Welcome!

Hello, Bowser423, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Dublin Coffman Weather Service, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may soon be deleted.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

Nomination of Severe Thundersnow Warning for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Severe Thundersnow Warning is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Severe Thundersnow Warning until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Acroterion (talk) 03:05, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

July 2011

[edit]

Welcome, and thank you for your attempt to lighten up Wikipedia. However, this is an encyclopedia and the articles are intended to be serious, so please don't make joke edits, as you did to Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Severe_Thundersnow_Warning. Readers looking for accurate information will not find them amusing. If you'd like to experiment with editing, try the sandbox, where you can write practically anything you want. Don't put inappropriate tags in deletion discussions. We're not trying to "delete science." We're discussing whether the term is sufficiently notable for its own article on Wikipedia. You might consider merging this to the article on Thundersnow. I, Jethrobot drop me a line 07:55, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Hurricaine"

[edit]

I can certainly support your work in eradicating that spelling! Acroterion (talk) 16:47, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

However, I reverted your redirect of Hurricaine back to the medication benzocaine, since it seems a little more apropos for the redirect, incorrectly spelled, to go to its similarly-spelled medical equivalent. I'm hesitant to create disambiguation pages for misspelled words, so I'm inclined to leave it as is. You should tread lightly in such situations, remembering that there are many such ambiguities among the nearly 3.7 million articles that must be finessed. Acroterion (talk) 00:11, 18 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thundersnow

[edit]

I have removed your addition to Thundersnow. You claim to have received suggestions to add it there, but I see no consensus nor on-wiki discussion of the addition. Please try to locate reliable sources to support the addition. This appears to be the same issue related to the AfD, that Wikipedia has a central policy of verifiability, which can be satisfied by providing reliable sources to support the content. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 19:29, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

try 2 posts up this talk page. --Bowser423 (talk) 19:31, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That's not consensus nor authorization to bypass WP:V or WP:RS. The addition was removed, the appropriate next step is to take it to the article talk page to get consensus before re-adding it. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 19:33, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies-- my instructions on what to do next were not entirely clear. Barek is correect-- the talk page at Thundersnow would be the best place to go next. Hopefully, some discussion will be generated. If not, you should then attempt to add only information about the warning that is supported in-depth by your sources. I, Jethrobot drop me a line 19:44, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for realizing you may be too close to the subject to be able to write neutrally about it. I do hope that you'll continue editing other subjects of which you have in-depth knowledge and access to sources, yet less of an emotional attachment.
On my last comment at talk:Thundersnow, I also want to clarify that when I stated "Eventually, if the warning catches on elsewhere and reliable sources begin to publish the term that may change - but it's not there yet.", the word 'yet' is very relevant. Wikipedia evolves as changes in the real-world evolve; just because a subject, as yet, lacks third-party reliable sources does not mean it can never be added. Eventually, if/when the warning terminology receives broader usage and becomes published by third party reliable sources, then it would certainly deserve mention in Wikipedia.
If there's anything I can help you on with your editing to Wikipedia, feel free to ask. I may not respond immediately - I edit as time permits, looking around Wikipedia every hour or two, although sometimes I'll step away for days at a time depending on my real-world commitments. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 20:10, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New pages for warnings

[edit]

I noticed you've been creating new pages for NWS products. First, I wanted to say thank you - it's something I've been working on for a while and got distracted from. The only thing I'd suggest you do different is to make sure you cite the info about the warning (the NWS glossary has most of them in there), and add the {{SevWea nav}} code to the bottom so the navbox is placed there. But keep up the great work! Inks.LWC (talk) 01:42, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Wikipedia:Troll Warning, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. LiteralKa (talk) 02:44, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Speedy at Wikipedia:Troll Warning

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Wikipedia:Troll Warning, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, then you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Click here to contest this speedy deletion and appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 02:45, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. LiteralKa (talk) 02:46, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Cieluza policy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it must be substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 18:16, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at User talk:MikeWazowski, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Jasper Deng (talk) 19:40, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Various speedy deletions

[edit]

