Question?
Jim, I've been a fan on Wiki but your recent comment to me put me off. On the Color Palate were colors WITH NO CITATIONS you made a comment to me. The University of Tennessee's color was already there and the color was wrong. There were already these school's colors there. LOOK AT MY CITATION, you couldn't get any better. Citations keep everyone honest, right? I want FACTS when I come to Wiki or it is useless.
Back in 1993 in an Information Services graduate class, the librarians were giddy about this new thing called the Internet. I called out into an abyss that if so, "who would know what the truth was?" Books take a small fortune to produce (more so back then), a web page...NOTHING.
Everyone here should be guardians of Truth and call out all the BS (that is worse with this platform being open, but I understand the reasons).
I grew up and helped built this Internet with Cisco routers and switches.
Be careful with the Newbies and take in all sides and realize that for some things: 'who cares?'
Sincerely, CPAugustin3 (talk) 01:26, 23 May 2018 (UTC)CPAugustin3
- @CPAugustin3: Thanks for pointing that out. I removed them. They are pretty much unsourced anyway. If they are unsourced, how do you know if they are correct? Even then... Many of the colors actually link to a page with a source, or should. Anyway, if a some things are unsourced does that mean nothing needs to be sourced? Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 04:11, 23 May 2018 (UTC)
- I am really disappointed in the approach of just tear it down/remove it! These schools actually have unique and valid colors. Why not just put up the Pantone colors as they have and forget about it? It's because no one will understand. Is Wikipedia trying to be understandable and responsible still? NO, I call foul. I will not contribute knowing that legitimate fact and truth can be washed away by someone who just doesn't agree with the "feel." Goodbye all. This place is not trustworthy. CPAugustin3 (talk) 04:50, 23 May 2018 (UTC)CPAugustin3
- @CPAugustin3: You are giving up already? The data is in the wp:page history, it's not gone. Take the number of schools and companies, multiply by the number of colors and you probably get a number in the hundred of thousands. Limit them? Who decides? Same with companies. Please start a "List of school colors" and "List of company colors". Perhaps a "list of country colors", state colors, military colors, nonprofit colors, etc. Please go into the page history and extract the school colors and start an article. Maybe the article should be titled list of common / basic / public domain colors instead. If you think they should be on the list of colors, please go to the talk page, start a wp:RfC and make a suggestion. Please keep the discussion under one header. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 05:55, 23 May 2018 (UTC)

- @Truther1515: Removing information that is sourced to professionally-published mainstream academic or journalistic sources IS disruptive. Just because you're not happy with information or it doesn't fit into your worldview doesn't mean it's not neutral. Given that you don't understand that InfoWars is fake news, you should probably avoid articles relating to politics. Ian.thomson (talk) 13:54, 26 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi
Hey,
Thank you for letting me know. I am still interested in contributing the article but the focus is to not be promotional but more to add information about the movement I am starting through the magazine so that people can learn about it.
I will cite to websites that are not the Vegan Kids Magazine website and refer more to other articles so that it can add context to how the magazine relates to the wider community.
This is the first wikipedia article that I have ever written so I was unaware of the restrictions but now that I know I will make a great effort to fall within the lines.
I have been a long time Wikipedia reader and I would like to be part of the community.
Kindest regards,

