Orlando Toledo is a Puerto Rican manager and ocassional wrestler. He has worked in all of Puerto Rico's main promotions, the International Wrestling Association (IWA), Extreme Wrestling Organization (EWO) and World Wrestling Council (WWC). His first work in professional wrestling was as the IWA's General Manager, which he inherited from Savio Vega. In EWO, he served as Executive Administrator and manager. Upon arriving at WWC, Toledo served as a cornerstone figure in an interpromotional angle between all companies, bringing in WWC into the pre-existing feud between IWA and EWO.
Early career
[edit]IWA General Manager
[edit]In 2005, Toledo was introduced to the public of the International Wrestling Association as the storyline nephew of the deceased founder of the promotion, Victor Quiñones. This was employed as an instrument to award him the position of General Manager, until then held ritualistically by Savio Vega. At Histeria Boricua 2006, Toledo ordered a match between Vega and Carlos Cotto. On November 4, 2006, Toledo served as host announcer of an storyline elections to determine the IWA's president, with the two candidates being Vega and legitimate president and owner, Miguel Pérez. He initially announced that the winner of the election was Vega. However, Pérez offered an immediate rebuttal, citing that he was not employed by the promotion. This was due to a previous storyline, where Vega had been fired and was actually seen in segments portraying a vagabond version of his character. Pérez argues that he should be president, but Toledo reaches the conclusion that since the result of the elections is null, being the next in the hierarchy following the president, he shall serve as defacto leader of IWA. From this point onwards, he turned villanous, forming his own stable named "Las Estrellas", primarly compossed of foreign wrestlers, most of the competing in the independent circuits. By Histeria Boricua he was serving as the regular manager of Mikael Judas.[2] He led the wrestlers to wins over Edgar "Spectro" Rodríguez, "Lighting" Aléx Cruz, Shane Sewell, Bison Smith and Aaron Aguilera, as well as losses to Vega, Ray González, "Mr. Big" Miguel Maldonado and Ricky Banderas.
Despite this, Judas lost all of his non-singles matches during this tenure, remaining winless in this category until April 28, 2007. On this same event, a new member was added, "[The] Collossus" Michael Jarvis. He performed as a monster heel, only losing at big events during his short campaign with the promotion. At Juicio Final he added a new element to his stable, Kafu. Las Estrellas went on to form an alliance with González, who feuded over the IWA Undisputed World Heavyweight Championship. Subsequently, Toledo managed Judas into a feud with Banderas, helping him win a casket match to end the angle. Judas continued being managed by him until Summer Attitude, leaving the promotion shortly after. Kafu was introduced by winning squash matches against random jobbers, but quickly entered a feud with Maldonado, who finished his undefeated streak. He went on to unsuccessfully challenge for the IWA Intercontinental Heavyweifght Championship and earned a win over Vega. When Kafu was offered a World Wrestling Entertainment developmental contract, Toledo was credited in storyline, awarding it for his performance. He spent the rest of the year managing The Naturals and Los Luchas in separate feud against Los Aereos for the IWA World Tag Team Championship. In early 2008, a heavy conflict between Miguel Pérez, Savio Vega and Mario Savoldi erupted over control of the promotion's library and equipment, concluding in a legal conflict. Pérez and Vega emerged victorious in tge court, but following this incident, Toledo left the IWA, along several other talents and the company's ties with the National Wrestling Alliance were severed.
EWO Executive Administrator
[edit]On August 2010, after years of inactivity in the local wrestling scene, Toledo reappeared on the Extreme Wrestling Organization, the largest independent and third main promotion in Puerto Rico, being named Executive Administrator, a position simmilar to that of general manager. In his earliest angle in the promotion, he expressed distrust in the capacity of EWO's referees to handle the wrestlers, imposing special referees in some of the high-profile grudge matches.[3] Concurrently, a wrestler introduced as Luis Estilo began interrupting his official announcements as well as other wrestlers on a regular basis, claiming that the administration was discriminating against him. At Halloween Rage 2010, he made his first appearance by revoking the result of Estilo's match, a victory due to illegal tactics, ordering the continuation and ultimately costing him a loss. In his second intervention, Toledo brought in veteran José "Pelayo" Vázquez to referee in the event. He closed the night by declaring a tag team match null due to another situation involving two referees, before announcing an upcoming invitational tournament for the EWO World Tag Team Championship. [4] After EWO suspended an event scheluded for November 20, 2010, Toledo hosted the EWO Update, the promotion's programming capsule, leading up to the year's closing event. At Christmas Aggression 2010, Toledo hosted the first stages of the tag team invitational tournament. He also granted Vázquez the opportunity to wrestle, despite being brought in as a referee. To conclude, he received a recorded video from Los Bendejos, asking to be included in the qualificatory for the World Tag Team Championship.[5] The team was brought in and troughtout January, the eliminatories continued. On February 12, 2011, an angle was employed where Richard Rondón was introduced as the new owner and CEO of EWO, proceeding to immediately remove Toledo from his office and fire him from the promotion.[6] This was followed with a hiatus spanning several months. In October 2011, he reappeared masked and aiding Team Estilo Incorporated, before being eventually revealed as the heel stable's assessor and aligning himself in direct opposition to Rondón.
IWA vs. WWC vs. EWO
[edit]Tiempos de Guerra
[edit]EWO and IWA began an interpromotional angle in December 2011. In concurrent fashion, Toledo debuted at the World Wrestling Council on Juanuary 7, 2012, as part of Euphoria, cutting a promo and issuing and issuing an open challenge.[7] He served as a manager, pursuing to take the WWC Caribbean Heavyweight Championship from Roger Díaz. However, his wrestler was unsuccessful to capture the title in his first attempt. On February 2, 2012, EWO uploaded a video to their YouTube accout in which Toledo was hinted to be a "double agent" during a reunion with Estilo, in which he claimed that "Puerto Rico['s wrestling scene would] tremble".[8] At la Hora de la Verdad, he extended his services to include The Maximo Brothers helping them win the WWC World Tag Team Championship, as well as interfering in Díaz's contest, earning his employee a first contendership. In this event, Toledo also aided Gilbert in earning a WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship opportunity by distrating Ray González.[9] This evolved into a loose feud between both, with Toledo claiming that González was avoiding him. Following this event, EWO released another video, in which he was seen in the locker room during La Hora de la Verdad while speaking with Estilo by phone.[10] On February 11, 2012, Díaz once again defeated his managee, this time by discualification.[11] In the promotional buildup prior to Noche de Campeones, Toledo was credited with bringing Kenny Dykstra to wrestle against González. He was also credited with managing the Maximos at a Fighting Spirit Wrestling event, in which they retained the title in a double discualification. On February 27, 2012, he was once again featured in a EWO video, now talking to an unidentified person.[12] At Noche de Campeones, Toledo officially became Gilbert's manager, helping him win the Universal Heavyweight Championship from Carly Colón.
