If it's a significant enough story to be referred to in books, why would it not be appropriate to mention on this page? Bryan Derksen 02:55, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
- I should have made it clear that it was the stories and filksongs I was talking about. What actually happened is significant and is mentioned, it just doesn't include "much brouhaha ensued" and the brouhaha. Night1stalker is right: it's legendary. The rumors and 'facts' started spreading before the hotel stopped flooding. The latest story I came across was so far from the truth that it wasn't worth even trying to correct it, the only thing to do was to shake your head in wonder.
- What I very much want to know is what book contained the Disclave reference. Which makes it sound as if I doubt the existence of one; I don't. It's that I hadn't heard of anything that's been published that might have a reference, asked a couple of people and they hadn't heard of such a book. I'd been told that there was some follow up here with a question I could answer, especially since it's based on something I put badly. So I figured that this is a good time to ask about it. - I've done a booksearch and did come up with [1]. But that was published in 1972, and only had a hit because it contained both the words, Disclave and flood.
- Please, I really want to find this book! Not just to use as a reference on this page but because I really want to find it.
- I think the Flood of Disclave must have happened before 1990, because that was the last one I went to, and I remember it as history. Perhaps it was 1987? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xardox (talk • contribs) 12:40, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Compare Datclave? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.2.40.144 (talk) 00:56, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- Datclave is a different convention, see Capclave and reference to fifth friday in a month. Tarlneustaedter (talk) 07:26, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
