Unhelpful edits

[edit]

Hi Hamarberg, I'm Griceylipper. I've reverted some recent edits you have made to both the Shetland and Northern Isles articles, as they were removing uncontroversial mentions of Scotland, and making bold claims about Shetland's inclusion in the country of Scotland. Any such bold claims must have reliable sources to back them up. In addition to this, many templates which make the article display properly were broken in doing so. I appreciate Wikipedia editing is not the easiest to get the hang of to begin with, however if you do want to continue to make constructive and well-sourced edits, I recommend you try editing in your own sandbox first to get the hang of the results of changing templates. I do appreciate your additions to the Baltasound article, however you didn't include any source - do you know of a source for the name of Baltasound, or a source for the alternative spelling? All Wikipedia content must have some form of written source to prevent anyone making up false claims and propagating them through Wikipedia. If you are able to let me know of a source I will gladly help you include this as a source in the article. Otherwise I will have to revert this too. Moar

[edit]

Please note that disambiguation pages like Moar are meant to help readers find a specific existing article quickly and easily. For that reason, they have guidelines that are different from articles. From the Wikipedia:Disambiguation dos and don'ts you should:

  • Only list articles that readers might reasonably be looking for
  • Use short sentence fragment descriptions, with no punctuation at the end
  • Use exactly one navigable link ("blue link") in each entry that mentions the title being disambiguated
  • Only add a "red link" if used in existing articles, and include a "blue link" to an appropriate article
  • Do not pipe links (unless style requires it) – keep the full title of the article visible
  • Do not insert external links or references - Wikipedia is not a business directory

Detail about the name Moar is not really appropriate for a disambiguation page, which is simply for navigation and shouldn't contain material that isn't already included in an article. If you have reliable sources, you could add information to an existing article or start an article on the name. Leschnei (talk) 15:30, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
