Bullying on the Preity Zinta nomination
[edit]I have to say that this vote appears invalid by Sarvagnya and is done out of spite following a confronation on the article -please see Shahrukh Khan history. It looks very suspicious to me that the above user came across this page after checking the contributions of Shahid following the edit war on that page and visisted the page specifically to give the "strongest oppose possible" -I find this utterly unacceptable. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 12:44, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- If valid, an oppose is an oppose. There is nothing legally wrong in his oppose, so I don't know why you say it's invalid. Using extra adjectives does not make it any more different. Sarvagnya evaluated the page for reliable sources and found it to be full of unreliable citations; for that matter even I had commented on the same. Sarvagnya has been a proponent of reliable sources for a long time, (which is good for wikipedia), so please assume good faith and see the contributions he is making for the betterment of wikipedia. =Nichalp «Talk»= 13:17, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
Doesn't it seem a bit of a cooincidence that he posted his opinion within an hour of an edit war with Shahid on the SRK page? ♦ King of Baldness ♦ "Talk"? 16:35, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- He has every right to oppose regardless of the edit war. Sarvagnya is correct in removing dubious references. =Nichalp «Talk»= 18:03, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
My rename
[edit]Thanks I suppose. But was there a particular reason you did it? I had asked to wait on the rename. I'm not furious or anything, but I wasn't sure this was the name I wanted. Especially now that this was my second rename, and a third probably wont happen. — Soleil (talk) 04:49, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- I think I'll sleep on it, and see if I would rather have one of the other names I was toying with. Thanks. As a side note, I used to not see the fundraising notice at all. But since the rename, I've seen the [dismiss] or [show more] things. Do you know if this has to do with the rename, or if there was some coding thing that changed? — Soleil (talk) 05:58, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Jimmy im Mumbai
[edit]Hi Nichalp. Happy Diwali. Perhaps you may have seen this: Jimmy in IIT, Mumbai. probably you are in Mumbai and may take a lead in organizing, depending on your free time, an exclusive meet-up of Jimmy with Wikipedians. Kind Regards. --Bhadani (talk) 07:47, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
BoxofficeIndia.com
[edit]Hey dear Nichalp! I've removed many unreliable sites from Zinta's page. santabanta, bollyspice, preityzintaonline, blogs, free mexican, etc and placed reliable sources most of which come from TOI or Rediff etc.
I followed your instruction to get an indication to this or another site being reliable and looked for it in reliable sites. And I found it! See please Indiatimes and TOI mentioned it on several occasions, writing "According to boxofficeindia.com..." - [1][2]. I think if it is mentioned in reputable sites which use it as a source for themselves, it is definitealy reliable. What do you say? Regards, Shahid • Talk2me 22:20, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- I guess you are not interested to reply. I may have been a bit rude and stressed when Zinta was a FAC, so I apologize, if I wasn't cool. And it was not promoted, so I think you are calmed now. If you see that, please reply to my message (above). My best regards, Shahid • Talk2me 22:36, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
Reference
[edit]Hi Nichalp, I’m a student at the University of Regina, Canada. I'm writing a paper on urban development, and civil engineering. I was wondering if you could reference you pictures of the original 7 islands of Mumbai, and the current Mumbai. It would be much appreciated. Also do you know any good links, or article relating to this subject. In particular flooding in this area. Thanks Tyler. Tjdekoko 18:44, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- The picture of the seven islands was taken from this book: Our Greater Bombay (1990) — Maharashtra State Bureau of Textbook Production and Curriculum Research
- The latest SVG maps have been traced from Google Earth. The older maps were traced from a scanned hi res map.
- What sort of flooding information are you looking for?

Taking some photograhs of IN ships
[edit]On Nov 13 (10 A.M to 3 P.M) the IN ships will be docked in Kolkata for public view.[3] If you have any friends in Kolkata try to get some pictures of these ships to be used in Wikipedia. Chanakyathegreat 06:28, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
WikiMedia India chapter
[edit]I read about the move to start a local chapter of WikiMedia. I am curious... what would be my responsibilities once I became a member? What's the use of this chapter anyway? The Silent Contributor 16:11, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
Some reliability issues
[edit]Hi Nichalp. It seems ibosnetwork.com is an RS (see the explanations here. But I could not generate data supporting the RS-ness of boxofficeindia.com. If these two sites, or at least one, can be proved RS, it will be very helpful for all Indian cinema related articles. What do you think?--Dwaipayan (talk) 21:11, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Also I would like to note, that boxofficeindaia.com is a source of information for newspapers like Times of India, which apparently makes it a RS. Shahid • Talk2me 21:22, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Trivial mentions do not constitute reliability. boxofficeindia isnt reuters. Or even a rediff. To see the difference search for "boxofficeindia", "reuters" and "rediff" on reliable sources using search string like <"reuters" site:hindu.com> on google. Also, facts and figures are exceptional claims and exceptional claims need exceptional sources and as many sources as possible to corroborate the claims. boxofficeindia, whatever it may be is certainly not an 'exceptional' source. Sarvagnya 21:43, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- I am repeating, if reputable sources use it as source of information - I can't see why Wikipedia can't. Shahid • Talk2me 00:48, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
Wikipedia is just so unreliable don't you think? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 15:11, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Bot
[edit]There's a bot waiting for a flag at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/Approved if you have a moment. Cheers, WjBscribe 04:08, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
I have had a tough time in dealing with this fellow. Look at the history of Delhi and New Delhi. He is very keen on adding his images to the concerned articles irrespective of whether they are of good quality or not. He is more concerned about boasting about the number of images he has added to articles in his userpage rather than making a sincere effort to improve articles. He then reverts an edit made by me on Gurgaon article as an act of revenge. It is becoming increasingly difficult to deal with this fellow. Need your advise. --Lokantha 21:35, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
Hey!
