Also use references to back your statements, using reliable sources. And no, YouTube (not "Youtube") is usually not a reliable source (IP editors will even actually always get reverted by a bot if they post a YT link). Another thing: there are many grammar and style problems with your edits, so maybe you should just stay with the Russian Wikipedia instead. --Niemti (talk) 15:33, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • if you don't believe that EA approved "Wing Commander Saga", I think it would be better that you will look for English approval yourself, 'coz I simply can't put here approval in Russian as somewhere availale approval in English.
    but anyway I googled a few links, what's wrong? (Idot (talk) 16:10, 25 June 2012 (UTC))[reply]
  • PS by the way where I had put links to youtube? O_O (Idot (talk) 16:10, 25 June 2012 (UTC))[reply]

I've removed two of your new sections a second time. The section relating to Privateer 2 being connected to freelance looks like original research, and lacks any citations. I've also removed the first of the two sections on community projects, as it read in a promotional manner and lacked reliable sources that established notability. I have for the moment left the second section on Saga, as the Eurogamer reference is reliable and may be enough. I have not read the reference myself yet, but Eurogamer is in general an RS. Minima© (talk) 17:38, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • they ARE NOT my sections! they ARE NOT written by me! I just told that before removing 'em there should be some disscussion 'bout relevance of 'em (Idot (talk) 18:29, 25 June 2012 (UTC))[reply]

The section probably needs more work. Also, a Russian source is fine if an English version does not exist, I believe, however, this is the EN wiki, so if you want to add content like this you do need to strive to find valid EN sources. -- ferret (talk) 17:18, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And also, make sure the content doesn't infringe copyright either, as I have discovered that your revert re-added some material (especially in the "Wing Commander Standoff (2004-2009)" section) which appears to be cut and paste from http://standoff.solsector.net/about.shtml, a copyrighted source. aha... now I see... you'd better made an explanation while deleting (Idot (talk) 18:32, 25 June 2012 (UTC))[reply]

I've made a few more edits to the Saga community project to clean it up just a bit. I'm not sure if the Eurogamer is enough to establish notability, but the EA backing makes it worth while to look into it a little further. -- ferret (talk) 17:41, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

yeah. it is what I mean (Idot (talk) 18:32, 25 June 2012 (UTC))[reply]

I just searched for Community Based Games and such Wing Commander series simply doesn't exist; this "Community Based Games" thing seems to be some Russian Engrish. Btw, you guys might help me out with my article Christopher Blair because so far I'm like the only editor. --Niemti (talk) 18:39, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it was intended as a series name, but a section name similar to the "Spin off" section. I've moved the Saga section under Spin off now, as it seems to fit there in a similar fashion to Wing Commander Arena. -- ferret (talk) 18:53, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Frank Welker was never known as Paul Arden Lidberg

[edit]

As above. Rather Paul Lidberg was one of the writers of WC2. During those days. it was fairly common for the CG development team to voice the characters themselves.

I'm going to delete the part that Frank Welker = Paul Lidberg until there's a verifiable source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.116.128.58 (talk) 03:30, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Community Based Games

[edit]

The page is called Wing Commander franchise, instead it should be called Wing Commander Universe because it has taken a life on its own. Due to a dedicated community games like Wing Commander Saga and or Flight Commander would not exist. I argue that like the Star Wars franchise that is basically it's own universe and community, Wing Commander is no different. Referring to Star Wars and Wing Commander as a universe would allow more content to be added to Wikipedia and expose wiki-readers to the full extent of what each community has to offer. Not to mention the wiki pages would be a timeline showing how the community shaped and changed said franchises. The only requirement I would have, is that each community based project needs to be completed before allowing a wiki page or entry. Also, in games like Rome Total War, Wikipedia allows separate pages for mods that have contribute to the games success but when it comes to community based games, books, comics or whatever pertaining to Star Wars, Star Trek, Wing Commander and Ultima, just to name a few, any entry in wikipedia or a page created on wikipedia is usually deleted quite fast. Please explain why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.62.117.219 (talk) 19:50, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

John Dekker

[edit]

Hey guys, I was looking up Ted Dekker's father John Dekker, and for some reason his name redirected me to this page. As far as I can tell, Wing Commander is entirely unrelated to this missionary from Indonesia. I'm pretty inexperienced, so is anyone capable of changing that? Thanks all! SeymourTheLlama (talk) 07:05, 14 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The redirect exists because "John Dekker" is a character in the franchise. I suspect that at some point there was an article for the character, but it was deemed to not be notable so was redirected here. -- ferret (talk) 12:13, 14 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

– Per WP:DIFFCAPS. The video game franchise is clear primary topic over the horse with average pageviews being roughly 13 times more. A hatnote can be used for the horse rather than a disambiguation page so I didn't include it. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 05:18, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
