Xenoblade Chronicles, a role-playing video game developed and published by Monolith Soft and Nintendo respectively, was originally released in 2010. The game boasts a large ensemble of fictional characters with varying degrees of roles. Xenoblade Chronicles is a fantasy and science fiction video game that takes place on top of the bodies of two giant motionless gods.[1]
Xenoblade Chronicles follows Shulk, a young Homs who embarks on a journey to get revenge on the Mechon for the assault on his hometown. As the story progresses, conflicts escalate which shifts his revenge quest to saving the world. Other important characters of the game include Shulk's childhood friends Reyn and Fiora, Dunban, Sharla, Melia, and Riki. Shulk and his friends eventually confront the primary antagonist, Zanza.

Shulk (シュルク, Shuruku) is the protagonist of Xenoblade Chronicles. He is a young Hom from Colony 9 who has the ability to wield the legendary blade, the Monado. He embarks on a revenge quest against the Mechon for their assault on his hometown.[3] Shulk is voiced by Adam Howden in English and by Shintarō Asanuma in Japanese.

Reyn
- Voiced by: Eiji Miyashita (Japanese); Jay Taylor (English)[4]
Reyn (ライン, Rain) is a childhood friend of Shulk and Fiora. He is a member of the Colony 9 Defence Force who accompanies Shulk on his quest throughout the Bionis and Mechonis. Reyn is voiced by Jay Taylor in English and by Eiji Miyashita in Japanese.
Fiora
- Voiced by: Eri Nakao (Japanese); Carina Reeves (English)[5]
Fiora (フィオルン, Fiorung) is a childhood friend of Shulk and Reyn. Her death in the assault on Colony 9 sparks Shulk's desire for revenge against the Mechon. Fiora is later revived by Vanea and is transplanted into a machine body due to her relationship with Shulk. For a while, she is controlled by the soul controlling her body. After coming back to her senses, Fiora feels compelled to help the soul who used her body. Fiora is voiced by Carina Reeves in English and by Eri Nakao in Japanese.
Dunban
- Voiced by: Ryō Horikawa (Japanese); Rufus Jones (English)[6]
Dunban (ダンバン, Danban) is Fiora's older brother. He is known as the hero who wielded the Monado and fought against the Mechon in the Battle of Sword Valley. Dunban lost the use of his right arm after the Monado proved to be too powerful for him to control. A year after the battle, his sister is murdered by the Mechon. Angered by Fiora's death, he eventually joins Shulk and Reyn soon after his wounds are healed. Dunban is voiced by Rufus Jones in English and by Ryō Horikawa in Japanese.
Sharla
- Voiced by: Akeno Watanabe (Japanese); Kellie Bright (English)[7]
Sharla (カルナ, Carna) is a medic who is originally from Colony 6. She initially hesitates Shulk's ability to see the future, but she is quickly convinced after her brother Juju gets abducted by the Mechon. Later on, it is revealed that Sharla's fiancé Gadolt mysteriously disappeared during the attack on Colony 6. She accompanies Shulk in the hopes of finding Gadolt. Sharla is voiced by Kellie Bright in English and by Akeno Watanabe in Japanese.
Melia Antiqua
- Voiced by: Shiori Katsuta (Japanese); Jenna Coleman (English)[8]
Melia Antiqua (メリア エンシェント, Meria Enshento) is the crown princess of the High Entia. Shulk and his friends discover Melia alone in Makna Forest after she was ambushed by a beast known as a Telethia. They defeat the Telethia to avenge the fallen men who died protecting Melia. Melia promises Shulk that she will take him through Eryth Sea to Prison Island. Over the course of the game, Melia loses several loved ones which drives her to avenge their deaths. Melia is voiced by Jenna Coleman in English and by Shiori Katsuta in Japanese.
Riki
- Voiced by: Yuki Kaida (Japanese); Wayne Forester (English)[9]
Riki (リキ, Riki), also known as the Legendary Heropon, is a Nopon from Frontier Village. Chosen by the village seer Dunga, he must travel with Shulk to repay the debt of the actions caused by his wife and children. Riki is voiced by Wayne Forester in English and by Yuki Kaida in Japanese.
Antagonists

Metal Face (黒いフェイス, Kuroi Feisu) is a Faced Mechon. He first appears in the Colony 9 assault. In the attack, he is responsible for the deaths of Colonel Vangarre and Fiora. Their deaths is what sparked Shulk's desire to go after Metal Face. It is later revealed that Metal Face is Mumkhar after he was attacked in the Battle of Sword Valley. Metal Face is voiced by Timothy Watson in English and by Norio Wakamoto in Japanese.[11]
Zanza
- Voiced by: Shintarō Asanuma (Japanese); Adam Howden (English)[12]
Zanza (ザンザ, Zanza) is the primary antagonist. A self-described god, Zanza was the soul of the Bionis. Viewing himself as the only god, he attempted to wipe out the Mechonis. After the battle with the Mechonis, the High Entia confined him to Prison Island. He inhabited beings of the Bionis to eventually free himself.
