Congratulations
You are now an admin, after an impressive showing in your nomination. I would recommend being conservative in your use of the tools, especially so at first. Also re-read the relevant policy before acting, particularly if you're not sure. Post anything likely to be controversial on the administrators noticeboard before doing it if possible. Other than that, congratulations again, dive in and have fun using your shiny new tools to help this place out. - Taxman Talk 00:14, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- Same here! Glad there's another hard working admin around! :)

.380 ACP Reversions
Please note, I am not the first to revert. His initial reversion of somebody else's edits was the catalyst for this. If the rule is 3 reversions in one day, his initial reversion should count and I should not ever have to meet the three reversion rule without him first reaching it. Yes, it's rediculous, neither of us is compromising, both of us think we are right and therefore neither of our edits should stick nor should the edits of the shill editors he keeps recruiting from his video game editors. This is how I read it, am I wrong?--Asams10 23:53, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- Compromise? I would like an impartial administrator who regularly edits or deals with firearms or military related articles to moderate this. It would appear, from the "If you're not busy" subsection above, that you were recruited by the other party. It is my suspicion that he hand-picked you because he felt that you would be sympathetic to his cause just as he hand-picked several other users to comment on the subject. Could you find another admin who wasn't hand-picked to step in? I could have easilly recruited User:Squalla, for instance, to help me out, but I chose to go it alone. I haven't seen an admin who regularly edits firearms or military articles.--Asams10 00:04, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
- You're off to a great start by calling me a "shill editor." I'd never heard of him until I happened upon the article. I've had no interaction with him (or you, for that matter) before what's found on this article. He may have asked me to come look at the article, but I certainly wouldn't have taken a stance on that talk page that I didn't believe was correct and NPOV. An admin doesn't need to regularly edit firearms or military articles in order to see whether or not something is NPOV or not. You've consistently attacked him for his stance on the article, and your slinging of epithets isn't helping anyone feel sympathetic to your cause. I'm perfectly capable of looking at this in a neutral fashion, so please be civil.
- Now, I'm not saying that GameJunkieJim is completely perfect in how he's handled himself in this situation. In fact, I think if we weighed everything he's handled wrong in this situation with everything you've handled wrong, we'd have a pretty balanced pile of poor judgements on both sides. What I suggest is stepping back and cooling off for a bit. You're obviously very passionate about your views, and so is GameJunkieJim. That can work to your benefit, and also to your detriment. At the moment, it's working toward the latter. If you can take a step back, maybe take a day or two away from this particular article (and any others on which you two may be interacting), it may help to let the tempers go down so that everyone can interact more calmly.
- There are already at least two admins looking at this case (myself and Миборовский), and it looks like Friday may have come up with a good compromise. I suggest you look at it and then think about it for a few days. Keep in mind the main objection that most people seem to be having, and whether or not this compromise will work well enough for you. I think it's a reasonable compromise, and allows for your views (that it's designed for people who can't or don't want to handle large recoil—a group which includes many women, even without pointing that out specifically) as well as allowing for the sensitivities of others who think the previous wording singled out all women unnecessarily. Thank you in advance for handling this in a more diplomatic fashion. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 00:33, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
I stepped back about three days ago and I was just told not to edit it anymore. The best I can do is shake my head and grumble anymore.--Asams10 06:46, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
Onsen article
Just before you put up a "not formal tone" on the Onsen article, I went thru and revised the article, because I also thought it was not formal enough. I took out a number of things and streamlined others to give it a more formal tone. Did you review these recent (today) changes before adding the window? Thanks. Malnova 12:00, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, rearranged the order a little bit and split the into 3 sections. Have a look when you have time. Thanks. Malnova 15:02, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
Why did you take out the list of shows from this article? It was from the artist's website. They are the only claim to notability, apart from editing one book. If there is nothing else to add for this person, it will go to AfD because he's not notable, which is a shame because the paintings have some quality. If you can establish his notability, please do so. It also needs some verifiable references. Tyrenius 00:43, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, it must have happened when I was rewriting the article into English. I think the original "English" text was machine translated. I've added them back again. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 17:53, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
- Do you know anything about this artist/author or have any more info? It seems to be notability is slight and it is a possibility for deletion. What do you think? Tyrenius 17:57, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
Milestones
Hey Nihonjoe, thanks for using my milestone tool! I'm glad someone found it useful. However, as you might already have realized from the message on the tool page, the toolserver is currently suffering from corruption of data from the English Wikipedia, and some milestones returned might be wrong. (They certainly are for me) I hear that the toolserver admins are working to correct this problem, but you might like to wait until it's fixed. Cheers, Tangotango 05:36, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
Japanophile
I would just like to point out that a large portion of the japanophile community is bisexual. It may not be the case for you or some people you know, but i find it discriminatory that you ignore the existance of this substantial majority, and refuse to give it mention, and my stated figure of there being 3 bisexuals in 5 japanophhiles is correct. my source was Neo magazine in the march 2006 issue. Please do not change facts just because they do not apply to you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.69.109.3 (talk • contribs) .
