Your RfA

Typically we don't keep untranscluded or declined RfAs around on Wikipedia, and since you have made it clear that you do not want to become an admin, I can either delete the page for you or move it to a subpage in your userspace. Eagles 24/7 (C) 23:15, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

Makes sense. How about to the userspace? I'll link to it from my page, and if I ever change my mind, at least I'll have a few old answers to look at as I write the new answers. -- ke4roh (talk) 23:19, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
I think that is best, especially considering the amount of time you just spent on the decline reasoning. I'll move it for you now. Eagles 24/7 (C) 23:21, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
It is now located at User:Ke4roh/Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Ke4roh. Eagles 24/7 (C) 23:26, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:TBE Logo.png

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:TBE Logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude2 (talk) 05:43, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Some sourcing for official languages of US States

English-only movement#Current law article links to this source. In the sase of North Carolina, I followed the link there to this page and, fearing that information found there might be outdated, confirmed the information with what looked to be a more reliable source. Cheers. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 09:30, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

You're right. Evidently North Carolina isn't the only state so paranoid as to consider a constitutional amendment in addition to a statute. You'll see I've updated the states at List of official languages by state#U and found from that same web site a page discussing all the states. I'm thinking to make a template out of that table and transclude it into English-only movement#Current law as well as Languages of the United States#Official language status. -- ke4roh (talk) 09:53, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Tornado chart script

Are you sure that your script isn't seeing an old, cached version of the page? An IP just added something like 15 tornadoes and the number went down... -RunningOnBrains(talk) 23:30, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Also, a visual count of the number of EF4s clearly shows that there are 11 listed, but your script only sees 9. One of these I added 8 hours ago! -RunningOnBrains(talk) 23:35, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
Looks like it was a cache issue. Not sure why it might have been caching for a long time, but evidently it was. I updated the Windows script on the template page to purge the cache. -- ke4roh (talk) 00:25, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Looks good, thanks for the quick action! -RunningOnBrains(talk) 01:59, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

Cat removal reason?

I'm just curious, why did you remove Road traffic control from the road transport category? I just thought I'd ask before I undid it.--'Triskele Jim (talk) 01:34, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

I'm trying to organize Category:Road traffic management which I just made a sub-category of Category:Transport engineering, and particularly make some logical grouping of articles within the category I just created, Category:Traffic signals. To your question, Road traffic control is already included in Category:Road transport by way of Category:Road traffic management (which should probably also be removed) and Category:Traffic signs. Thanks for asking! -- ke4roh (talk) 01:42, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

Commons street sign categorization

I have been consolidating the street signs from commons into the various road signs categories. This is not a deliberate assault on the street sign category tree, but rather a bit of a misunderstanding on my part and that of other editors. It would appear that the intention of the "street signs" tree was to capture signs whose intention was to give the name of a street, whereas road signs would have all manner of other instructions. In some cases, the content of the "street" categories reflected that, and in others they appeared to be mixed. My initial interpretation was that the street sign tree was an accidental duplication of the road signs tree, but upon some reflection (after I moved a bunch of pictures to other places), it appears that there is a valid reason to keep them separate. I will have a look at re-separating them in a little bit if someone else doesn't beat me to it. -- ke4roh (talk) 02:52, 14 August 2011 (UTC)

RE: Dumbledore's Army

Someone on the talk page of the article gave a link to higher res photo. You are right either way: the image is promotion and not a screenshot; in the film they do not line up like that. The FUR does need to be change. Would that call for a change of FUR template? Glimmer721 talk 21:05, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

MRI contrast agent

Hi Ke4roh, sorry, I had to undo your changes in the section about Manganese enhance MRI. The statement "Mn2+ enters cells through Calcium Ca2+ channels, so Mn2+ facilitates functional brain imaging." is misleading. There are many types of functional brain imaging and Mn2+ is one type, it doesn't facilitate the other types at all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cwule (talkcontribs) 18:40, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing that. My effort has been to make the article readable to lay people, being one myself with respect to MRI contrast agents, and occasionally that trips up the actual meaning of things by accident. -- ke4roh (talk) 01:55, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Regarding Willow Spring

See any of these sources. The name is Willow Spring, and the towns official webpage confirms that, a source I also linked when I made the change. What is your source that the name has an s at the end? If you disagree, you need to provide sources which contradict the sources I have provided. --Jayron32 22:14, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for settling that. That article has scarce little in the way of references. Don't you find it funny that the page going on about the absence of an "s" is at a URL including exactly that loathsome letter? -- ke4roh (talk) 00:52, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, its all a little sketchy, but you know how these unincorporated places are. I hear both uses locally, but the USPS designation for 27592 is Willow Spring, and the USPS database has a specific note that the S is not an acceptable alternative. Google Maps also uses Spring. I think the name gets confused with the neighboring Holly Springs, North Carolina which does have the S. But anyway. --Jayron32 01:27, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Misidentification of H-1 turbopump images

The two photos you uploaded which you labelled "H-1 turbopump" actually are photos of H-1 propellant valves. If you look at the full-size version of [1], you can see the "H-1 Propellant Valves" sign.

You can see a diagram of the H-1 turbopump and the Main LOX Valve (MLV) and Main Fuel Valve (MFV) on page 4-12 (page 68 in the PDF) of the Skylab Saturn IB Flight Manual -- the turbopump is nestled in below #19 and #4 (it is labelled, a bit under #5). The propellant valves are #6 and #11.

