[edit]

In Bengal Only one group use the Gupta Surname but it is concatenated with another one; the ending one is Gupta : like Dash-Gupta, Sen-Gupta, Kor-Gupta etc. Only Gupta is also available among them . Although they are traditional medicine practitioner but are they mixed communities of Kandus.117.194.206.166 (talk) 13:54, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kandu caste

[edit]

Kanu or Kandu caste in Bihar, Jharkhand are also called 'Halwai'.They are also colloquially referred to as the Baniya community of Bihar, Jharkhand and Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh. These are facts..

Unfortunately, there is not much information available about this caste on the internet or in the books available in libraries which can be quoted as a citation. In those books where there was a reference available, I have already quoted them, which can be seen in the reference coloum. Many editors have raised few issues and have asked for citations at some places. They have also removed 'Halwai' term time and again from the page. Although, I respect their regard for facts but sometimes it is not possible to give all the facts at all the places.

I have tried to give a lot of citations but that has been rejected by a lot of editors in the past as inferior quality. So, I request the ones who raise any issue to kindly provide a factual basis of your rejection also. And please be cooperative as this has to be a collective effort.
