DYK for Private Property (1960 film)
On 3 February 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Private Property (1960 film), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the 1960 crime film Private Property was "condemned" by the National Legion of Decency? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Private Property (1960 film). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Private Property (1960 film)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

DYK for Leonard Cohen: Bird on a Wire
On 5 February 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Leonard Cohen: Bird on a Wire, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a documentary on Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen's troubled 1972 concert tour was completed in 1974 but released theatrically in 2017? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Leonard Cohen: Bird on a Wire. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Leonard Cohen: Bird on a Wire), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Your GA nomination of Mickey Rooney
Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Mickey Rooney you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of SNUGGUMS -- SNUGGUMS (talk) 00:40, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
Paid Editting
I support your concerns about Paid editing. I prefer not to add to the very long discussion at Jimbo's page. If there is an WP:RfC or other discussion of policy change where I can express my opinion, please let me know. Feel free to ping me. I don't think there is much I can say at Jimbo's page to help at this point because of TL;DR. --David Tornheim (talk) 17:56, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
@David Tornheim: I hear you. My own participation was very limited. I've found that those discussions are little more than ways of blowing off steam, and I have no more steam left to blow on that subject. Coretheapple (talk) 18:02, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
inquiry
Regarding the article David Rockefeller Jr., I noticed that you prematurely closed an AFD that you nominated. See here: [1] I can see that you typed in there that you would withdraw the nomination, and something about merge. But then you basically wiped out the discussed article by redirecting it to the patriarchs article.
There needs to be more discussion on this matter, because I would respectfully say that the nominator did an improper close, cut short the normal 7 day time period for discussion, and then redirected the article out of process. With all due respect I would ask you to revert your improper closure, cancel the redirect during a full 7 day period during the AFD, then let someone else close the discussion. Please let me know what you will do. I always could go to deletion review I guess, but I thought I would do you the courtesy of an inquiry to you first. Happy editing! Antonioatrylia (talk) 21:34, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
- OK, I have no problem with that, if I can do so technically. I have withdrawn AfD noms before but I have never withdrawn one and then reopened it. Coretheapple (talk) 21:36, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
- I reopened it and reverted the redirect. Hopefully my closing and then reopening the AfD won't give the system a heart attack. Coretheapple (talk) 21:49, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for your cooperation and good will. Antonioatrylia (talk) 13:49, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
- Oh that's OK. I was actually uneasy about closing the discussion early and have no problem reopening it.Coretheapple (talk) 16:23, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
- I have done some work on this article and I have added two references already. I took today to do some more full research on his life and the accomplishments in his career, if you might call it that, in philanthropy and his work to promote enviromentalism. Also he served on several different boards for the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). Of course, I am aware that notability is not inherited. For example, I read over the articles here for several other notable people that happen to be rockefeller family lineage members. One of Laurance Rockefeller's daughters became a physician, but also had great moves forward in environmentalism. I think her name is rockefeller waletsky. Not sure there are so many rockefellers. Look at the template at the bottom and you can see the lineage and generations down through the cousins level of eight of them alive. I believe this david is the eldest of the cousins. On another note, I certainly did not intend to offend you with this inquiry. I asked in the politest fashion I know. I appreciate you and your editing around here. I have read some of your stuff. You seem to me to be an honorable and decent editor here with excellent demeanor. I hope maybe we can work together in the future on some articles. Thank you. Noel Coward
Hi Cassianto. I've never encountered you before, which made me wonder what motivated you to insert a personal attack in this edit summary. ( "Like an adult"... "mindlessly")? I'd appreciate it if you could comport yourself with greater civility in the future. Thanks. Coretheapple (talk) 18:55, 23 April 2017 (UTC) copying my post, deleted by Cassianto from his talk page
It seems you want to discuss everything other than what you were warring over on Noel Coward. Contrary to the rubbish you just left on my talk page, reverting is mindless as it takes no thinking or skill, whatsoever. To discuss the matter, however, takes thought and patience, something you seem to lack, as you tried to edit war to your preferred version. There's nothing so bloody frustrating than someone adding content to a featured article, having it deleted, and then that person ignoring the WP:BRD process because they feel too aggrieved to have their edits reverted, and reverting. That kind of behaviour doesn't win you friends. Again, go to the talk page, or leave the article alone. Thanks. CassiantoTalk 19:42, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
- Uh no, it's not that I want to discuss "everything but" the Noel Coward edit. I want to caution you on the personal attack in your edit summary [2]. Not working, I guess. Coretheapple (talk) 19:55, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
- Precisely. So rather than discussing your WP:UNDUE edit on Coward's talk page, you'd rather "caution" someone for challenging you for your disruptive behaviour? Seriously, why don't you channel your energies into discussing the issue you clearly have rather than take the moral high ground with me? CassiantoTalk 20:23, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
- I was just taken aback by your edit summary, that's all. Feeling the same your comments above. Strike me as odd. No big deal, though it is to you I guess. Coretheapple (talk) 20:25, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
- I would like to apologise if I've been a little hot-headed over this issue and I hope you can accept this. From where I come from, these kinds of comments are not really deemed as uncivil, but I appreciate that from where you come from, they might be. Although I disagree with you on the Coward article, I don't think you're there to do malice, so I respect you for that. Anyway, no hard feelings. CassiantoTalk 19:46, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

