Oversight
[edit]Hey there, I believe you recently tried to oversight a page I deleted yesterday (at 15:58, 12 April 2007) possibly as a result of my request on the oversight list. The thing is, I can still see the article (as a deleted article) and I am under the impression that if it had been oversighted I would not be able to. Possibly my understanding of how oversight works in a matter like this is flawed, but I did want to doublecheck. I don't want to list the diff, so bang me an email if I'm being too vague. Cheers (and thanks for your help). Dina 17:28, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
- To clarify, it's really the article title that needs to disappear, the content was just run-of-the-mill vandalism. Cheers. Dina 17:33, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, one of the requests seem to have gotten a little lost at the top of the list ( Pill ← Pill- ). No rush but there doesn't seem to be any issues with it. Just thought I'd let you know as its not obvious it hasn't been done on a cursory glance at the page... WjBscribe 16:30, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Bharat Rakshak
[edit]Hello. I saw you editing a talkpage on my watchlist so I thought you may be able to answer my question. Is [www.bharat-rakshak.com Bharat Rakshak] considered a valid source in military history articles? The problem at hand is that people are against my writing up the information presented by BR on the 1967 Sino-Indian skirmish, which China does not place any emphasis at all and have published very little on. Do you know any other Indian military websites which may contain information on this topic? Regards. Traing 06:52, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit]In regards to this comment, I was wondering how alerting users toward bigoted comments can somehow be "on a similar level" as espousing hatred toward 1/6 of the world's population. Collaboration of the Week
[edit]Hi. I wanted to know the time after which a nominated article for collaboration of the week finally gets selected. The page says that this happens on each Sunday, but the article Religion in India (nominated on April 6 & having most votes) has still not been selected. Is this a mistake? Can anyone select the article? Thanks.--Shahab 08:03, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Hello. I have corrected the map, and created a map locator as well. But, can't get them done in *.svg format. I tried once and uploaded it to the commons, but it showed blanc. May be I can mail the illustrator files to someone who can save and upload the svg files. You can reach me by e-mail, check my user page or consult ragib. Aditya Kabir 16:39, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- What a person! I love this community. Would you reconsider your position on the FAC now? Or, may be I need to wrok some more on the article. Aditya Kabir 16:25, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Help needed. Can you explain the transport thing you propose a bit? Should I add stuff on the public bus services, taxi stands, rickshaw roads and such things? Or would it become a bit trivial? Also, I need a bit more help on the administration and geography things you mentioned earlier. Aditya Kabir 16:52, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Well... I guess, most, if not all, of your issues have been addressed. But, I'm not sure if it is adequate. Please, do check and tell. You remain as the sole gatekeeper of quality at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Shahbag at the checking level. Aditya Kabir 06:33, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Kaziranga National Park images
[edit]Hi Nichalp. I've made edits to three of the images in this article and wondered if you'd mind taking a look and giving me a bit of feedback as to whether they're what you're after. I can have a go at the others here and there when I've got time (snowed under with university work at the moment) and I'd be happy to work with other people at FPC to try and put together a tutorial like you suggested, although I won't have time to dedicate to that until the summer. Happy editing, --YFB ¿ 19:41, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
As mentioned in Wikiproject India newsletter of March 2007, the weekly collaboration of the Indian wikiproject has fallen from its once high feats. This message is to request the users to visit the collaboration page and help rejuvenate it.
The present collaboration of the week is Religion in India. Please go through the talk page of the article to see the proposed changes in the article. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 05:44, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Dear Nichalp,
I know do what I thought about allready nine days ago [2]
I am sorry for the problems I caused you with the move of FA Indian Standard Time. Moving an FA page like I did, was not a good idea. Hopefully I will not be so bad to do that again. From my current point of view, it was a mistake. Sorry.

Attention regarding Geography of India
[edit]While doing a research on Geography of West Bengal, I noticed that the article Geography of India, a FA is in a bad condition, probably it will not meet the WP:GA criteria. The article was featured on June 8, 2005 that is about 2 years back when the Wikipedia was not much organised, so it got FA easily. If any improvement is not done, it will get defeatured within no time. I am pointing out some of the errors in the article:
- Excess importance is given to the highest point in the lead. Remove it and replace by other suitable statement
- Location and extent-eastern, western and northern tip missing, IST must be included, neighbours of India may be incorporated
- Political geography – must be written in a prose form rather than list.
- Geographical regions-
- Mountains
- Image:Indiahills.png and Image:India topo big.jpg must be replaced by svg image,
- remove list of mountains, no mention of upper and middle himalays,
- Indo-Gangetic plain-No mention of Bhabar and Khadar, Terai formation
- Highlands-Highest peak in Deccan plateau missing, Central highlands (Malwa) missing, eastern Meghalaya plateau and Karbi Anglong plateau missing
- East coast-No mention of Northern Circas
- West coast- Kachchh and Kathiawar coast in Gujrat, back waters in Kerela and presence of important ports missing
- Islands-
- Andaman- seperation by 10 degree channel, barren island missing, largest island, no of inhabited island, longitudianal and latitudial extent,
- Lakshwadeep- seperation by 11 degree channel, largest island, longitudianal and latitudial extent all are missing
- Mountains
- Natural disasters-Drought missing
- Natural resources-More data needed
- Missing parts-Soil, Natural vegetation and wildlife
- Overall-Lack of grammar, spellings, WP:MOS and must be writen in prose form.
