Merger Discussion

[edit]

Request received to merge articles: Saranga Dariya into Love Story (2021 film); dated: September 2024. Proposer's Rationale: This is one of the many songs in the movie, can be well explained about the song in the film article itself, doesn't hold notability or significance to have a seperate article. Discuss here. Thewikizoomer (talk) 08:50, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Also on one note it says it is a folk song, whereas whole article skewed towards the song that become popular from the said film. Thewikizoomer (talk) 09:16, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Its one of the songs of the movie and also telangana folk song, We can merge into movie article, as a section. If we want - Herodyswaroop (talk) 14:56, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Thewikizoomer and Herodyswaroop: Hi, I think the articles should stay separate and Oppose a merge. The song Saranga Dariya existed before and outside the film. And I don't believe it meets the criteria for merging into the film page.
The small overlap on the controversy section is not enough to justify a merger. It's is a minor part of the longer film page. The Overlap example is things like Greenland the country and the island having the same page. The song page contains information beyond the confines movie (how it was popularized and its origin for example) that would not fit here. And on the other criteria, the Saranga Dariya article is neither too short nor requires more context and it isn't a duplicate page.
I think reader are better served keeping them separate. So someone only interest in the song and not the movie would have an article that it more specific. And wikilinks can help them naviagate. SquawkGuard (talk) 03:05, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
