Copy of Mr.anjaan’s deleted userpage,

{{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow}} Hi, Mr.anjaan is one of my mentees, he asked me why his Wikipedia page doesn’t show on google and I can answer it but in order to advise him against creating a page that will get it either G11 or U5 tagged I need to know what was on the page to figure out whether to say, don’t write about yourself or don’t write about your company, etc. Thanks, Zippybonzo (talk) 17:49, 8 March 2022 (UTC)

Ask for assistance in improving page on non-english LTA

{{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow}} Hey TNT! Someone on the Teahouse recently asked a question pertaining to an LTA who is mainly on Japanese Wikipedia but is also on enWiki. The issue is, their enWiki page isn't all that good (written by an IP who admitted their english isn't very good). I noticed that the admin on jaWiki who blocked the most recent scok of the LTA is also here on enWiki (although they can only communicate in simple english). I'd like to ask them to assist me in improving the LTA page so that it's at least somewhat helpful, however I also don't want to violate WP:DENY or send them an email. What do you suggest I do in this case? ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:01, 9 March 2022 (UTC)

@Blaze Wolf: Hmm.. WP:LTA has been a point of contention for quite some time.. we should log these behaviours so we can easily spot them, but we should also be careful to not encourage LTAs to "get their name in the book". If you go ahead with it, please do try to pay attention to the "Cautionary notes" -- TNT (talk • she/her) 21:54, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
Are you referring to the "cautionary notes" on the specific LTA's page? Cause if so I'm fairly sure that's only on this specific LTA's LTA page on jaWiki. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 21:56, 9 March 2022 (UTC)

Oversight request

{{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow}} Hey TNT! (Redacted)Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 02:07, 11 March 2022 (UTC)

Hey Blaze Wolf, I set up my edit notice so that when people leave me a message, they see:
Please do not post requests for oversight here - use requests for oversight instead.
It's really important we take extra care when dealing with people's private information 🙂 -- TNT (talk • she/her) 03:33, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
Blaze Wolf, unfortunately TNT is probably asleep, so you get to hear this from me instead of from the gentle and understanding admin. You have made a complete and utter mess of things:
  • Posting publicly about a suppression request on an oversighter's talk page (watched by 275 people) and providing enough context that it is obvious both who you are talking about and what they did that needs suppression (please take a moment to read about the Streisand effect).
  • Removing private information with edit summaries that draw attention to the fact that said content contains private information.
  • Using edit summaries that directly mention the sort of personally identifiable information that you are removing.
  • Continuing to discuss the fact of this private information after it was suppressed.
All of this made the oversight team's job harder, not easier. And no, I am not an oversighter, but I had to grab one to get things cleaned up quickly after you drew extra attention to the situation. I cannot make this any clearer: you, of all people, have no business doing anything around private information. Next time you see this kind of thing, email in an oversight request, then do nothing else. Do not remove it. Do not offer "helpful" advice to the editor. Do not post on an oversighter's talk page about your request. Just stop. Somebody who understands how to handle this situation will take it from there. Editor deadnaming

{{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow}} Hello,

I want to bring to your attention an IP that is engaging in misgendering/deadnaming mischief regarding Lia Thomas through a redirect. I don’t know if I have the power to warn or discipline but this edit seems to have escaped others’ eyes. Granted the IP has made only one edit but it’s pretty bad.

Diff https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Will_Thomas&diff=1077731775&oldid=933249798 (I have reverted the change since; I don’t think deadnames are appropriate redirects except in some cases, I think, unless I am mistaken here)

Thank you, -TenorTwelve (talk) 01:41, 21 March 2022 (UTC)

Teyora - Development first look!

Hi! I'm Ed6767, the original creator of RedWarn, now one of the most popular tools on the English Wikipedia that's been used by over 1,000 Wikimedians to make over 300,000 edits since mid-2020 that's been praised for its user friendliness and ease of use, but criticised for its limited functionality. I'm leaving this message as I think it may be of interest here - I left the RedWarn project in November to develop Teyora, my successor to RedWarn (alongside Chlod's UltraViolet). It's a new in development web app that uses some of the latest web technologies to create a highly extendable all in one editing tool with a focus on administration, counter vandalism and general patrolling - not to mention, it'll work on every Wikimedia project without any prior configuration and can be used by any user with at least auto-confirmed rights*. Now, I'm ready to give the Wikimedia community a first look at what I've been doing over the past six months and what to expect going forward.

You can check out the 20 minute first look at the in development version on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzlpnzXdLP4.

