Your work on Sikhism in China is incredible! Thank you so much for your contributions to Sikhism-related articles on Wikipedia, as you have significantly expanded Wikipedia's coverage on the religion. Reev132 (talk) 22:44, 22 May 2024 (UTC) |
- @Reev132 Thank you so much! I really appreciate the recognition. I plan on expanding that article even further in the near future. You’re doing great work as well! MaplesyrupSushi (talk) 00:27, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
Jasrath Khokhar
Hi MaplesyrupSushi, hope you're doing well. The article on Jasrath Khokhar lacks illustrations of any sort, can you add any, if possible? Thanks. Sutyarashi (talk) 15:35, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Sutyarashi Hey there! I would love to add a depiction of this important figure but I was not able to find any historical depictions of this man. If I come across one, I will add it to his article! MaplesyrupSushi (talk) 00:57, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'd appreciate it. It doesn't necessarily have to be a depiction (which I doubt could be found for him), any illustrations such as map, coin etc. would do. Sutyarashi (talk) 15:28, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
Edit summaries
Hello MaplesyrupSushi and thank you for your contributions. I would however like it if you could leave more informative and meaningful edit summaries. The edit summary you typically use ("Ed.") tells us nothing about what you did; you might instead say "added a citation"; "added a quotation"; "added sourced content about [some topic]"; or something like that. There's more information on this topic at Help:Edit summary. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 22:03, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Diannaa - Hello, thank you for the advice. I will keep it in-mind to leave more detailed edit summaries. Cheers, MaplesyrupSushi (talk) 22:04, 15 June 2024 (UTC)

Help with this Page
Hi, long time no hear. Just was wondering if you could help upload the The Sikh Court offical logo for me for their wikipedia page. Would also appreciate any additional input and edits, I've been trying to improve it. Jattlife121 19:19, 07 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Jattlife121 - Hey Jattlife, hope you've been doing well. For sure! I will upload the logo. Nice work. If I have any improvements to make, I will go ahead and do so. Cheers, MaplesyrupSushi (talk) 18:23, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks man ! Is there a way to reach out outside of this platform as well i.e do we have a community for sikh, punjabi pages ? Jattlife121 (talk) 18:27, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Jattlife121 - Do you have IG? MaplesyrupSushi (talk) 18:28, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
- I'll be in contact "soon"
- Just some ideas for future Sikh Pages - Inder Bassi is an upcoming Sikh based boxer in the UK he's got tones of articles on him online and he holds a UK boxing belt in his division, there's been 11 new Sikh elected MP in UK election (maybe something on Sikhs in Diaspora Politics),
- The key one is: Similar to Anti-Hindu sentiment and Islamophobia that my fellow Hindu and Muslim brothers/sisters have. We really need one for the Sikhs. Topics of 9/11, Ban of Sikhs and Indians buying land in North America in early 1900's, Current Anti Indian sentiment in Canada. Gurdeep Chaggar Death etc.. Jattlife121 (talk) 14:45, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
- Another one as well:
- We need a page on evolution of the Flags in the Sikh faith. Page showing the background and evolution of the Nishan Sahib and the use of different Nishan Sahib for different sikh sects i.e Nihangs. Jattlife121 (talk) 14:49, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Jattlife121 - These are all great ideas. I've tried my best to expand the Nishan Sahib page with details about the history of the Nishan Sahib but I could only find a few reliable sources on the topic and they're all very brief. Hopefully more scholarly work is done in this area in the near future. MaplesyrupSushi (talk) 21:58, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- Sikhs in China - Please can you add a demographics tab similar to how I've done with Sikhism in Italy. I think there's a blurring of the lines between Sikhs in HK vs Sikhs in China so just trying to get accurate number. Jattlife121 (talk) 14:39, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
- Also thanks for response and the great work Jattlife121 (talk) 14:40, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Jattlife121 - Sikhs are not officially recognized by the mainland Chinese gov. so it would be hard to get reliable figures, I already put some estimates for the Sikh pop. in the article. MaplesyrupSushi (talk) 15:23, 13 July 2024 (UTC)

- @Jattlife121 - Hello, thank you for your efforts on creating such an article. I will input to it if I have anything useful to add. MaplesyrupSushi (talk) 23:30, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, although I am not from Canada if anyone is/you know off i.e certain racist incidents or history it will be extremely useful to add to this.
- With the ongoing anti south asian, anti-sikh etc.. sentiment right now in Canada, hopefully this will be extremely useful Jattlife121 (talk) 23:32, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Jattlife121 - I am thinking we can make a section on the increase in Sikh international students in Canada and its relationship with heightened anti-Sikh sentiment. MaplesyrupSushi (talk) 23:34, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- That's a great idea, there are a few articles starting to come about this specifically. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/windsor/south-asian-newcomers-to-canada-say-online-hate-is-taking-a-toll-1.7243057 Jattlife121 (talk) 23:40, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- If you have time, please can you upload the newspaper extract. I believe as its 100+ years old falls into fair use. This image (newspaper extract) will be a great addition to the wiki page.

- Historical Evolution of the Nishan Sahib [edit], I've added a table for the Nishaan Sahib. My knowledge isn't the best on Sikh History as such but please feel free to update any mistakes.
- The Red Sikh Empire Flag ? - I always thought it wasn't categorised as a Nishan Sahib as such. Jattlife121 (talk) 18:56, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Jattlife121 - A lot of these images of "historical" Sikh flags currently on Wikipedia are based entirely on original research or people's imaginations. I highly doubt the historical authenticity of all of them. The only flags we should display are ones that are supported by reliable sources or contemporary depictions, for example the Akal Sena's flag was reconstructed based on a 19th century fresco. A lot of these "historical" Sikh flags were created by random users and uploaded on Wikipedia, their authenticity is highly contestable and we should scrutinize them further. MaplesyrupSushi (talk) 01:22, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help, I will try and make it more presentable.
- Also feel free/add too to look at this current draft. Its far from publishing etc.. lots of new info to be added, sources, wording needs to be done. Ideally a month of more revisions, editing and new info.

- Do you know if i can copy exactly certain paragraphs from other pages from this i.e The intro of Sikhs in Afghanistan stuff is pretty much exactly what I would include here. I've also given reference so not sure whether it just needs to be reworded under wiki policy or i can use that paragraph and its sources. Jattlife121 (talk) 18:19, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Jattlife121 If you’re copying content from another Wikipedia article, you basically mentioned that you took the content from [article name] in your edit summary. Example: “Copied over content from [article name], see that page’s history for attribution.” MaplesyrupSushi (talk) 18:41, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
