[edit]Hey. Archiving is normally done using a subpage of your talk page, for example User talk:Punkmorten/(March 2005-June 2006). The page you created looks like the user talk of somebody called User:Punkmorten (March 2005-June 2006)!
Could you please move the page to a more suitable title and delete the redirect from User talk:Punkmorten (March 2005-June 2006) using {{db-author}}? Thankyou. SeventyThree(Talk) 15:21, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Innapropriate delete
[edit]Sorry, I know this isnt how i'm supposed to deal with it, but I couldnt figure out how I was supposed to.
I think you recently deleted an article - Calday Grange CCF. Pretty sure this was an innappropriate delete, as I gave grounds for its notability on the basis of the famous war hero Raymond Holmes having been trained somewhat there during his time as a member. Could you direct me to how I should go about getting it restored please??—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Vwozone (talk • contribs) .
- No, it wasn't inappropriate. The consensus, by a large margin, was to delete the article, therefore it was deleted. It has already been mentioned in the school's main article that Ray Holmes attended there, there's no point creating/restoring another article on the sole basis of something that has already been written (which is what you're suggesting). It's also a very tenuous link - The CCF didn't teach him how to fly a Hurricane fighter, at the very most being there might have convinced him to join the RAF. As i said, tenuous.
- You also seem adamant to ignore advice given to you several times by other users and that was to sign your posts. It also seems highly likely that you're the one posting stuff without signing in aswell. This isn't the way to get people to take you seriously!
- With all that said, if you wish to contend the deletion, do it here - Modulus86 12:02, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

About another delete
[edit]Hello Punkmorten. Looking for the article Temis I found out it has been deleted by you, I'm not sure on which basis. The discussion [1] does not provide much arguments. If the article content (about a software company) was considered as spam, was not it a better option to rewrite the article content from a neutral viewpoint than to delete it altogether? That's what I would have proposed anyway, had I been aware of the discussion in time... universimmedia 09:45, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

More Olympic flags
[edit]Jamaica got its current flag in 1962. Do you know which flag they used before that time ? Punkmorten 11:00, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not really sure. Commons has two (slightly different) images purporting to be of pre-Federation Jamaican flags ([3] and [4]). My guess would be the second of those, as the coat of arms is more similar to Image:Jamaica coa.png. The 1952 and 1956 Official Reports include pictures of teams behind their flags in the opening ceremony; neither picture of Jamaica's flag is that helpful, but the 1956 one ([5], p. 250) appears to support a Blue Ensign defaced with a coat of arms. -- Jonel | Speak 16:52, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry for taking so long to reply. I was at work. The first image —Image:Flag of Jamaica 1906-1957.gif — is the flag that Jamaica used between 1906 and 1957. However, after 1957, Jamaica changed the pattern and added a yellow emblem to the coat of arms— Image:Colonial_Jamaican_flag.gif. In other words, the latter flag is the one used just before independence. Hope that helps. Orane (talk • cont.) 22:11, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Please refer from adding the stub tag to the article Moonika Aava as the article is of so low notability that it is already of start class and not much material can be found on that person. Slovakia
[edit]Hi mate thanks for your Zvolen edit I wasn't aware of that comune. Two with the same name!!. I am currently going through the municipalities in Slovakia and have almost complted the Ba... region. Are you interested in helping me. 80% of Slovakia is uncovered. very poorly developed. Also I am starting articles on Athletics at the Olympics - 1936, 1948 and 1956 do not even exist. I know you are a brilliant contributor in such areas. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:54, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi excellent mate you are a terrific wikipedian! Yeah,SLovakia is different than Italy in that interwikis with italy all have the same name so it is easy to connect them. SLovakia however, I think the names differ from language to language. I set up all the categories of villages and municipalities in Slovakia although I don;t think I've got around to districtizing one region I think. I have put the villages and municipalities in e.g Villages and municipalities in ..... district BUT ALSO Category:Villages and municipalities in ...region for each article. This is very important becasue it not only divides the villages by district to make understanding easier but in the end there is a complete comprehensive list of villages and municips per region. THe two maps I think are very important one to illustrate the district and where that district is in slovakia regionally. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 09:15, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes I have almost completed the Banská Bystrica Region -see the category both pages to see the 400 + articles set out with sub categories also. You'll get a good idea of lay out. The idea is to set up the article and at a later date research each one. I will then start on villages in the Kosice Region. You are welcome to start on the Nitra region if you are interested. All the best Ernst Stavro Blofeld 09:22, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi are you sure that if it is categorized e.g Zvolen District it will automatically be listed in the region category. I was under the impression if it is only under District category it won't be listed on the region page Are you sure? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:29, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi no I have checked it must be listed under both- because if you only listed it as e.g Zvolen District it would not be listed in the list of villages in the REGION which I think is important. So all the villages and municipalities in the ten or so different distrcis can also be compiled in one list Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:34, 29 August 2006 (UTC) .