FYI, I've tagged Wikipedia:TROLLWARN, Wikipedia:TRL-W, Wikipedia:TRW, and Wikipedia:WAME for speedy deletion under WP:G8, as they all redirect to nonexistent pages. While I felt it'd be unnecessarily cluttered to put the full CSD notification on your page, I figured I'd at least let you know why I tagged them. Inks.LWC (talk) 21:25, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Infobox, you shouldn't blindly revert the edits of other editors. The proper way to deal with conflict is talking about it on talk pages. Cheers --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 01:09, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bowser, competence is required to edit on Wikipedia. Editors have been blocked, and even community banned, in the past because they refused to listen to others when given good advice and continued on down a disruptive path. Unfortunately, you are currently doing the same and I can't see this ending well for you. You still have a chance to make good on here, so please consider how you want to interact on Wikipedia and take a few hints when they are given to you. You may wish to consider mentorship by a more experienced editor to help you stay out of trouble. Strange Passerby (talkcont) 02:40, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Having made a promising start, you're comprehensively discrediting yourself, refusing to listen to advice, and leaving a trail of problems. I strongly advise a much more low-key approach to editing: you're alienating members of the tropical cyclones project, which is not a good idea for someone with your area of interest. Acroterion (talk) 02:54, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I like some of your pages, to tell you the truth. It's just that they can't stay on Wikipedia. I myself went down this path, almost, and am myself under mentorship. WP:IDIDNTHEARTHAT was a key thing for me to avoid, and it looks like it'll be so for you too.Jasper Deng (talk) 03:16, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Userfying project pages during MfD discussions

[edit]

I notice that in a couple of cases you have userfied project pages that were under discussion at WP:MFD. Although I understand why you are doing this, I would recommend against this practice. It complicates the discussions and in some cases the userfied page may be deleted anyway. It would be better to offer userfication as an option early in the discussion (which can lead to that being the consensus result) or requesting userfication after the project page has been deleted (which many admins would grant if the page is userspace-appropriate). You are of course free to disregard this advice, and those of us who close this type of discussion will make the best of it we can, but it would be helpful. Thanks. --RL0919 (talk) 15:45, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article TOR:CON has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable, no sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Your pages

[edit]

Since it's becoming pretty clear that the pages you made aren't living up to our standards, I think the best thing for you is to start over from scratch with the pages, and always start in your userspace, never any other namespace. If you want to propose a new club or something like Cieluza, please get community consensus first at Wikipedia:Village pump (proposals).

Your comments at the deletion discussions for your pages seem to be gaming the system. If your pages are deleted, it's no big deal - as you learn more, you'll be able to create even better things. Don't be discouraged.Jasper Deng (talk) 01:19, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A helping hand

[edit]

Hey, I feel like we're getting off on the wrong foot. I can see you're interested in hurricanes, which I greatly value. That is one half of the equation for being a writer of good hurricane articles. The other half, unfortunately, is what you're lacking. It's that certain something in great writers, and I can see a bit of it in you. You're enthusiastic about what you do! However, you're using your enthusiasm in the wrong way.

I strongly suggest you stop creating subpages and Wikipedia pages. It isn't really helpful for the encyclopedia. Wikipedia is about an encyclopedia, so we're all here to improve the articles. If you're not doing that, then you're not really helping out. If I may ask, what aspect of tropical cyclones do you enjoy? Is there a certain time period or basin you track more often than others? You know, there are hundreds of hurricane articles out there that need help. Some need as little work as fixing links and copyediting, while others need more substantial work such as adding in content.

Let me know what your thoughts are. I'd hate to see a hurricane enthusiast get himself blocked for not knowing what to do! --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 01:55, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Err, you missing the point. Doing all of the forecasting belongs off-wiki, and was not Hink's point. If I were you, I'd work on extremely classic hurricane such as Hurricane Camile and Hurricane Andrew and Hurricane Diane. If you need any help contact me via talk page. YE Pacific Hurricane 04:39, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yea, I more meant what do you plan to do here on Wikipedia. How do you view yourself as an editor in the future? I take it you enjoy Atlantic hurricanes the most then. Why don't you work more on improving the Atlantic hurricane articles? There is a task force specifically for Atlantic hurricanes (including all storm and season articles), and there is certainly plenty of work to go around. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 12:36, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In addition, we could always use help updating current cyclones like Tropical Storm Emily (2011) with reliably sourced information. If you indeed enjoy tracking current cyclones, this might be something you can get involved in. -Marcusmax(speak) 12:56, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You answered only one part of Hink's two part statement. Is there a certain time period or basin you track more often than others? If you like ATL storms, they are many articles that need work. What do you plan to do on Wikipedia? Do you ever plan to write/create articles? No offence, but the subpages are unnecessary IMO, and belong on Hurricane Wiki. Wikipedia is not a few web host it is an encyclopedia, remember that. YE Pacific Hurricane 14:20, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Your reply to Hink indicates that you are doing original research, which, while it's a fun thing to do, doesn't lend itself to inclusion on Wikipedia, which requires reliable sourcing. If you're committed to researching published sources and scrupulously citing them in article improvement, that's a great thing. Your own opinions, tracking, and analysis can't be used here. Hurricane Wiki would be an appropriate place for such activities. Acroterion (talk) 14:55, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

