Improvements needed as part of NPP

[edit]

To: @Sreenu Giri KP, Andy Dingley, and PavKls:

The draft as of November 6th is a good start, but needs significant work. As part of the standard new page review I have marked a number of the issues that need attention. These are mainly statements made without sources, which is not allowed. In addition you cannot use preprints as sources Ldm1954 (talk) 15:06, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback from New Page Review process

[edit]

I left the following feedback for the creator/future reviewers while reviewing this article: please see note on Talk Page about additional sources needed. Do not remove the tag at the top until these have been added.

Satellite-based entanglement distribution

[edit]

The content related to

  • Yin, J., Cao, Y., Li, Y. H., Liao, S. K., Zhang, L., Ren, J. G., ... & Pan, J. W. (2017). Satellite-based entanglement distribution over 1200 kilometers. Science, 356(6343), 1140-1144.

is not correct. Their work is straight Bell test with satellite. They say

  • "One solution to improve the distribution is the protocol of quantum repeaters (12) that divide the whole transmission line into smaller segments and combine the functionalities of entanglement swapping (13), entanglement purification (14), and quantum storage (15). ... Another approach to global-scale quantum networks is making use of satellite- and space-based technologies."

Needs work

[edit]

The article needs

  • Math formula for the Bell states.
  • Diagram of Bell state measurement with swapping (the W diagram: two entangled states at the bottom, one from each meet in BSM in the middle, two on the wings are entangled).
  • more content (and refs) to explain the little sections.

I added a diagram using my limited graphical skills...suggestions welcome. Johnjbarton (talk) 01:01, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Separable states can be used to distribute entanglement

[edit]

These article seem to be related to entanglement swapping, or maybe quantum discord, but I could not find a good review:

  • Cubitt, T. S., Verstraete, F., Dür, W., & Cirac, J. I. (2003). Separable states can be used to distribute entanglement. Physical review letters, 91(3), 037902.
  • "Classical carrier could create entanglement". physicsworld.com. 2013-12-11. Retrieved 2014-06-14.
  • Fedrizzi, A., Zuppardo, M., Gillett, G. G., Broome, M. A., Almeida, M. P., Paternostro, M., ... & Paterek, T. (2013). Experimental distribution of entanglement with separable carriers. Physical review letters, 111(23), 230504.

Can we change the name of this article?

[edit]

I think Entanglement swapping is enough as a name, it is the most common and there is no ambiguity with other terms. If somebody agrees, please proceed with it. ReyHahn (talk) 17:23, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oy. I started but "Entanglement swapping" is a redirect. I asked for admin help. Johnjbarton (talk) 18:58, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
