Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Good stub article, I would try and add more links to English sources and references (e.g. I have added the IMDb tag at the bottom), which will help with notability and readability (e.g. imagine a BBC researcher trying to use this article to understand Yazgan). well done.

I have just reviewed the page, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Good (and interesting) article. Your lede is probably a bit long vs. the body text (excluding tables), so you might want a simpler lede. Also, again try and add more English references to help. thanks

Ways to improve Sahiden

Hello, Keivan.f,

Thanks for creating Sahiden! I edit here too, under the username Britishfinance and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:-

(per earlier comments on your articles on albumns); the lede is very simple so the article is probably closer to stub status - if you can add even a few more sentances on the album (how it did, critical reception), then it would be a full article. thanks and well done.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Britishfinance}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Great articles you are doing on Turkish media in English WP! If you can also find English sourced references (e.g. English newspapers), that would be great. thanks

Can you please upload pictures of the members of the Ottoman family. Retrieverlove 10:51, 22 January 2019 (UTC)

@Retrieverlove: Could you be more specific? Like, about which individuals are you exactly talking about? By the way, we do not always have historical images or portraits available, especially for female members of the dynasty. Keivan.fTalk 18:24, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
  • I'm talking about the 19th and 20th century ottoman princes and princesses. The pictures are present on the internet.Retrieverlove 18:50, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
I'll try to see what I can do because before uploading them, the identity of the person shown in the photo needs to be verified by a source. Keivan.fTalk 18:53, 17 February 2019 (UTC)

Section deletion at Antalya

I noticed that you deleted the People section from the article on Antalya with an edit summary of unsourced. Note that almost all of those entries have sources for their birthplaces in the actual articles themselves, so I have restored the section to the article. It would be better to add sources from the respective articles than delete the entries. — MarkH21 (talk) 05:05, 30 March 2019 (UTC)

@MarkH21: Then you should either add the sources yourself or refrain from restoring the section as an unsourced portion of the article cannot be kept merely because it's been mentioned on some other page that the person is from Antalya. Keivan.fTalk 05:09, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
If you literally look at the other articles, there are sources that demonstrate that they are from Antalya. Of course the responsibility ultimately lies with the editor who added the material, but I have added the sources of those that are immediately obvious after I restored them. It's fine to remove the parts that are unsourced both at Antalya and the original article, but it's really not hard to check that half of those do have sources before deletion. — MarkH21 (talk) 05:14, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
@MarkH21: Since I was busy editing a number of different articles at the same time, I didn't really pay attention to the details of each article, but I'm glad that you were able to find sources for a number of them. I'll try to go over them later myself, and remove those for whom no reliable source about their birth place can be found. Keivan.fTalk 05:16, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks! — MarkH21 (talk) 05:17, 30 March 2019 (UTC)

Catherine "Kate Middleton"

Hi,

I saw that you undid my edit (https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Catherine,_Duchess_of_Cambridge&diff=896387937&oldid=896382224); you advised me to discuss it on the talk page, so I did and added a section. But I also added back the statement into the article because you didn't offer a clear reason why you removed it, only saying to discuss it; if someone has a valid issue then let them state why in the talk section before undoing the edit. I think it's within reason to state that she is called Kate Middleton - the last paragraph of the lead section has "Kate Middleton effect" as a separate article link - so since that name has its own article, shouldn't we just clarify that the media calls her that? Makes sense to me. Plus, almost 70-80% of the reference articles at the bottom of the page use "Kate" in the headlines- just do a search and see. Thanks. 2605:6001:E00A:8E00:C8B5:1EE3:2B0E:3C3F (talk) 18:28, 12 May 2019 (UTC)

[Edit]- Sorry I forgot to login into my normal account for the above comment. Also, my mistake, that "Kate Middleton effect" wasn't an article link like I thought, but the point is that they still used the name in the article so they acknowledge its importance.Rush922(talk) 18:40, 12 May 2019 (UTC)
I'm glad that you started a discussion on the article's talk page. I left my comment there. Now we have to wait for the outcome. Keivan.fTalk 00:07, 15 May 2019 (UTC)

