Marker board

File:Glass Marker Board.JPG

Marker board is a kind of display board for marker pen as well as chalk board for chalk. The common marker board is white and it is also called whiteboard. There have been a lot of innovations since it was invented.

At first, the surface of mark board is Melamine(a resin-impregnated paper which is typically used over a pressboard substrate. It’s cheap but can be easily scratched and will show some staining as the marker board ages and over time it will become less and less erasable, usually within a few months. Permanent markers are permanent on this surface.

The painted steel or aluminum is more smoothy and erasable and the painted steel can be magnetic, but they have the same disadvantages of Melamine board such as easy to scratch, erasability will reduce as the marker board ages, permanent markers are permanent on this surface, etc.

Porcelain or enamel-on-steel is the best surface of marker board with highly scratch resistant, magnetic,no dry erase or permanent marker ink ghost stain and a durable lifetime. There are many different recipes for porcelain, so the erasability varies on this material, and the price for this kind of marker board is expensive.

Glass maker board is the most economic and functional choice for marker board. The surface is safe tempered glass with best smoothness, chemical resistance, projector friendly, good durability, easily erasable and no dry erase or permanent marker ink ghost stain.Whiteness is very important for Marker board. Because the whiter the board, the larger color contrast on the marker board, the clearer the characters we see. Anti-glare surface is another important charater for some glass marker boards too,for it can help relax our eyes and protect the vision.
