[edit]I have removed the mention of Walmart in the history section as this is viewed as more of an advertisement rather than as legitimate history
The immigrants name might possible be spelled "Jørgen Eliason" or "Jörgen Eliason".--ZorroIII 20:49, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
-I've looked it up, and it appears to be correct. I'll look in to it more perhaps later.
"Food" section
[edit]It seems that the food section is biased. Perhaps this could be changed by replacing words such as "wonderful" with words like "popular" or other words that do not give personal "ratings" to the restaurants.
- The food section, as currently listed, is nothing but on-line advertisements for those that are listed. It should be noted that these inclusions violate WP:NOT#DIR and WP:NOT#TRAVEL.
- I fully support purging the paragraph, on the grounds or lack of WP:RS, as well as the WP:NOT reasons listed already. The article already has a link to the poulsbochamber.com website which contains a link to restaurants in that area, that link is more than sufficient. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 17:17, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Jorgen
[edit]There are absolutely nooone called Jorgen who live in Norway. It is "Jørgen", though it might have changed when he moved to USA. (Unsigned - entered 31 August 2016 01:08, by IP user 124.248.181.23, probably an Australian of Norwegian descent).
- Obviously, but as you probably know, English-speaking people obviously have trouble with the letter "ø", so the name ends up pronounced and written like that. Since Wikipedia is free for you to edit, you could change the name if you feel like it. 85.19.140.9 (talk) 11:26, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
- Or, since Wikipedia is free for all to edit, you could make the changes yourself. We have discussed amongst ourselves and decided that we aren't interested in doing the work for you. If you are intent on getting it done, then maybe you should get started. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.248.181.23 (talk) 01:08, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
- As above comment from user 124.248.181.23 states, the name Jorgen should be spelled like "Jørgen". The sound of the vowel is described in the article Norwegian_phonology, and it's not the same letter as "O". I guess the letter is found represented on most users' screens. If not, it's the "slashed O" in Norwegian and Danish, and the "dotted O" found in Swedish and German.
- Though the letter is not found in the English alphabet, the sound of it is probably the most used sound not represented by a printed letter. The sound is instead represented by a variety of substitutes. Like in her, sir, fur, bird, fern, turn, learn, world - that is, mainly, but not always, words with a vowel preceeding an "r" (well, keep the "a" "y" out of the comparison). Being a Norwegian it's easy for me to suggest that you introduce the letter into your alphabet, and lørn to write the wørds like they sound (Pøn intended). -- (no.wiki) TorSch (talk) 13:23, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
"Food" : Subway
[edit]Subway's restaurant locator [1] does indeed show four Subways in Poulsbo. However, four hardly qualifies Poulsbo for 'the most Subways in any city on the west coast'; the same locator shows more than 30 restaurants in Seattle, and 10 in Bellevue, for example. Perhaps the proper claim is to the most Subways per capita, but until someone comes along to make a more defensible claim I'm removing that line from the section. founded
[edit]how exactly was it founded by a norwegian when native americans had been living there for thousands of years? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.105.134.113 (talk) 05:53, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- Native Americans might have been living there for thousands of years, but did they found a city? Just because a people group lives in a location does not automatically mean that they also took the steps to create a city as we now know it. The poeople who took those steps apparently were not Native Americans. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.248.181.23 (talk) 01:10, 31 August 2016 (UTC)

David Bazan Poulsbo Native?
[edit]I show "David Bazan (born January 1976) is an indie rock singer-songwriter from Seattle, Washington." not Poulsbo. Other notable artists who actually grew up in Poulsbo include Gregory Hillman and Kevin Blackwood. Both of these artists still visit and play in Poulsbo as well as tour nationally. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.134.41.114 (talk) 17:18, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