You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Some unsourced content needs to be deleted, sure, such as some of the stuff you cut in other articles. But this, as Beyond My Ken rightly notes, is not in any reasonable way doubtful or incredible. So please stop--if you with to improve the article, help find the sources. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 22:15, 11 July 2019 (UTC)

@Drmies: Hi. Well, I just reverted his edit once, so there's no need to panic because I'm not going to do that again. Besides, I know that the paragraph as a whole is true. That's covered in our history classes, yet the details may be wrong and/or misleading, that's why I decided to remove it. But since you want to keep it this way, I just prefer to step back and let an expert handle the situation by maybe finding a reliable source. Keivan.fTalk 22:18, 11 July 2019 (UTC)
Sure, but you removed it twice. I doubt I'm an expert, but since you're a Wikipedia editor, you know how to do this, find reliable sources and all that--go for it, find them, and that is much more rewarding for all of us. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 22:20, 11 July 2019 (UTC)

Removal of ref and content from Doria Ragland article

It's not clear to my why you have been removing content, including references, from the Doria Ragland article. I recommend the use of edit summaries both in general and especially on edits which might be controversial. Greenshed (talk) 19:36, 14 July 2019 (UTC)

I don't consider tabloids references, and neither does anyone else, that's why I changed her date of birth back to how it was originally. Besides, in the section titled "Personal life" the same source was used twice separately and not under the same tag. I just shortened the paragraph and removed the extra one. Keivan.fTalk 20:48, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
The Daily Telegraph is not a tabloid. I refer to the following edit: diff. Greenshed (talk) 22:31, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
Seems that I made a mistake by removing the wrong link, which I now fixed, but I intended to remove the other one, as they were both sources about her grandchild and we don't need excessive citations for such a small part of the article. Keivan.fTalk 23:27, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
Ragland is really only notable because of her connections to the British Royal Family. The extent of her interactions with the House of Windsor is therefore of interest within the context of the article. The fact that she travelled out to England for the birth of her grandchild (one of the refs) is about as important as the fact that she attended the christening celebrations (the other ref). These things are notable because they have received coverage in the form of separate articles in a major British broadsheet newspaper. If you accept that both items of information can go in the article then they should both be capable of being backed by citations to reliable sources and, ideally, actually be referenced. I must confess that I don't really see the purpose of your reductive edits to the section in question but presume you don't have a problem with explaining the African-American links to the British Royal Family? Greenshed (talk) 17:33, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
Let's not bring race into this. What I'm trying to model this article after is articles such as Carole Middleton and Frances Shand Kydd. Although her connection to her grandchild is important, it is also necessary to remember that we're not supposed to make the article full of stuff that may be considered trivial. To me, saying that she went to see her grandchild is trivial because that's what any 'normal' grandparent would do. We already have the christening mentioned anyway. Keivan.fTalk 18:02, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
Perhaps, but it's long way from LA to England and it appears that the other grandparent did not make the trip. Personally, I suggest that Doria Ragland's level of involvement is germane; trivia would what clothes she wore, her route, timings etc and some of the other stuff in the Telegraph articles. Perhaps the section needs an introductory sentence about Ragland's post wedding involvement? Greenshed (talk) 18:38, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
You're right. That could be of importance since the child's grandfather was not there. Thus, I think we need to show this by including a sentence which specifically tells the readers that she was the 'only' member of Meghan's family that went from the US to the UK to be present at the christening. Keivan.fTalk 23:28, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

A Song of Ice and Fire AFDs

Hello. Apologies for the random message, but I wanted to ask you a quick question about the A Song of Ice and Fire AFDs that you opened in May 2019. I had only opposed the deletion because I disagreed with grouping a large amount of article in a single AFD. I had recommended doing individual nominations instead. I was curious if you were going to individually nominate any of the articles in the future?