Strictly speaking, the museum doesn't display an S-3D turbopump, just the turbopump's turbine. See a diagram of the turbopump and turbine on page 21 of this H-1 PDF. See also that document's diagrams of the MLV on page 41 and the MFV on page 46. Similar MLV diagram on page 1-43 (page 48 in the PDF) and MFV diagram on page 1-46 (51 in PDF) of H-1 Rocket Engine Data (it also has a cut-away diagram of the turbine on page 1-52, page 57 of the PDF).

Photos of the USSRC's turbine are available at [2].

I'm not certain as to which of your photos is the MLV and MFV. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Heroicrelics (talkcontribs) 19:34, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

Hello Ke4roh

Hi How are you? Where are you from and how long have you been an editor here at Wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeromekaram (talkcontribs) 02:45, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi, Jeromekaram, you can find those answers and more at my user page, User:Ke4roh. I live in North Carolina, and I've been contributing to Wikipedia for 10 years this October. -- ke4roh (talk) 02:53, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
Wow that is amazing! I once applied to work for Wikipedia because I was such a big fan and have finally decided to contribute. I was wondering if you can help me improve this encyclopedic listing here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photon_Interactive Any advice and help so I can become a star editor is greatly appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeromekaram (talkcontribs) 03:00, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
It'll take awhile to get to "star editor," I think. I'm glad to see you're starting new articles and finding good sources of information to back up the articles. That's one of the first hurdles. Be alert for conflicts of interest. It is not okay to edit Wikipedia for money, your employer, or your client. Have a look at the Manual of Style and see how it can inform you about how to write for Wikipedia. Join a WikiProject of interest to you and help them with their efforts. Work on making a Good Article such as SA-500D. After you get a good article, go for featured. Hang in there all the while - a few cranky people will write nasty, thoughtless crap on your talk page. Take things there with a grain of salt to make them palatable.
Regarding Photon Interactive especially, watch out for peacock terms and wording such as, "over 500 offices." Also, it is not clear to me why the article is called "Photon Interactive" and the article talks about "Photon Infotech". -- ke4roh (talk) 17:38, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

Why are you a Wikipedia Vandal?

How can we stop your vandalism here at Wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeromekaram (talkcontribs) 19:31, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

Jeromekaram, inclusion of unfavorable information, such as that you recently removed, and I subsequently restored, is not vandalism. It's completeness. Wikipedia would be much less useful without such completeness. I see that you have been engaged in sabotaging that section [3] [4] as well. Your efforts in that respect seem to align strikingly well with those of User:Ericjcarrmiddletownde. Might you be engaged in sock puppetry? That's against the rules. But so is WP:Libel, such as this accusation of vandalism you've leveled against me. There is a process for [resolution] as well. Have a look at that, and let's discuss the content with which you take issue on the article's talk page as I have suggested. Let us not engage in an edit war. -- ke4roh (talk) 20:11, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited YAML, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Rx (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Maybe the merge is what's needed, though I was originally thinking it would be good to have an article about the stuff from STS-59 and STS-68. I have been stumped with the Lost City of Ubar which was much-touted and would be neat to include as a WP:DYK. I have a number of papers, highlighted on my desk, with findings from SIR-C/X-SAR, but time to put in their findings is scarce. Let's collaborate somehow! -- ke4roh (talk) 17:15, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

Deeth Starr image

Hi! The section Cultural impact on the Death Star article needed some clean up and I removed an image you uploaded, because I consider it to be unencyclopedic. Your image may be funny, but is just a vague reference and has no impact whatsoever. What do you think? Should I open a request for deletion (once I figure out how to do it)? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Heinerj (talkcontribs) 12:00, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for asking. I obviously originally thought it worthy of inclusion and went to the trouble to find a free image, put it in the article, and find some references that at least began to support the relationship between the location sign and the non-moon. I put the same contribution on Interstate 80 in Nevada (talk, as it was) and Nevada State Route 230 (talk, as it was). Both were promptly removed. Alas, I lack the patience to defend it further and/or put it back, so as you wish. -- ke4roh (talk) 23:21, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
Please don't consider my edit an attack worth defending from! Since you think it should be included, but lack the motivation to discuss it, I'll wait and see if someone else reverts my edit. In the mean time, do you think it can be useful in other Wikimedia projects? Heinerj (talk) 23:30, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks again for your courtesy. No, not an attack, just a differing opinion. See my comments on those talk pages regarding its relevance for the highway pages. I thought it more dubious on Death Star than on the highway pages, imagining it especially belongs on SR 230 since that's one end of the road. I do appreciate a touch of character in the encyclopedia, be it for including the odd (Lily Flagg, Miss Baker) or the unusual (Grundy County arson), but I also understand that not every bit of minutæ can be included, and a bunch of people must appreciate the work for it to stand. Consider this contribution which was reverted as "vandalism" after a few hours.
Regarding the image on commons, I would recommend leaving it even though no articles use it at present. Someone may wish to use it later for whatever purpose. There are myriad such images on commons.
Thank you again for your exemplary courtesy in this matter. -- ke4roh (talk) 04:02, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

DYK for Pete Frank

On 2 August 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Pete Frank, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Apollo flight director Pete Frank was a finalist for NASA Astronaut Group 5? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Pete Frank. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Pete Frank), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Notice

The article Bunkie board has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

More than a decade of being an unreferenced stub. Googling doesn't find any secondary sources.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:27, 17 February 2022 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Elyse Myers, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. MaxnaCarta (talk) 10:24, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