- I'm not ignoring anything. I only removed that information because there is absolutely no proof anywhere to back it up. I find it extremely difficult to believe that 3 out of 5 Japanophiles is bisexual. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 03:55, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not convinced that you have looked this up, as i have. I myself am part of a community of Japanophiles. We meet up regularly, and there are currently 15 members of the group (11 of which are Bisexual). This is in the Thames Valley in the UK, where there are not many Japanophiles at all. I think that you should put some reference to this in your article, although it will ultimately be your choice, as you created the article, however i do see it verging on descrimination, that you do not want to give this a mention, as you seem so adamant about not wanting this statement in this article, that you obviously do not want to be associated with bisexuals yourself. Please create some mention for us, as we would be very appreciative. Thank you —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.69.109.3 (talk • contribs) .
- I just did a google search of "homosexual Japanophile" and I found 0 relevant hits, out of 150 or so (minus repetitions). Whatever your Neo magazine says, it's wrong, because no relevant source acknowledges the fact, and that's good enough proof for Wikipedia. Then there's the fact that common sense dictates that your figures are highly exaggerated in the first place. freshgavinΓΛĿЌ 13:30, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- Using the "You don't mention us, so you're discriminating" argument isn't going to fly here. Neither is the "You don't want to mention us, so you obviously don't like us" argument. It's really pathetic that you see the need to wave the discrimination flag around just because you aren't getting your way. You really ought to think more highly of yourself rather than assuming that everyone is against you. As Freshgavin wrote above, there is absolutely no evidence (other than your personal experience in one tiny group of Japanophiles) to support your claim. If you can find support showing that such a large percentage of us are bisexual, we'll be happy to add it in, but until then, it's not being added. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 15:39, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- I think this is a case of orriginal research... --Cat out 16:48, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Like I said, it's your article, and i'm not going to change it. I'm sorry if my last post came across at all hostile, as this is the feedback i have been getting. In any case it was not meant to be that way. I was just giving a suggestion, for a figure I myself have experienced and recently found backed up which I found very interesting. I agree that my comment about it being discrimination was a bit extreme and I take that back. I don't know if it may be a culture difference, or region based difference as i am from the Oxfordshire in the UK. Neo is a UK based magazine about japanese pop-culture, often giving reviews on DVDs, Japanese Music and new Japanese Technology. Also if you have found nothing else on the internet it is possible that the study was faulse. I thought it would be possible because of mine and my friends' situations. Thank you for taking care to looking into and genuinly making sure my claim was not real, as a dismissal of information without looking it up would be very unfair. I will see if I can find any more support and let you know.
(p.s its hard not to be paranoid as a massive number of heterosexuals (espeacially geeks, which i consider myself one of) and homosexuals, look down on bisexuals for being undecided, promiscuous, etc.) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.69.109.3 (talk • contribs) .
- Japanophile is no more my article than it is any other editor's article. I'm just one of many who have contributed to it. If you can find any supporting information, please post it on the Talk:Japanophile page and we can discuss it. For things like this (which make sweeping generalizations), it's best to discuss it first and find a consensus among interested editors before changing the article itself. Also, if you are serious about helping out on Wikipedia, I recommend creating an account. While anonymous edits are allowed, you're likely to be taken more seriously if you take a couple minutes to create an account. When you create an account, you also gain many benefits (like a watchlist) that make your job easier here. (^_^) ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 18:28, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Featured lists and Kanji issues
- Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of Fullmetal Alchemist episodes
- Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of Planetes episodes
The featured list candidates seem to have an issue with the kanji characters. I believe this may be a codec issue. Since I have japanese fonts installed and observe no problems and that I have no understanding of kanji I though you might want to assist.
BTW congradulations in becomeing an admin, I would give my support but it appears you dont really need it ^_^;

- I popped in on both. Everything appears to be fine as far as the kanji encoding. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 18:41, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Ejected from CVU?
How can you be ejected from an organization that has no leadership? That's not really an organization, but rather a grouping of anti-vandal individuals? No one can "eject" you from CVU if you still want to associate yourself with them. The only person who can eject you is yourself. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 22:24, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- My access in the chanel was gradualy reduced... ultimately I was banned from all of the IRC channels related to the CVU. This is a perm ban. #wikipedia-en-vandalism channel has been rendered useless making my vandal detection bot useless. All actions were taken by the same individual.
- So I cannot preform any of the functions I used to be able to as a CVU member. Hence am "ejected". Things are going quite nasty for me on many fronts.
- Since you are an administrator now you might want to review evidence presented related to User:Moby Dick on WP:ANB/I. Though since you are a new admin you probably shouldn't take action but your comments would be most apriciated.

New Survey
Hi, Nihonjoe
Can I ask you to do this for me, since I know you're good at this?....
Somebody started a new survey in Talk:Liancourt Rocks and Talk:Senkaku Islands to change the article name. However, there are old survey results in the same talk page, and could be confusing. Can you please archive the old survey results so that people won't be confused? Thanks.--Endroit 06:32, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