yes I did notice this but I mean others countries such as Czech the category is villages in the Czech republic!! Imagine if this was the case for Slovakia. There would be thousands in thelist!!!! I agree with you that the list is far overcrowded and that the sub-categories should be on the first page but the regional list is important. Hey I tell you what. How about a new article: List of villages per region of Slovakia. THis way the list will be there and there won't be category overcrowding. Agreed?Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:39, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi I am compiling a list of all the villages and municipalities in Slovakia by region . Have a look at List of villages and municipalities in Slovakia. Once this is done, the articles can be started and listed just under the district subcategory of each region as we agreed. You are still interested in helping? I see that you are currently working on athletes. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 08:08, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
- Yes. Yesterday I created 50+ articles for a district in the Nitra Region. Punkmorten 08:10, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
No I am not doing the hungarian links as they are different names. I know some slovakian wikipedian guy who speaks both the languages and will go through soon. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 18:40, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Missing encyclopedia articles
[edit]Hi, Punkmortem, thanks for checking and removing a few new articles from Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/de, and added the interwiki links to the English wikipedia. However, before you delete them from the list, could you check to make sure that the German wikipedia article includes a link to the English wikipedia? Often a bot adds these later, but sometimes there is a complication (if there are contradictory interwiki links) and it can take a long time (because of the way the bots are programmed, they will find a new interwiki link much faster if it is included in at least one of the existing network of links). Also, it ensures that the link will be there next time and when the list is re-generated (once these articles are dealt with), they won't be included. - Yeah, and? Well, your reaction to "information of a speculative nature" is fair enough, but do you deny that it is a future sport event? Actually, as the template says, "the content may change dramatically as the event approaches and more information becomes available" - in the future we will for instance know which teams will actually play in the league. Punkmorten 20:25, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
Ok, but this isn't a temporary sport "event". And you don't know even which clubs will play next season in the leagues which are already existing. And about the Division Set-up was officially decided. −Yoda1893 20:46, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
- We don't have articles about them either, though (FA Premier League 2007-08 etc). By the way no-one has called any event temporary. Why not just face that this is a sport event which lies in the future? Punkmorten 20:50, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
ok, If you want, add the template ;), although I think it is too general! Yoda1893 21:00, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

Close your AFDs properly!
[edit]You'll see in the new categorised AFDs there is a {{REMOVE THIS TEMPLATE WHEN CLOSING THIS AfD|B}} sign at the top. You need to do as it says to remove the categorisation of closed AFDs. - Hahnchen 22:57, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
- The problem is: I sort of know it's there, but I can't see it. I really can't :( Punkmorten 06:54, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
I have noticed when you closed the above AfD, you did not remove the category template, "REMOVE THIS TEMPLATE WHEN CLOSING THIS AfD". By deleting this when closing it pulls the discussion out of the category. I have deleted it from this discussion, but if you could review any other closures you have done recently and remove the tag from them it would be greatly appreicated. This is a fairly recent change. The guideline is at WP:AFDC. I have been going through the listing in each of the categories CAT:AFD and removing the tag from pages that are closed and adding the approriate category code for those in the uncatagorised group. Thanks.--Gay Cdn (talk) (email) (Contr.) 01:14, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Eritrean names
[edit]I do not understand why in the categorization of pages about people of Eritrean ancestry why you would like the sort key to contain their name? As far as I understand the categorization system, if a sort key is not used it uses by default the page name. As these pages are already formatted as -> "given name" "father's name" (which is the correct format for people of Eritrean descent), I do not understand why it is neccessary to copy this into the sort key. I look forward to your reply. --Merhawie 23:04, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi. I see you closed and deleted the above (a decision I heartily agreed with). You responded to my comment of "maybe userfy" with "I see no particular reason to userfy". I just thought that since it was almost certainly the creator's autobiography, it would be a sign of good faith. I only made the comment since i've been criticized recently for being overly harsh in similar situations. Anyway, thanks for closing, and thanks for deleting. If you have a couple minutes of boredom, I'd really appreciate a short outline of your thoughts on userfying pages that (IMHO) should be {{db-bio}}. I've had a couple contradictory conversations with admins in the past about this topic (seen on my talk page), and I'd like to have your input. Many thanks! :-) --Storkk 23:43, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
