[edit]Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. ElKevbo (talk) 18:14, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
- I just got through deleting your spam, and I see someone beat me to giving you notice. I'll explain more fully what's going on. The clothing company you kept linking to provides no information to our readers, and it is considered promotional spam. Having a brief history of the Mason-Dixon Line on their website is nice of them, but it tells our readers nothing they can't find already in WP. Worse, it was of zero relevance to the photographs where you added the link, and it was of zero relevance to the Pynchon novel. And if there were some significant detail over there we've missed, they are not a Reliable Source for this material anyway, so there's no point.
- Sorry your introduction to WP has turned into a downer. Feel free to ask questions if you're not sure how you can contribute. Choor monster (talk) 18:26, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
Your company
[edit]Your self-promotion on your User page seems to be a bit much according to WP:UP. See section "A small and proportionate amount of suitable unrelated material" as to what is allowed. Links to your personal webpage (without promotional language) are allowed. Links to your company along with your asperations for it is too much.