[edit]Hey Nichalp. How are you doing? I know this request is about an year late, but could you take a look at Satellite Instructional Television Experiment? Do you think it is ready for an FAC? I have tried to include only as much information as needed because the UN report I have is overloaded with info. (complete programming schedule, all feedback forms used in the experiment, etc) - Aksi_great (talk) 18:03, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Featured List of the Day Experiment
[edit]I am contacting individuals in the order of the number of featured lists that they had created by Novemeber 10, 2007. You have created several. So you are among the first. There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 17:05, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Semi or Full Protection for atleast 2 weeks for Om Shanti Om
[edit]Semi or Full Protection for atleast 2 weeks for Om Shanti Om. If u kindly go through the history u will see a constant edit war going between some editors including me. I think it is best to provide full protection to the page for atleast two weeks or semi protection (it will not help). Pls. do the needful. Amartyabag TALK2ME 05:44, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
SITE
[edit]Thanks. I will take another look at the article now. - Aksi_great (talk) 07:08, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
no reason to protect Om Shanti Om
[edit]sir i still think there is no reason to fully block the Om Shanti Om page ... the articles upped are showing the citations as needed , i only had a small problem with the images , since i am a noob . but i removed them now.
i request you to open the page for editing :)
thank you eatpepsi @ Wiki Project ! (talk) 06:38, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
Om Shanti Om (film)
[edit]FYI... you protected Om Shanti Om (film) with this in the article. I would suggest talking to another admin and asking them to remove it. This makes Wikipedia look really bad. —Viriditas | Talk 13:35, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'll just take this to ANI for a faster response. —Viriditas | Talk 13:42, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

- well now its better , i really think we need to fix more of the article eatpepsi @ Wiki Project ! (talk) 20:34, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Its unstable even on the talk page. =Nichalp «Talk»= 19:11, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
Personally, I feel that full page protection for a recently released film is totally unprecedented. The article needs to be edited and the editors who have violated the rules need to be blocked. I would like to ask you to reconsider PP before I escalate this, however, I support SP. Thank you. —Viriditas | Talk 03:36, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Hi Nichalp, there is currently a peer review of the Osho article going on which you reviewed a while back; please have a look in when you've got a mo. Cheers, -- Jayen466 00:03, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Request for protection
[edit]An editor which has used several sockpuppets (User:Bone18 and User:Billy660 and User:Billybob690), and uses multiple ips of 86.156.211. series is constantly adding anti-India, biased, unsourced material to Indophobia, Anti-Pakistani sentiment, Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. I am tired of constantly reverting his/her edits. Need advise. --Lokantha (talk) 17:55, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Hi there! This may be a blast from the past, but you created this article almost two years ago. It's currently up for AfD. We've struggled to find the binomial in any reliable sources. Do you happen to know what the common name refers to? Any input would be appreciated! Cheers, Rkitko (talk) 06:13, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
Request your opinion
[edit]Hi Nichalp, we are discussing a possible way to promote wikipedia culture in Bangladesh by arranging a student competition at: Wikipedia:WikiProject Bangladesh/Outreach. [edit]Nichalp: I have taken the liberty to invite you in the advisory committee of the competition that we discussed. I have done this in the new page that I have created to discuss this competition. Could you please take a look and express your opinion there. Arman (Talk) 05:53, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
User:IAF
[edit]Hello sir
Perhaps you can help. Your user name signs one of the most recent paragraphs on the talk page of User:IAF. This user is behaving in a very disruptive manner with respect to the article dharma. I have requested assistance from an available administrator but have yet had no response. Can you offer any suggestions? Many thanks Langdell (talk) 21:16, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
LOTD experiment
[edit]My userpage List of the Day experiment is getting under way at WP:LOTD. One of your lists has been nominated. I invite you to come by and represent it. If you would like to represent your list article please reformat your username in the table so it is normal sized. Among the things you may want to do to represent your list are:
- Change the image selection
- Add talk page projects to the list and then add them on the summary table
- Write a summary of the article in less than 500 characters. I will begin doing this later today for those who don't do it themselves.
- Participate in the feed back process when it starts on December 1.
- Participate in the voting when it starts on December 11.
You are free to remain uninvolved. Your list was chosen for being among the first [[WP:FL]s ever created.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 19:03, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Your maps in the India#Geography section
[edit]Hi Nichalp, Last week I added two maps (hills and rivers) of India to the India#Geography section replacing the previous illustrations (a super high-res topographical map and a "Ganges" image added by Nikkul). The reason was simple: they perfectly complemented the text (and I wished I had found them earlier). Well, today, after a new user, Vital brick 1 (talk · contribs), suggested that the high-res map had some useful information too, I wondered if there was some way of reintroducing it, but with the rivers labeled as in your rivers map. That map (or perhaps a reduced version of it) could then replace your rivers map. What do you suggest? (Please read Talk:India#Geography section.) Fowler&fowler«Talk» 13:18, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
