Explosion hazards.
[edit]Most paint solvents (water excluded) are flammable. The liquids of these solvents are flammable and will burn. The vapours of these solvents may form an explosive mixture in air. If the concentration of the vapour in air is below the lower explosive limit (LEL) and above the upper explosive limit (UEL)it will not explode if the mixture is ignited. However, if the concentration is above the LEL and below the UEL the mixture will explode if ignited. (See IEC 60079 part 20 or the LEL and UEL of various gases and and vapours) Ignition may be from an arc or a hot surface or an open flame. The energy required to cause an ignition depends on the gas group. Gases and vapours are divided into gas groups. (See IEC 60079 part 20 or the gas groups of various gases and vapours). This ignition energy is very small and is measured in micro joules. It can be as low as 20 mico joules. Even the static electricity that accumulate on a person (or his/her clothes) may cause an ignition of a gas/air micture. The temperature of a hot surface that would cause the air/gas mixture to ignite depends on the temperature class of the gas or vapour. (See also IEC 60079 part 20 for the temperature clases of gases and vapours. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.240.201.147 (talk) 12:46, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- ...below the lower explosive limit (LEL) *OR* above the upper explosive limit (UEL)... It cannot be both at once. Shannock9 (talk) 19:42, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
Permanent Mind Alteration (PMA) Hazards
[edit]Paint thinner is composed of a mixture of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and are usually petroleum-based. Since these chemicals are mindophilic, they have an ability to alter the chemical balance of one's mind. After excessive doses of paint thinner, the state of one's mind can be altered, leaving permanent scars even after treated. This is known by the scientific as Mens imperium, or more commonly as Permanent Mind Alteration (PMA).
The South Cow-Loon Chinese Police Force reports high incidents of paint thinner-induced PMA by criminal gangs. Police try to combat this barbaric practice, but underground, gangs are using paint thinner, a common household chemical, as a mind controlling agent. This has led to the banishment of paint thinner in the Cow-Loon region of China, and the Chinese government works to ban PMA-inducing paint thinner from the entire country.
Stand up to mind control gangs by informing yourself and raising awareness for the dangerous hazards of paint thinner and the threat they pose to society. 192.252.166.45 (talk) 00:23, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