For instance, I think Myrcella Baratheon and Rickon Stark probably do not have enough notability for separate articles. However, I think some of the ones included on the list demonstrate enough notability (like Renly Baratheon for the criticism on the show's representation of LGBT characters and Missandei for the discussion on the show's treatment of characters of color and the character's death and impact) for separate articles. Again, apologies for the random message, but I just was thinking about this randomly today. I hope are having a great weekend! Aoba47 (talk) 22:10, 13 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi. I'm glad you're interested in solving this issue. Actually I won't be nominating any of those articles for deletion again, not because I don't think they should be deleted, but because I don't have enough energy to deal with users who oppose the AFD and then do nothing for improving the articles. If you can improve them, then don't hesitate and please do so, as I don't have any prejudice against keeping the ones that have the potential for remaining. As you said, there are some that need to go, and I will definitely support you if you nominate them for deletion. Wish you the best. Keivan.fTalk 20:52, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
  • Thank you for the response. I have worked on articles about television characters in the past, and I am interested in working on some of these in the future. I will probably wait to do any substantive work on them for a while just because there is a lot of things to balance (i.e. finding sources for books, the television show, etc.) and that takes a lot of time and work to get right. I am going to nominate one of the articles in the near future since I agree there are some that do not have enough coverage for an independent article (at least in my opinion). Aoba47 (talk) 22:26, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
  • Just so you know I have put an AfD up for Myrcella Baratheon. I am only going to do it one at a time. The ones that I plan on nominating in the future are Rickon Stark and Gilly (character) though I will research both beforehand. Aoba47 (talk) 01:57, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
  • I will probably stick out of nominating any further AfDs in the future. If the Myrcella article is kept, I would not mind improving it with the sources provided during the recent AfD. Just wanted to let you know if you were curious. Aoba47 (talk) 17:02, 17 July 2019 (UTC)

I just reviewed the article and made some minor changes. One thing that I want to suggest though is changing the word "Lise" to "High School" in the templates. It's like using the word "Üniversite" instead of "University", which might be confusing for the English readers. Keivan.fTalk 04:12, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
Thanks :) The thing is, Category:High schools in Turkey has lots of articles titled "Lisesi". That's why I couldn't be sure.--Rapsar (talk) 05:12, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

--Kasir talk 11:29, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

1 Keivan.fTalk 14:44, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

--Kasir talk 14:56, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

Keivan.fTalk 15:06, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

Keivan.fTalk 15:30, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

--Kasir talk 15:37, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

Keivan.fTalk 15:39, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi. First I need to know which article you are referring to. Also, don't forget that finding a number of online sources about a person doesn't necessarily indicate notability because the sources need to be reliable as well. Keivan.fTalk 01:11, 24 September 2019 (UTC)

Earthquakes in Turkey

Hi. Recently, I noticed that you were among the users who developed the article about the 2019 Istanbul earthquake on Turkish Wikipedia. Since you are familiar with both of the languages and can contribute in English, I thought it would be a good idea to ask you to create the articles on 2004 Doğubayazıt earthquake and 2019 Istanbul earthquake in English. As far as I know, these are the only two earthquakes from the 21st century that don't have an article on the English Wiki. I have translated articles about Turkish artists to English before, but since you are probably more familiar with stuff about earthquakes I thought you might be the one who can actually translate them to English smoothly. Thanks. Keivan.fTalk 20:32, 28 September 2019 (UTC)

Sure, sound like a good idea. I'll try to translate the article tonight. --Khutuck (talk) 22:27, 28 September 2019 (UTC)
Awesome. Thanks for your quick response. Keivan.fTalk 23:14, 28 September 2019 (UTC)
2019 Istanbul earthquake is ready. Could you please take a look and rephrase the parts that sound too much like a translation? Also, should the title be "İstanbul" or "Istanbul"? Khutuck (talk) 23:33, 28 September 2019 (UTC)
The article looks perfect. Istanbul is the appropriate spelling in English. Keivan.fTalk 23:41, 28 September 2019 (UTC)
You did an amazing job with the article about the 2019 Istanbul earthquake. I was just wondering whether you could do the same for the 2004 Doğubayazıt earthquake or not. The article exists in Turkish but needs to be translated into English. Based on your general knowledge about earthquakes and your familiarity with the Turkish terms, I though it would be more appropriate to ask you for this favor. And of course you can work on it whenever you like, 'cause we are in no rush. Just let me know your answer. Cheers! Keivan.fTalk 16:23, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
Hi Keivan.f, that article is open in my browser for the last 7 days, but didn't have a chance to translate yet :( I'll try to translate today.--Khutuck (talk) 16:26, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
It's fine. As I said, I don't intend to push you to do it right now. Just work on it whenever you can. Once again, thanks for your contributions. Keivan.fTalk 17:06, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
I sometimes need a small push :) Just started the article. --Khutuck (talk) 18:11, 8 October 2019 (UTC)

