DYK for 1928 Liechtenstein embezzlement scandal

On 29 February 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 1928 Liechtenstein embezzlement scandal, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the 1928 Liechtenstein embezzlement scandal cost 1.8 million Swiss francs, the equivalent of two yearly state budgets? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/1928 Liechtenstein embezzlement scandal. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, 1928 Liechtenstein embezzlement scandal), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

PMC(talk) 00:03, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

Did you mean 'complicit'?
"The Christian-Social People's Party accused government councillor Peter Büchel of being complicate in the scandal,..."
Also,
"The Christian-Social People's Party had reported that they had felt treated unfairly by Johann II, and the party remained alienated from him for the rest of his reign, which continued under his successor Franz I and the successor party Patriotic Union."
reads quite strangely. I think you mean the alienation continued, perhaps something like
"The Christian-Social People's Party had reported that they had felt treated unfairly by Johann II, and the party remained alienated from him for the rest of his reign, with the alienation continuing between his successor Franz I and the CSP's successor party Patriotic Union."

Sources and references in the article 'The School (TV series)'

Hi! You've checked my article and declined it due to "lot of unsourced statements". I've added more than 20 sources. However, actually, I'd intended more, but, unfortunately, a lot of them were unavailable now for some tech issues. Besides, I translated this article from the already existing one, but I just couldn't add a reference to the main article. I tried to add it through the code, but this article is highlighted as red instead of blue, even though it truly exists(( May you help me with this? I'd be so pleased <P Katrynaaaz (talk) 16:52, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

I can take another look later today, no problem. TheBritinator (talk) 17:02, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

Decline of Draft:Mark_Prihodko

Hello, @TheBritinator. Recently, you've declined Draft:Mark Prihodko, stating that improvements are „marginal“. Previously it was declined by another editor; but I fixed everything he noted, gained his approval and resubmitted. Descriptive NPOV is harder to achieve, especially when I'm literally citing reliable sources. It would be more effective if you can specify problematic sentences for me to fix.

Side-note — I totally agree with a reply, posted to you a month ago by TechnoSquirrel69: «All we care about during the review is determining the subject's notability, making sure all of the core policies are met, and cleaning up any egregious formatting errors.» WP:NMUSIC is perfectly matched for at least 4 points of that list and the «Other» list. Everything else is OK as well to my eye. If anything fails with NPOV for now — can we comment out particular phrases and publish the article, assuming later improvements?

Thanks. Tacit Murky (talk) 21:30, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

I rejected it because it still included promotional segments such as the unsupportive quoting and questionable sourcing (i.e. YouTube links). I have no clue why you are randomly bringing up a comment archived from my talk page over a month ago? I can take a look again if you make changes but at the moment it doesn't look like it. TheBritinator (talk) 01:41, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
All right, less quoting and no more YT links now. And I can't see — how «unsupportive» quoting can be, if taken from a reliable source to back up neutral claims in the article (of positive responses to artist's performances). Must be better now, anyway. Can you take another look? Tacit Murky (talk) 13:31, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
You must resubmit the article if you want it to be reviewed. TheBritinator (talk) 18:15, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

The article November 1918 Liechtenstein putsch you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:November 1918 Liechtenstein putsch for reasons why the nomination failed. Dano-Mughal Treaty

Hello! Concerning your comment on the Draft:Dano-Mughal Treaty

I Think it’s good to have a seperate article on the outcome of the war. This is also the case for most wars on Wikipedia.

If you Think the article needs to differ more from Dano-Mughal War#Peace or just lacks more content, i can do that.

Best regards Tinkaer1991v2 (talk) 19:17, 18 March 2024 (UTC)

I just think it would serve better as a expansion of the main article of the war given that it is only two paragraphs. Not gonna decline it on that basis or anything. TheBritinator (talk) 19:19, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
What if i expand it? There is probably alot more on the outcome of the war, that Can be added, which could fit the article Tinkaer1991v2 (talk) 19:28, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
That could work. TheBritinator (talk) 19:58, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
I have expanded the article now, let me know what you think Tinkaer1991 (talk) 15:29, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
I'll take a look. TheBritinator (talk) 16:03, 22 March 2024 (UTC)

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024

Hello TheBritinator,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

A tag has been placed on Marie Danielle Selvon requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Nope, I've already approved it. The hook tweak was only a suggestion but nice to see that you have done it. We just have to wait for someone to promote it now so it can be put on DYK.TheBritinator (talk) 16:36, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

Joe Aitken

Hi TheBritinator, Joe Aitken's family have requested that details of his health and death are not included on his wikipedia page. He passed away only days ago, and this issue has caused a lot of upset for a grieving family. We appreciate that you have tried to include accurate details, however we feel it would be best that you focus on his singing career. With thanks. 140.159.2.225 (talk) 09:39, 7 April 2024 (UTC)

Alright, I will omit any details about his health for this reason. Apologies for the misunderstanding. However, please understand that through second-party sources, i.e. news, it creates notability. I COULD remove the date of his death, but it's included in the news source(s) reporting it and his obituary, so another editor will just add it back shortly enough if it's not me.
Basically I'm personally fine with omitting details about his death, but I can't really go as far as make when he did ambiguous since it's well sourced. I hope you understand. TheBritinator (talk) 11:47, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
