The T Clemente Band is an American hard rock/heavy metal band formed in San Jose, California in 2004. The band is best known for all-original music in the styles of Deep Purple, Ritchie Blackmore, and Van Halen.
History
[edit]In 1981 Teddy Clemente immigrated to the United States from Cavite City, Philippines. Five years later he became a US Citizen. "I always enjoyed listening to rock music because of the US Military Base & Community in Cavite," Clemente says. "Deep Purple's Machine Head was my 1st Rock album. I was very impressed with Ritchie Blackmore's guitar works. Then I discovered other great guitar players: Santana, Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci, Michael Schenker, Ronnie Montrose, Joe Satriani + more & the rest is history." Clemente started writing his own music in the early 80's. However, his efforts stalled when he joined a band that didn't take off. He then sold all of his gear and took a break from writing and playing music. In 2000, at the urging of friend & co-worker Oai Lam, Clemente made a Y2k New Year's Resolution to resurrect his passion for music and formed the T Clemente Band.
Let it Shine (2000 – 2008)
[edit]In January 2000, Clemente started writing and recording the music in his home studio that would form the basis for the T Cemente Band. In 2004, Mark Crissman introduced Clemente to Soundtek Studios in Campbell, California where he began work on his first studio album, "Created by Influence". It was at Soundtek Studios where Clemente met Robert Berry, a grammy nominated recording artist known for his work with Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer[2] and Thom Duell, musician and song writer. Berry assisted with recording, mixing, and arranging the album and also provide backup vocals, keyboards, guitar, and bass. Tom Duell was Clemente's sound engineer and also contributed guitar and bass. David Lauser, best known for his work with Sammy Hagar, provided drums. Clemente is credited as song writer, arranger, rhythm, accoustic, and lead guitars.
"Created by Influence" was a six-track instrumental album. During the recording process, Thom asked Teddy: "Do you ever have any lyrics for any of these songs?" Teddy replied "Yeah I do — but I can't sing". "I'll sing it for you!," said Duell. The result was a last-minute addition to the album: a song called "Let It Shine". "Let It Shine" later became the title of the first album.[3]
"Let It Shine" was followed in 2005 by the album "Take The Shot" and in 2008 by "Illusions".[4]
Lost in Time (2008 – present)
[edit]In 20XX, Thom Duell introduced Amanda Dieck to Clemente. Initially, Dieck was singing backup vocals for Duell. Dieck provided lead vocals for 2014's "Lost in Time" and currently tours with the band.