So, seeing as you didn't answer, I'll ask more directly. Would you like to be in some sort of mentorship program? I'm willing to help you get the hang of things around here and keep you out of trouble. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 22:00, 3 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer. Please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Adopt-a-typo

[edit]

Dear Bowser, I am a member of the typo team, and have only been actively editing for a few months. However, when I joined the typo team there seemed to be a need for a collection of adopted typos. Therefore, I have started the adopt-a-typo project. However, I could still use some help getting it off the ground, and any ideas or corrections are welcome. Adding unreferenced information

[edit]

Please do not add unreferenced information like you did to Tornado earlier today. Everything in Wikipedia needs to be referenced. Also, the sentence that you added also happened to be untrue, and adding references would be an easy way to verify that what you're about to add is actually factual instead of being just another false myth itself. Speedy deletion of Template:Separate

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Template:Separate requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

Thanks. MikeWazowski (talk) 06:10, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bowser, please treat this as a final warning. Stop creating unhelpful templates and pages on the level that you are. If you persist with this diruptive behaviour, administrator action may be necessary. Strange Passerby (talkcont) 09:57, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There is no other template for separation, therefore it is not a duplication of another template. This is perfectly useful, as it is the opposite of a merge tag. I have not created a template or a later-deleted page in days, so don't accuse me of doing it on any kind of frequent "level". T3 requires that this template's purpose already be covered by a previously existing one AS WELL as not being used at the time. I've read the CSD too. The CSD are very strict and inflexible so as to avoid abuse by "interpretation". things like this belong at TFD, not SPEEDY.  --Bowser the Storm Tracker  Chat Me Up 14:12, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Seriously Bowser? I offered you some sort of mentorship and you turned it down to cause more disruption. There is already a template for {{Splitsection}}. If you had just asked or looked before making it, you'd know it was redundant. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 14:18, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
... I looked for that ... and I couldn't find it. I really did look for it. That's not disruption, that's a lack of information. I tried to find it, but I couldn't. Calling me disruptive for honestly failing to find something that I was looking for, and then attempting to fill the absence that I had found, is not fair.  --Bowser the Storm Tracker  Chat Me Up 14:25, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Read the linked page. Disruptive editing is a pattern of edits, which may extend over a considerable period of time or number of articles, that has the effect of disrupting progress toward the fundamental project of building an encyclopedia. Exactly in what way are you contributing progress towards this project? In addition, Disruptive editing is not always intentional. The fact that the disruption is done in good faith does not change the fact that it is disruptive and harmful to Wikipedia. Whether you "really did look for it" or otherwise, it is disruption. So cut it out. Strange Passerby (talkcont) 14:41, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. I would suggest a complete refrain from creating new templates and pages. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 14:51, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You wanna know in what way I've contributed to ALL THREE weather projects? The way is that the vast majority of my edits have not been deleted or rv'd. The way is that Wind advisory, hurricane force wind warning and severe outbreak didn't exist before me. The way is that There were major errors in the flag system as noted on tropical storm warning and all of the other sections in the US part of that page before I fixed them. The way is that I updated TC watches/warnings to include the deprecation of the "inland advisories" which were discontinued this year. The way is that I improved Beaufort Scale. The way is that I uploaded File:Gale pennant.png and File:Stormwarning.png. The way is that before me, significant weather advisory referred to the EAS as "all TVs, radios, and other devices in the radius of the alert are swithched off and start to broadcast alerts. They start off with beeping-like sounds, a phone, the broadcasters announce the alert,`then makes beep sounds to exit the alert broadcast." The way is that I marked the heavy snow warning, sleet warning, snow advisory, and blowing snow advisory as deprecated on Severe_weather_terminology_(United_States). The way Is that I initiated the discussion resulting in a major wording fix on tropical cyclone. The way is that I purge wikipedia of the typos "hurricaine", "tronado", and, "tornaod", "tornados" "torando". Don't say I should refrain from creating articles, because I created three that were needed. Don't say I don't contribute, because I have updated, improved, and created many weather articles and killed 5 typos. I did a few of the things I've listed here before I even registered. Don't accuse me of being a non-contributor. You are tracking the things which have been deleted without looking over the other, vast majority of my edits. It can be noted quantitatively here that I have 452 live edits and only 140 deleted edits. Numbers don't lie and less than 24% of my edits have been deleted. No, the question is not how have I contributed to the projects. The question is is there anything that I haven't contributed to them.  --Bowser the Storm Tracker  Chat Me Up 15:18, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, 24% deleted edits it pretty significant. In the past several months, I have had just four edits reverted. While some of the things you do, creating templates or pages like the one above or what a tropical cyclone is not are disruptive.YE Pacific Hurricane 15:25, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Bowser, you may not mean to be disruptive, but even if your intentions are pure, you're still being disruptive. Take Hurricanehink up on his offer for mentorship. Inks.LWC (talk) 23:02, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A suggestion for Template:Separate