- To prevent further vandalism- semi-protection policy must be applied to the article
- Inline ciations missing
This was the initial observation. Further comments are expected to improve the quality of the article. Amartyabag TALK2ME 04:56, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Shall I just upload same images to Commons and request deletion here in Wikipedia? Please suggest. Gnanapiti 14:19, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
Please help!
[edit]IP User 81.149.27.200 and 88.109.215.0 (who are clearly same if you look at their edits) have been repeatedly reverting my good faith edits on Khatri, Malhotra and Luthra. He also accuses me of vandalism.
I will let you judge the two versions yourself. Our diff on Khatri, Our diff on Malhotra, Our diff on Luthra. He also does not explain to me where the peacock claims on Luthra are, instead changing the category from a sourced one to an unsourced one. I think his motivation there is simply because I rvert him on Malhotra. He believes my surname is Luthra without any basis at all. Hopefully admins can judge the two versions. dishant 07:42, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
Response to above claim
On the contrary dishant has been Petty stalking my edits and vandalising my and other users entries after his peacock claims about the Luthra family were reverted.
This claim to you appears in retaliation for my being one of four users having supported a Delete case for removal of an entry for an un noteworthy person Ankur Luthra [6] by administrator Xoloz. The article was subsequently removed by Wikipedia.
Dishant55555 vandalism goes back to March after my Correcting his Vanity claims about Luthra. You can see on this link he has made unsourced vanity claims including -
- "Many Luthra's are extremely successful in terms of business."
- "The Gupta Dynasty assumed control of Northern India in 400 CE, and the Luthras joined forces with the Guptas to maintain law and order in what became India's Golden Age."
- Luthras held prominent positions as rulers and warriors.
and adding alleged prominent people with the surname Luthra who do not meet wikipedia guidelines for prominence.
He has since been stalking and vandalising Malhotra, Khatri, Kapoor etc pages by users who have changed his edits to NPOV ones. See his vandalism of the Malhotra page for example where he has removed dozens of lines of entries with authoritative sources such as links to Indian government websites. He has vandalised the Malhotra page again today though I see another user has reverted his edit.
Could dishant please be blocked from doing so. He has already received warnings to stop.
- The IP user is mincing facts. The versions that he brings up are long gone and I no longer condone them. Look at the current versions for which he is reverting me for and then make your own decision. dishant 00:10, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Ref:Jana gana mana- Your views?
[edit]
The following are my personal views:
Now I request you to read this: It included the 'hindi version' and the fact that it was adopted in Hindi. Sources I have cited include and now read the current version. Isn't incomplete? The following are others’ views: user:Ragib (worth having a look at one of his edit summaries-) reverted the edits saying you cannot include the Hindi version info and the adoption in Hindi info no matter which site you cite because the 'original' discussion this doesn't 'include' anything about Hindi version! But as you know after discussions a committee is always formed to act over it and make final amends after discussion. If you go by that argument it doesn’t even include the fact that
As all these rules and regulations are not discussed it is clear that we cannot make the discussion transcripts our Bible. You may even see a link in that same site leading http://india.gov.in/knowindia/national_anthem.php which includes the Hindi lyrics. (as a matter of fact all these sites are maintained by National Informatics Centre (NIC). It is a premier Science and Technology Organisation under the Department of Information Technology of the Government of India actively working for the past three decades in the area of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Applications in the Government Sector. To read more see: Homepage of NIC) and also if you see http://www.whitehouse.gov/national-anthem/newdelhi-full.html which is clearly titled India National Anthem: Jana-Gana-Mana (Thou Art the Ruler of All Minds) Original Hindi Words: Latin Transliteration. Even Manorama Yearbook 2003 Pg.519 which has full lyrics, states the-Jana-gana-mana-adhinayaka, jaya he version.
Even the talkpage of Jana Gana Mana (please read it) has had many futile debates. With allegations by user:Sarvagnya that Hindi is not our National language!!! This is what he has to say
Whereas the article et. sq.343 clearly mentions Hindi as the official language of the Union and the regional languages as official languages of the states. SameerKhan came up with a suggestion:-
Note: The following opinions on the topic of all the 'quoted' users may have significantly changed in the due course of time. Other participants were- deeptrivia, Apandey, Parthi, Tuncrypt, Antorjal, User talk:Bakasuprman, Deepak D'Souza, ppm So, Now should this version(source from whitehouse.gov) be included or not India National Anthem: Jana-Gana-Mana (Thou Art the Ruler of All Minds) Original Hindi Words: Latin Transliteration
