E-class Melbourne tram
Hi there,
I've responded to the tags you placed on E-class Melbourne tram at Talk:E-class Melbourne tram. Liamdavies (talk) 14:04, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
RE: Barnaster
Awwww thanks :) First one I have been awared. Mrlittleirish 13:58, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
- Speading WikiLove is important. It helps editors know that they're doing a good job. From a cookie or a smile to a Barnstar, everyone should know that they're being useful to the Project. Just remember that it is far more important to give than to receive. Keep up the good work. -Achowat (talk) 14:17, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
{{stub}} tag placement
Hi, Please remember to put any {{stub}} tags after everything except inter-language links - see WP:FOOTERS. If you put them in the wrong place it makes it more difficult for stub-sorters to find them, and causes them work in moving them. Thanks. PamD 23:35, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
- Noted, thank you. -Achowat (talk) 13:08, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for the COI warning for the user-what tipped you off?--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 13:16, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
- A comment on your Talk very clearly of the format "I work for (the subject of the article) and therefore my word is far more important than Reliable, Second-Party Sources". He's probably right, as it turns out, but it is always more important to err on the side of caution when it comes to COI. On a personal note, the billion-dollar multinational corporation I work for was recently featured pretty heavily in the Boston Globe. But I'm not touching that article with a Ten Foot Pole (and yes, I mean the linked punk band). -Achowat (talk) 13:23, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Kulp (band)
Hello Achowat. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Kulp (band), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: there is non trivial coverage in what seems to be an independent reliable source: http://www.aksam.com.tr/en-akademik-grup-kulp--64955h.html. Thank you. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 23:13, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Garrett Lisi
I would like to mention that I'm trying to get a reasonable and NPOV version of Antony Garrett Lisi's page, that currently has been under censorship from User SherryNugil that does not want to include the current status of the Lisi's theory and that wants to keep all the articles and interviews and tv appearances and blog entries and forum discussions about Lisi. Not even for Nobel Prize Laureates there is such a complete list. I am also reporting that user for several reasons and it would be good if you could participate to the discussion giving your opinion, given that in the past you contributed to that page. Look at the discussion page for the last happenings. 24.7.128.58 (talk) 16:14, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification
Hi. When you recently edited Flag of Los Angeles, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Chief and Escutcheon (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Sylvia Browne
Wait, you're gonna talk to me about being unbiased with info about Sylvia Browne?
If you're content with having an only semi-accurate, and frankly, flagrantly hateful page about Ms. Browne, then maybe you don't belong on Wikipedia yourself. 64.107.153.120 Talk
- You're clearly an adherent to Ms. Browne's theories, and that is fine. I edit articles about my beliefs, but I make sure I do it within the guidelines of WP:COI. Now, as to what you had actually posted, it was reverted for a few reasons:
- You removed cited content simply because you disagreed with them. WP:NPOV requires us, as editors, to publish what is reported by reliable, secondary sources. That was what was in the article, and you removed it.
- You changed the phrases "She claimed to have visions" to "She had visions". While it is possible that this actually occurred, it is not verifiable and therefore we must only report the verifiable claim.
- You replaced an indication that "Novus Spiritus refers to itself as Gnostic Gnostic" to read "Novus Spiritus is Gnostic Christian" (emphasis, mine. While this is probably unduely Weasel-y, the reason the current form is preferred to your proposed form is because it is hard to nail down one definition for Gnosticism, and as such, we are left to simply report the verifiable claim.
I hope this helps you understand why I reverted your edits and how you can work under the current Wikipedia Framework to improve articles. Thank you, Achowat (talk) 21:45, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

- If you'd like to have a firm, frank discussion on the issue I've posed, feel free. Wikipedia is built on consensus and part of that is calmly explaining your 'side of the story' to others so that you can get them to agree with you. If you'd just like to say "I'm right, and you're wrong" be my guest (though I doubt the Admins will be so accommodating) but that will never help you build consensus. Also, please sign posts on this, and all other talk pages, by simply typing ~~~~ at the end of your post. Cheers! Achowat (talk) 22:07, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

- It's OK. I agree with your ideas, I like the set-up. What I was wondering about was why the Quasar is not like a normal, readily available Barnstar and how we could change that. But I am happy and grateful that we settled the main thing and the ribbon issue. Cheers.Djathinkimacowboy(yell) 01:51, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Welcome to the 2012 WikiCup
Hello, and welcome to the 2012 WikiCup! The competition officially begins at the start of 2012 (UTC) after which time you may begin to claim points. Your submission page, where you must note any content for which you wish to claim points, can be found here, and formatting instructions can be found in hidden comments on the page. A bot will then update the main table, which can be seen on the WikiCup page. The full rules for what will and will not be awarded points can be found at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring. There's also a section on that page listing the changes that have been made to the rules this year, so that experienced participants can get up-to-date in a few seconds. One point of which we must remind everyone; you may only claim points for content upon which you have done significant work, and which you have nominated, in 2012. For instance, articles written or good article reviews started in 2011 are not eligible for points.
This round will last until late February, and signups will remain open until the middle of February. If you know of anyone who may like to take part, please let them know about the competition; the more the merrier! At the end of this round, the top 64 scorers will progress to the next round, where their scores will reset, and they will be split into pools. Note that, by default, you have been added to our newsletter list; we will be in contact at the end of every month with news. You're welcome to remove yourself from this list if you do not wish to hear from us. Conversely, those interested in following the competition are more than welcome to add themselves to the list. Please direct any questions towards the judges, or on the WikiCup talk page. Good luck! J Milburn (talk) and The ed17 (talk) 17:50, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