[edit]

Now that you've realized that it's a duplicate and unnecessary, if you truly mean to not be disruptive, I would suggest tagging the page with {{db-author}}, so that the template can be deleted under G7 immediately, instead of having to sit there for 7 days. That at least shows that you're truly trying to work with the community of editors. Inks.LWC (talk) 00:09, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done If there already is one, we don't need another one. {{db-author}} has been added.  --Bowser the Storm Tracker  Chat Me Up 00:15, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

April 2012

[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give April 25–28, 2011 tornado outbreak a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. SudoGhost 00:40, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I will add to this that there is an ongoing rename discussion...please do not move the article until that has been completed. Ks0stm (TCGE) 00:41, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects

[edit]

About all those redirects you created to the super outbreak pages...most of those redirects are unnecessary as it is very infrequently that "Super Outbreak" is confused for "superoutbreak". I have deleted the two most implausible redirects (superoutbreak 1974 and superoutbreak 2011) and left the rest. In the future try to be a little more conservative in creating redirects. Thanks, Ks0stm (TCGE) 01:19, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I know a lot of people who spell it without the space (Actually, I myself tend to do that a lot as well), and when you spelled it without the space before you got sent to a "not found" page.  --Bowser the Storm Tracker  Chat Me Up 09:28, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Summer 2012 North American heat wave, please cite a reliable source for your addition. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Until the template is up and running (and it should have a better name), it should probably be moved to a user's sandbox. I can move it to one of mine and try to work on it if you'd like. What template did you copy and paste the drought template from so I can take a look at the base template and see what might be going wrong? Inks.LWC (talk) 23:29, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've put the template at User:Inks.LWC/Template:Sandbox and got it working (here's a test page User:Inks.LWC/Sandbox7). Is that everything you wanted in it? It should probably have a start and end date (or at least start and end month, since "years" is very vague. Also, how exactly were you determining the intensity? Is it going to be based on the highest intensity on the drought monitor, no matter how small of an area that may be? You should probably get some consensus from other members of WP:Meteorology before this is fully implemented. Inks.LWC (talk) 05:22, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Derecho-radar-max.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Derecho-radar-max.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. The file File:Lighting over dc.tiff has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Orphaned, low quality.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~ Rob13Talk 16:16, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Weather: Map Dot & Template/Infobox Colors

[edit]

Dear project member, This message is being sent out to encourage new ideas and feedback on those proposed in regard to the colors debate for WikiProject Weather. For those who are unaware of what's been happening over the last year, I will give a brief summary. We have been discussing proposed changes to the colors of the dots on tropical cyclone maps and templates and infoboxes across the entire weather project in order to solve issues related to the limited contrast between colors for both normal vision as well as the various types of color blindness (MOS:ACCESS). We had partially implemented a proposal earlier this year, however, it was objected to by a number of people and additional issues were presented that made it evident this wasn't the optimal solution. We tried to come up with other solutions to address the issues related to color contrast, however, none of them gained traction and no consensus was generated.

We need your help and I encourage you to propose your own scale and give feedback on those already listed. Keep in mind that we are NOT making a decision on any individual proposal at this time. We are simply allowing people to make proposals and cultivate them given feedback from other project members. Please visit our project page for additional details. The proposal phase will close no later than December 31st at 23:59 UTC. NoahTalk 04:20, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