- Yes. From my point of view, the article was not that certain to be an autobiography. First, the creator was called Jtab, which is not similar to David Alloggia at all. Many users choose a name and then writes a bio about that name, for instance Michael Maxie / User:Michaelmaxie (the only userfied bio among my last 1000 edits...). In those cases it may be wise can userfy, in my opinion. Because, of course, such a bio is perfectly fine on a user page (as long as it doesn't contain personal attacks, copyvios etc). Second, the creator did not leave many clues that he might he David Alloggia. And since he actually participated in the AFD discussion, he should know that the material was heading down Deletion Road. In my opinion, and in the light of everything I just wrote, it was his own responsibility to save the material - admins are not babysitters. Punkmorten 04:59, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Hey thanks a million for nominating me!! Me article is on the main page!!!!! today! Cheers and thanks for the advice mate. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 10:29, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
What do you think of William Garwood as a new entry? It still needs a bit of work and a photo of him. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:31, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi thanks. I have also put forward William Garwood as a did you know which I am hpoing will feature on it. I known you are probably busy with Athletics but I would love it if you could help me on Slovakia. See my latest ones for layout and the link. It literally takes 30 seconds to find the data by cut and paste. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 18:39, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
I will be gradually going through Slovakia and adding old olympians and the odd bond article Cigar Girl latest but I will now be concentrating on those cool old films and actors. Older films are extremely poorly covered on wiki. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 18:49, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, do you have any idea which of those we should keep as the main article and which as a redirect? SportsAddicted 09:55, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- Unfortunately not. The Google hits are evenly matched. Is there a Thai noticeboard we can ask? Punkmorten 17:39, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe we could hoop up a Thai wikipedian, or we could ask User:Aleenf1 who is Asian and I told him I would contact him when I had any problems with Asian names. SportsAddicted 21:45, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Anthony / Samson Idiata
[edit]hi Punkmorten, You created few months age an article about Nigerian high jumper Anthony Idiata. It states that he won bronze at the 2003 All-Africa Games. On the other hand, according to http://www.gbrathletics.com/ic/afg.htm, the bronze medalist was Samson Idiata. Based on this information, I made a redirect from Samson Idiata to Anthony Idiata. However, after some further googling I'm not anymore convinced whether they are the same person or not. I cant find any concrete evidence which would prove it true or false. Do you have any idea about it? Julius Sahara 18:47, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'm guessing they have changed/corrected the name to Samson some time after I wrote the article. I don't think they are the same person. I'm removing the relevant information from A.I. and we should delete the redirect too.
- By the way, since we're talking about Nigerians, please take a look at User:Punkmorten/Amobi I of Ogidi - do you agree that the pages listed there should be nominated for deletion? Punkmorten 19:10, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- I have very little touch with Nigerian topics so maybe you should ask someone who has more. User:Gozar is only one I can name. Getting verifiable information on african topics is often troublesome. In this case there is very little if any infomation available outside wikipedia so those articles indeed require some attention. Maybe reducing them to a single, smaller article could be a solution? Lee Sa-Vik (Jasenko Sabitovic)
[edit]hello
It must be my mistake that he played for Croatia at the Atlanata Olympics.
According to my sources,
*(http://www.fcbluewings.com/fcsamsungver2006/team_info/team_gk.php3?position=DF&org_code=55) *(http://times.hankooki.com/lpage/sports/200411/kt2004110416470111620.htm)
he surely played for Croatia National Team from 1995 to 1996.
I think he played for the national team for the Olympics but the team didn't qulified.
Sorry for any inconvenience. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Heartnseoul (talk • contribs) .
Yes. It should be Denis Laktionov, not Denis Lationov. Sorry again. (but 'Lee Seong-Nam' is just kind of nickname when he played for the Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma before he moved back to Suwon Samsung Bluewings in 2006.)