Request

Hello dear Keivan.f! Can you make an article about movie Panzehir 2014 or İnsan Avcısı 1975 and find poster, I think this film about revenge? Thank you! --178.66.118.129 (talk) 07:54, 13 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi. I'll see what I can do about it. I'm a little bit busy these days, and at the same time, I have been working on a number of different articles. If I find enough time, I may start working on them. Keivan.fTalk 23:47, 13 September 2019 (UTC)

Dear Keivan.f! Can you complete and find poster of The Little Cowboy and Canım Sana Feda? I update in article tr:Cüneyt Arkın filmografisi, you can make in English? Thank you! --178.71.220.150 (talk) 11:27, 18 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi. I uploaded the posters for the two movies that you mentioned above. The article about Arkın's filmography on Turkish Wikipedia does not seem to be well-sourced, thus it wouldn't be a good idea to translate it into English. But, since you are familiar with the subject and his film scores, you might want to work on it yourself. You can either complete the filmography section available on Cüneyt Arkın's article, or create a separate article with sources dedicated to his filmography. Keivan.fTalk 15:01, 18 September 2019 (UTC)
Dear Keivan.f! I completed in Cüneyt Arkin article in filmography section, I can’t remember names of his characters, how many he directed films? Can you upload and complete posters of Turks in Space and Gulyabani? Thank you! --95.55.106.2 (talk) 20:01, 19 September 2019 (UTC)
I uploaded the posters. I wasn't really able to help with Arkin's filmography as I'm not familiar with his career, yet is seems that you did a good job on expanding the section. Keivan.fTalk 01:50, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
Dear Keivan.f! Can you upload posters of movies Davaro and Ömer the Tourist (film) i added Kemal Sunal's roles in Kemal Sunal article, i liked both superstars they are property of the country? Thank you! --95.55.106.2 (talk) 14:22, 22 September 2019 (UTC)

Can you upload posters of movies Çöl Kartalı, Kıskıvrak and Süt Kardeşler, these actors who became stars of 1970s, it’s has the biggest respect and made a great contribution to the cinema. They have a large number of films as main characters more than in Bollywood. I like actions like Cüneyt Arkin, and I like comedy scenes like Kemal Sunal! But can you make article about movie Panzehir, I never seen this movie? Thank you! --95.55.106.2 (talk) 18:08, 22 September 2019 (UTC)

I uploaded the posters for some of the movies that you had mentioned. As with the other request, I'm not sure whether I'm capable of creating an article for it or not because I'm not familiar with the topic and it's really hard to find online reliable sources for such an old movie, unless you have access to printed sources, which in this case I don't, unfortunately. I'll try and see what I can find, but I won't guarantee any creations. Keivan.fTalk 16:28, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

Keivan, I wouldn't feel compelled to do what this Russian IP-hopper requests if I were you. This user edits a lot. Why can't they do their own work? You don't want to get caught up in a situation where you are inadvertently involved in WP:MEATPUPPETRY. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:04, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
Hi. Thank you for bringing this up. I was initially trying to be helpful and helped him with whatever he was doing, but after a while, I also noticed that he has been very active. So, I told him to simply open an account and do whatever he wants himself. I'm already busy in my real life and have a list of articles that I need to work on. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to write me this note. I appreciate it. Keivan.fTalk 20:01, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
Your helpfulness is appreciated, of course. There are some people, however, who abuse editors' good-faith attitude to forward their own agenda. I don't get a great feeling from this Russian IP, who, for years, has been asking editors, many of whom were undisclosed paid editors, for assistance with articles, which just smells fishy. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 22:11, 13 December 2019 (UTC)

Hükümet Kadın 2 moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Hükümet Kadın 2, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. ... discospinster talk 02:26, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