Nintendo 3DS edits
Hello, Jim. I made some minor wiki edits, correcting a blatant oversight with good intentions. I basically removed the word "console" referring to the 3DS and mention of its successors and predecessors. and replaced it either with "system" or "handheld." You mentioned to my edits being undone, referring to them as being a "test." Not sure what that means, but no, I was correcting an oversight.
note, I did not change the wording when talked about Nintendo's "Virtual Console," as that is the proper title of their classic line of games. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:601:1500:B3D0:7C3E:AAC:74CF:14F1 (talk) 02:25, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
- I undid your edit as you 'broke' links. The article's name is handheld game console. Handheld game system wp:redirects to the former. There is no article Eighth generation of video game system (note wp:redlink), only Eighth generation of video game consoles. Emigrate vs. immigrate
If you wish to litigate the usage of emigrate vs. immigrate, please do so at Talk:Felix Sater and allow consensus to form before changing it. My talk page is not the proper forum. KalHolmann (talk) 02:23, 4 June 2018 (UTC)
Hi Jim, thanks for noting my spelling error. I came back to fix but saw that it had been sorted.
Whilst you are correct regarding e-migrate being "away/out/from" and im- being "toward/in/to", it's not as simple as checking to see whether the word "to" or "from" is used. It's always relative to the subject and in this case the subject is Russia.
The implied sentence is actually "The family emigrated from Russia to Israel..." and I'm sure you can see that "emigrated" is correct here. The author has simply chosen not to specify where the family is emigrating from since that is taken as understood, but it doesn't change the grammar/syntax.
I expect that this article will attract some attention over the next couple of days. Keep up the good work. 121.44.55.81 (talk) 02:25, 4 June 2018 (UTC)

- Hi, Jim1138. This IP user is an WP:SPA, and tried to introduce the same WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS content (as well as remove well sourced content) only recently from another IP address (see 37.24.9.202). I suspect that the user already has an account as Janos Hajnal, and is part of a long string of sock accounts/IPs of this earlier IP. I've been keeping an eye on articles dealing with subject matter within their scope of interest. They're definitely WP:NOTHERE, so I'll file a report in order that they be blocked should they continue with their disruptive editing as soon as I trace the activity back further to the sockmaster. There has been a heck of a lot of activity from the region this person operates from over the years, so it'll take a little sorting to get down to their earliest incarnation. Cheers! --Iryna Harpy (talk) 19:04, 4 June 2018 (UTC)
Stalking by a moderator is unacceptable and has been reported
You had no reason to go to the Danial Jackson page Jim. Your actions are a classic example of moderator harrasment and fall within the legal category of internet stalking. - I know what you mean. We've worked collaboratively for some years, and there's a massive difference between a pat on the head for some sort of one off 'anti-vandalism' thanks for an editor who's only worked a specific area, and a (genuinely) heartfelt thanks from someone who knows just how much good work you do consistently, right across the board, and somehow always maintaining your patience in AGFing some appallingly rude people who have no interest in how Wikipedia works. Again, it's thanks from the bottom of my soul... all the way down to my socks! --Iryna Harpy (talk) 05:13, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
Reza Deghati
Hello Jim,
Thank you very much for your message. I will try to explain the situation. I represent Reza Deghati within his photo Agency Webistan. Wikipedia has become a place where people go to learn new things. That's why I thought it was important to write a text with the information we have on Reza Deghati that others might not have to improve the article.
Few accounts often erase completely what we posted. At first I didn't understand why they I found out that I didn't put sources. I will take the time to add source.
The existing article is full of sources but most of them are dead link. We are adding sources and our edits are always deleted by the two same accounts.
We want to improve Reza Deghati's article not to destroy it or at the opposite use it as a promotion tool. We just want to have an article the most complete possible.
Thanks again for your time and interest for Reza.

This is completely unacceptable.
- No, it is not well sourced. Two news sites reporting about an arrest is not adequate sourcing for "most firearms in cartels come from US civilians". And I did mention that on the talkpage, before you reverted it as you disliked my opinions.
- The edits on Lee Child are based on his clear writings in his books.
- Your going to my contribution history and reverting my edits is completely unacceptable.
- Your archiving the discussion ABOUT the reverts is also unacceptable.
If you can explain how an arrest indicates most firearms in cartels come from US civilians, and if you have even read Lee Child's literature, we can have a civil discussion. Until then, quit reverting talk threads and trolling to push your personal ideology. Jasonbourne033 (talk) 10:43, 5 June 2018 (UTC)