In the case of Lee Sa-Vik, it could be both 'Lee Sa-Vik' or 'Lee Savik'. It just doesn't matter much because Korean name is depend on Korean, not English, for example Busan, the second biggest cities in South Korea, people also used call Pusan. You can write Roh Moo-Hyun as the name of president of South Korea, but also like Roh Moohyun or whatever :-p
Anyway, thanks for your kindness. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Heartnseoul (talk • contribs) .
Thanks
[edit]...for inserting the proper flags for a number of countries in the FIFA World Cup hat-tricks list. I forgot all about that when I created it, and I am sincerely greatful for your fixes - I certainly never thought of that. Cheers, and if you wish, feel free to voice your opinion of the article's candidate page for featured list status. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant 11:21, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Hey i just noticed your comment on DJ Bungi's talk page, and that you are an administrator. He has written dozens of stub articles on Bosnian football players (of which I just spend some time fixing the disambiguation links for) which im not even sure are notable - they are just players. (His repeated copyright violations seem questionable as well.) Can you please take a look (if you have the opportunity) at his many football stubs for me? Thanks a lot! --Gregorof 06:16, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
List of faux pas AfD
[edit]I have attempted to answer some of your concerns about the List of faux pas article. In addition to trimming the article to 41 kilobites from 62, I have also added a considerable number of sources for around 80% of it content. It is still a work in progress to remove all the "how to guide" first person tone but I hope that enough of your concerns have been address to maybe reconsider the AfD. Thank you for your time. How do I
[edit]...Request for an article to be moved? ThanksTonycdp 14:07, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
- Answered on your talk page. Punkmorten
The article says it is unclear when the Kjelvik municipality changed its name to Nordkapp. However, in the article Nordkapp it is written that this happened in 1950. This should be rectified. --Eleassar my talk 14:46, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. I initially wrote what I could find in the sources only. Punkmorten 20:58, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
If you could find some references I would be happy not to have the {{unreferenced}} tag on the page. However, as it stands the claims in the article, apart from the DOB and place of birth, are not supported by the links at the bottom of the article. It is because of this that I put the tag back on the article. Cheers, Ansell 02:43, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
- One could always use the {{fact}} tag. Isn't the unref tag for articles with zero references at all? Punkmorten 07:13, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
- I could use the fact tag, but would it get the same visibility as the current tag. The tag, IMO, is for use when there are no substantial references. A profile link on FIFA only fulfils the basics of the first intro sentence, and possibly the ref career dates. The main area of the article currently does have zero references. I was the one to put the tag on months ago btw, and the article has not accumulated any references since so it seems to need the tag either way. Ansell 07:58, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
National Team Articles
[edit]Hi, no idea why your comment was removed as although it appears to have been done via my edit, I went nowhere near that piece of text (at least I don't think I did). Could it have been if we were editing at the same time? Just wanted to clarify what happened (or rather didn't happen) WikiGull 11:00, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
Footballers
[edit]Yes I am all for starting more detailed articles you know this but if I spoke Finnish or knew Nordic languages I would be able to translate. Also I did check and other wikipedias do not yet have articles on these players. You see other than English I only speak Spanish and French so such translation is difficult. I feel like you are trying to tell me off. What?! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 18:16, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
It is the same for several Dutch painters I have started. If I could speak Dutch I could translate from dutch wikipedia where it has a full article and could research from elsewhere when it is in Dutch. Surely you realise there limitations. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 18:19, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
Anyway I seem to recall you starting stubs on footballers not so long ago.
Most of my later entries do have birth dates and some personal info. I only discovered the external sites till late so you have possibly seen some of my earlier ones where I created small-stubs.
Hi yes it is annoying that I have all the outside links in finnish with quite a lot of detail which I can't translate. Trust me I would like to write as much detail as I can. between me and you - I promise that if I start a footie bio stub again I will always try to add birth dates and try to add a tiny little bit of info. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:19, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
Bandcruft
[edit]Why is it that you deemed Winter Solstice (band) not to meet speedy deletion criteria? It is an alleged band that has no assertion of notability, which means it can be speedy deleted, surely? I listed it for AfD anyway, but I just want to understand. Thanks. The Crying Orc 18:44, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Lara Kappler
[edit]How could you delete the Lara Kappler article you big jerk! :shakesfist:. She's really pretty and that's just totally lame of you to delete the article, even if it doesn't quite meet the rules. It's the principal that matters. Also, what is a GHit, and how does one view the number of "GHits" a page gets? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Obeejw (talk • contribs) .
