  • Comment: Please see WP:REFB for advice on citing sources using the preferred method of dynamic inline citations and footnotes. (Basically, you have two citations correctly formatted, but also six inline external links. The latter are not counted as references, and are in fact not even allowed. Please convert them from links to citations.) DoubleGrazing (talk) 14:25, 12 June 2024 (UTC)

MacDroid is a file transfer app for macOS developed by Electronic Team, Inc. First released in 2020[3], it was designed to transfer files (including photos, videos, music, and folders) between a Mac computer and an Android device [4] [5]. The app supports all Android and MTP devices, and is compatible with macOS 10.15 or higher.

It includes features like mounting Android as a disk on a Mac, editing files on Mac without copying them on computer, and full-folder support[6]

The app works through a USB connection and comes with three connection modes: Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity), MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) and ADB (Android debug bridge).[7] After a seven-day trial period, the product can only be used to transfer files from Android to the Mac; to transfer files in both directions, a paid subscription is required.[8]

MacDroid is often suggested as an alternative to Android file transfer on various forums.[9] [10] Android file transfer is an application from Google that hasn't been updated for a couple of years and recently ceased to exist and was removed from the official website.[11]

The iMobie[12] resource highlights such advantages of the MacDroid application as: Automatic renewal is available with annual billing. This subscription permits usage on up to five Mac devices and an unlimited number of Android devices. It allows for the editing of files on Android and is compatible with all Android and MTP devices.[13]

A key feature of MacDroid is the capability to edit files stored on your phone directly from your MacBook, without the need to save and download them onto your MacBook.[14] With Android File Transfer, the same operation involves exporting a file to a Mac, renaming it, and then importing it back to your smartphone.[15]  The app can also come in handy if you need to help a family member with an Android device move things. [16]

Another notable feature is the capability to view videos offline on an Android device. Users may transfer videos to their Android devices and view them in various settings, such as during a flight, on a train journey, or while traveling in an Uber.[17]

MacDroid supports a wide range of Android devices, including the most popular and newest devices from Samsung[18], as well as Pixel, HTC, Nokia, OnePlus, Meta Quest 3, and others [19]