Updated
Hello Jim1138, the update was made to account for the fact that the lawsuit was recently settled. Also, based on reading the lawsuit, the circumstance of the founder's leaving was in dispute, so whatever previously stated was incorrect. The litigation section heading was also removed because there seems to be way too much emphasis on this at the expense of everything else, such as investors, financing, products, marketing, business model, technology, etc. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Naturefac (talk • contribs) 13:43, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
Nedumpally edit
Hello. I've not added any information, but I've removed information which was irrelevant to the page and factually incorrect. A user had added that most Christians in Kerala (a place in India) were converted during the British-Indian Era when in fact, it's well known that India had a Christian population from at best the 1st century and at worst the 4th century. The Wikipedia page on the St. Thomas Christians have all the citations for their origin.
The user also added a biased and irrelevant view of the arrival of St. Thomas to India, in which he claimed that 'St. Thomas never visited India' while citing a few sources which don't prove that claim. Now, it's known that there isn't any direct historical evidence that he did arrive to India, but there is significant scholarship arguing that he did, or at the very least, historians are agnostic to this claim. Moreover, whether St. Thomas arrived to India is not of direct concern of the Nedumpally page, which speaks of a single family and that is more relevant to the Indian Christian history pages. You have to note there are some Hindu-propagandist groups in India out to make other religions in India foreign and to lower their claim to equal footing in historical citizenship, so you should keep this in mind. Hi Jim ...
I am one of the invested members of the Baker Street Irregulars. You may have heard of us.
Concerning the four Caedmon albums on which Basil Rathbone reads the Holmes cases, I own all four of them. I realize that is not enough to qualify for proof of citation, so I was about to locate a reputable source to obtain the code numbers on the Caedmon label.
I don't know how to add photos of the album covers should there be any online. May I ask you to find them?

Hello Jim,
I understood that you undid some changes I made to the article about Chris Barber. I am one of the current Band Members of the Chris Barber band. There were some changes in the line-up. One person left and the other passed away, that's why I thought it was neccesairy. In the progress I changed some things since I thought it was all written in one too long line, tried to make it better readable.
The information about the changes all can be checked on the Chris Barber official website: www.chrisbarber.net
My real name is Bert Brandsma, I play clarinet with the Chris Barber band.
I am absolutely not an expert of wikipedia, so hope you could help me, cleaning it and making it better readable.

- Are there other articles that can be referenced? Wikipedia prefers that information sources are not from the subject's own website: wp:selfpublished. wp:Secondary sources are preferred such as magazines, newspapers, etc. Please include other information needed to find the articles or line such as page number of magazines or books. An ISBN or ASIN would be helpful for a book. Online sources are easier to verify. Please leave links here and I'll add them to the article. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 21:35, 7 June 2018 (UTC)

Your revert to my change on the Sexism article
Hi Jim, you reverted my recent change to the sexism article saying that the paragraph I moved didn't fit in the 'Language' section. However, I didn't put it into Language, I put it into the 'Occupational Sexism' section (the next section after Language).
The paragraph is about negative attitudes towards women being in the workplace - this seems a natural fit for Occupational Sexism to me, which also discusses the gap in hiring women, the pay gap and so on. I know it's sort-of related to stereotypes, but more or less anything you say about sexism touches on stereotypes in some way, and this paragraph doesn't connect with the rest of the content in that section. I don't want to start a slow edit war, but would you look again and see if you think it's really better in the 'Stereotypes' section?Girth Summit (talk) 16:40, 9 June 2018 (UTC)

African-Americian
'African-American is an inaccurate term when speaking of Black people. There are nine countries in Africa with large populations of White people, that have lived in their respective countries for 300+ years. Those living in America, having changed their citizenship to American, are technically 'African-American'. The term needs to be refined, or replaced with a more accurate term. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:8084:9062:9C80:44A2:3A42:5847:2F45 (talk) 09:22, 10 June 2018 (UTC)

Tyler Henry
There are many pages with such openings, and I take issue with that. It's an opening; it should list what they're known for, and mention the fact that there is controversy as well, then confine the details of the controversy to the appropriate section.
It's rooted in bias, regardless of how correct someone feels that bias might be, to lead with only negative sources. The facts should be presented neutrally. Criticism being cited in excess or exclusively, regardless of source, is as biased as writing an opinion. If the goal is to be unbiased, then why is the critism on this page and pages like it so extensive and prominent? It's not balanced, and doesn't leave room for alternate opinions and beliefs.