- If I may be bold in answering, I think GHit refers to the number of Google results that a topic has. If you type the subject into Google and search, the number of results equals the number of "GHits". Ansell 05:37, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- Let me just note that the article was deleted through AFD. The nomination, which indeed spoke about GHits, was not made by me. Punkmorten 06:26, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Turkcell Super League
[edit]I see that you have dealt with several vandalous IPs at Turkcell Super League. I have listed all the IPs at WP:OP and WP:AN/I. Presumably you intend to nominate the other half of the squad for deletion? The other entries look just as sparse and hopeless as the ones nominated so far. ;-) Ohconfucius 10:40, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- I wanted the nomination to go through unanimously, therefore I only included the players which certainly failed WP:BIO. Some meets the guidelines, like Padovani, some are more of in a grey zone. Punkmorten 11:50, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

St Kilda Football Club 2006 playing list
[edit]Hi. The reason the list doesn't correspond with the one on the St Kilda FC article is because the 2006 AFL season is now over, so the current list reflects what the list will be like in 2007 (lists aren't finalised yet, mind you, until after the draft). A precedent for lists has been set at Category:Australian rules football player lists. Rogerthat Talk 00:38, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- Check out Adelaide Crows 1991 Playing List for example. The player list on the St Kilda Football Club article is the provisional list for the 2007 season. The list I pasted onto St Kilda Football Club 2006 playing list was the list for the 2006 AFL season, which spans from February-September 30, 2006. Hope that clears things up for you. [edit]Hi! I'm pretty new to wikipedia so I'm not exactly sure how things work around here, but I just wanted to let you know I saw your request for a translation of the article on Tokke, and made an english translation. Standard table format
[edit]Ciao! Thanks very much for the great number of additions of athletes. However, can I ask you to use the standard wikitable format? It is simply: {|class="wikitable" !name1 ||Name || Etc and so on. Also, for world and European medallists is available the medal table that, for example, you can copy-paste from Pietro Mennea or others. Thank you again. --Attilios 16:24, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Image:Terrorband.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Terrorband.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok ☠ 03:12, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Hungarian dispute
[edit]Hi mate. I have a dispute I would like your opinion on. Having completeed Slovakia User:MarkBA and myself are sorting out Hungary and its villages by county. However User:Gene Nygaard has been very rude about our work particularly with categorization. If you visit Category:Cities, towns and villages in Hungary you will see that each of its counties are subcategorized off into the appropriate county and that even now the main list is far too bloated. We have completed Bács-Kiskun county and it is looking 100 times better than before.
Currently every article is categorized just as Cities, towns and villages in Bács-Kiskun county or whatever county it is and only cities and towns should also be categorized as
I don't know what to do because regardless of whether we have the main
Category:Cities, towns and villages in Hungary for the villages or not the Hungarian city info box we have been using puts it in their automatically. Of ocurse then there is no way to index it properly . this is what is causing the problems The way the stop villages going in the main category is to not use the info box on them but then info such as postcode area code etc will not be included. What shall I do?Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:52, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
However user:gene Nygaard is adament that every entire place in Hungary every village goes in the two cateogires:
Category:Cities, towns and villages in ...county
Category:Cities, towns and villages in Hungary
Because all of the villages created so far are not like this User:Gene Nygaard is basically saying that all of the new entries are worthless and is seriously bullying User Mark BA But do you realise how out of order the main category will be when everyhting is done?
There are thousands of villages in Hungary I thought that was the whole point of sub cateogies to break it up appropriately and sensibly. User Nygaard has even threatened to block Mark from his work.
I beleive that only Cities and towns e.g with a population over 3,000 should be listed in the national category.
Please let me know what you think and post your opinion to User talk:Gene Nygaard and User talk:MarkBA and of course to me. I would really appreciate your intervention in this. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 12:48, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
p.s Also see what a good job Mark and myself have done on Template:Bács-Kiskun All of the places ar enow in alphabetical order and have now been started but also new pages linking from it such as Economy of Bács-Kiskun have been created. I think this is very valuable and missing work to the project yet Nygaard beleives it too be terrible. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 12:54, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
Yes we have sorted out that major problem. Looks a lot tidier. No I think only cities and towns should be listed there in the main section in both categories. technically it should be Cities and towns in Hungary. Gradually I will remove any remaining villages from in this category. But if the main category Cities towns and villlages in Hungary is kept, a clear note needs to be stated on the page as you said that only towns and cities should be listed in two categories.