DYK for Law and Order (1969 film)
On 6 May 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Law and Order (1969 film), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Frederick Wiseman intended his 1969 documentary Law and Order as "a chance to do in the pigs", but as he made the film he came to understand the "fear that cops live with"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Law and Order (1969 film). This is to inform you that an attempt is being made to overturn an RfC that you voted on
This is to inform you that an attempt is being made to overturn an RfC that you voted on (2 RfCs, actually, one less than six months ago and another a year ago). The new RfC is at:
Specifically, it asks that "religion = none" be allowed in the infobox.
The first RfC that this new RfC is trying to overturn is:
- 15 June 2015 RfC: RfC: Religion infobox entries for individuals that have no religion.
The result of that RfC was "unambiguously in favour of omitting the parameter altogether for 'none' " and despite the RfC title, additionally found that "There's no obvious reason why this would not apply to historical or fictional characters, institutions etc.", and that nonreligions listed in the religion entry should be removed when found "in any article".
The second RfC that this new RfC is trying to overturn is:
- 31 December 2015 RfC: RfC: Religion in infoboxes.
The result of that RfC was that the "in all Wikipedia articles, without exception, nonreligions should not be listed in the Religion= parameter of the infobox.".
Note: I am informing everyone who commented on the above RfCs, whether they supported or opposed the final consensus. --Guy Macon (talk) 03:21, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

Sorry
Coretheapple, I'm sorry that I didn't respond to your request. You caught me at a bad time. Thursday morning I left for two days at a bluegrass festival with no internet access (or e-mail), and the next two days were taken up with musical gigs, family responsibilities and a large desktop publishing task with a deadline. The few minutes I had for Wikipedia I used in improving an article I'd worked on which was about to be deleted at AfD.
You did your part by adding your !vote to that RfC. The funny thing is, if the editors had just !voted and gone back to editing, the RFC would likely have been closed as delete by now, but all the extra unpleasant ranting will mean it will have to wait for an uninvolved admin who has time to read and consider the whole thing, separating the relevant opinion from the pointless bickering.—Anne Delong (talk) 04:16, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
- Well the RfC went out on one of more widely-followed bots so I don't if it could have been closed quite so quickly or if the RfC initiator would have agreed to it. However I agree that all the WP:BLUDGEONing didn't help. Whether that worked for or against the subject at issue is not clear. Coretheapple (talk) 16:00, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
- Reading this exchange, and looking at what you are referring to, reminded me that some months ago I considered writing an essay on selective enforcement of NPA. I may get around to it but feel free to run with it. Figureofnine (talk • contribs) 15:16, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Coretheapple: @Anne Delong: The subject of selective enforcement of personal attacks was a recurrent theme in an ANI discussion that coincidentally covers the same ground as your exchange above. I didn't see either of you there but you may want to peruse it if it was not on your radar screen.[3] Pinging Jusdafax who commented there. I am semi-retired but may want to commence that essay when I get a chance. I encourage participation by interested parties. Figureofnine (talk • contribs) 13:55, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
- Greetings all. I don't know the RfC in question so I'm at a disadvantage (please give a link so I can get up to speed) but the ANI action against the "bully" (my term) ended with a seeming request for a self-block. As I said there, I'm quite discouraged over the trend at Wikipedia over the past decade to tolerate various forms of abuse. A look at the various statements supporting and opposing sanctions in an extremely clear-cut case, even in the ANI complaint itself, illustrates my concern. Jusdafax 21:50, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
- Jusdafax, the RfC is here. Figureofnine, not sure about the value of an essay that, in effect, is designed to oppose conduct by acknowledging that it exists. Seems a bit cynical. Coretheapple (talk) 16:55, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

Vexing that I have to take the time to do this, but you should be aware...
Hey Core, how you doing? Been a while! I just wanted to let you know that a combative editor (one of the two involved in that ludicrous RfC we were both bot-summoned to) is trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, regarding my having created a subsection for your comment and my response: [4], [5], [6]. I've cited him exactly the section of WP:TPG that allows this to be done, and informed him that I doubt you'd care that I did it even if I wasn't allowed, but he continues to revert, apparently not bothering to read the policy, nor bothering to consult with you regarding whether you'd even care.
I wanted you to be aware of the situation, in case he decides to launches another ANI (he was just bounced from there for a frivolous filing against Therequiembellshire). He has been highly battleground with both his "opposition" in that RfC and with me as the first non-involved editor to respond (despite the fact that my criticism, such as it was, was for both of them). Requiem deserves the credit for botching the RfC, but this other user seems to be even more problematic. Snow let's rap 23:33, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Coretheapple, earlier I thanked you for your contribution to the "RfC" at Talk:White House Press Secretary, because you hit the nail on the head! So thanks again. But as to this new nonsense above, I invite you to please review that page again, as well as the recent edit log. If the above user is indeed your friend, may I ask that you recommend that he/she lower the temperature; stop hurling asinine accusations; learn the actual policies and guidelines he/she is quoting; stop being disruptive; and try adopting a tone of civility and collaboration. Perhaps you can succeed where I have not. Perhaps not, but even the effort can't help but be productive. Thanks once again. X4n6 (talk) 00:44, 27 July 2017 (UTC)