There's lots more to expect too! Why not read the full details page at meta:Teyora and leave any feedback, comments or wishes at meta:Talk:Teyora (please leave any correspondence there to keep discussion centralised). If you're interested, you can leave your signature

*with basic features, advanced features require configuration. To prevent abuse, auto-confirmed users will be in a restricted mode until approved by an admin or via rollback rights.

All the best, ✨ Ed talk!23:00, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

Tag for Ultraviolet

Hi, @TheresNoTime! Thank you for creating MediaWiki:Tag-Ultraviolet. I noticed that it contains the acronym for UV instead of its full name. I understand that we did have a discussion on WT:RW a while back regarding the name "RedWarn" being BITEy for new users, but I don't find anything about the new name problematic (namely we don't have "warn" in the name anymore). Would it be alright if it were changed to include the full name? In addition, can the redirect also by bypassed to avoid someone from retargeting the link? Chlod (say hi!) 06:46, 16 April 2022 (UTC)

@Scorpions13256: Hey — I have a very relaxed policy towards self-requested blocks (so relaxed that I don't list anything anywhere), but I do shy away from the idea of doing a self-requested block on someone with whom I have had a previous disagreement, even if things are okay now. Doesn't "feel right" to do that 🙂 I'd suggest reaching out to someone on this list (perhaps Ferret?) — TNT (talk • she/her) 07:37, 13 May 2022 (UTC)

Yes. I removed it from Ferret's talk page because Beeblebrox already responded to me. I removed it from TNT's talk page due to the awkwardness and the lack of response. None of it was due to actual reluctance. Yes, I do want to be blocked. Scorpions13256 (talk) 15:22, 13 May 2022 (UTC)

I was looking at the source code for linkThings trying to figure out how existing scripts modify VE, and noticed it suffers from an issue I'd had in my own script: when the script is loaded, it checks whether the user is editing, and does nothing otherwise. But opening the 2017 editor doesn't navigate, unlike opening the old editor, so the script has already executed and decided not to do anything at that point. The user has to either directly navigate to a ?action=edit URL or reload the page for linkThings to load correctly.
My recommended fix would be to just remove that check altogether – the mw.hooks will never be fired when the user isn't editing, anyway. Rummskartoffel 18:58, 17 May 2022 (UTC)

A well earned barnstar

The Technical Barnstar
For getting WP:REFILL running again a couple of days back, and the work you're currently quietly doing with the code. The way you spot something that needs doing and just crack on with it with no fuss seems to me the epitome of what being a Wikipedian is about. Thank you!

New editors were more successful with this new tool.

The New topic tool helps editors create new ==Sections== on discussion pages. New editors are more successful with this new tool. You can read the report. Soon, the Editing team will offer this to all editors at most WMF-hosted wikis. You can join the discussion about this tool for the English Wikipedia is at Wikipedia:Village pump (proposals)#Enabling the New Topic Tool by default. You will be able to turn it off in the tool or at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-editing-discussion.

The Editing team plans to change the appearance of talk pages. These are separate from the changes made by the mw:Desktop improvements project and will appear in both Vector 2010 and Vector 2022. The goal is to add some information and make discussions look visibly different from encyclopedia articles. You can see some ideas at Wikipedia talk:Talk pages project#Prototype Ready for Feedback.

thank you so much....

Dear TheresNoTime (and I agree :))

I just wanted to say thank you so much for playing fair - I made my first edit 6 months ago but was stunned by the experience and so I left a message and then left wikipedia and did not come back till today!

If I ever write anything inappropriate or incorrect I will be very happy for someone like you to make a judgment and correct me - I fully expect to be held by the same standard as others and I believe with editors like you I will be.

Thank you again for sticking up for me - I honestly felt bullied and just thought I would leave rather than face the stress.

Keep it up..

Kind regards

Having two TPW-ing admins edit conflict over fulfilling it

Hey TNT, hope you are well. I was wondering if it would be possible if you revision delete every edit on my user page up to this one, and to remove the edit summary of the first edit please? The reason is because I feel that I have revealed too much personal info which I have now decided I want to keep to myself. If you could help it would be muchly appreciated. Thank you Blanchey (talk) 15:21, 7 June 2022 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) @Blanchey As it's your own userpage, you can also tag it for deletion, or request that here, and I'll be happy to do it if Sammy isn't around. -- ferret (talk) 15:29, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
@Ferret: that would be perfect, thanks! Blanchey (talk) 15:33, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) @Blanchey I deleted your userpage for you, that's the cleanest way on these - feel free to recreate it. — xaosflux Talk 15:35, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
(edit conflict)Xaosflux beat me to it. -- ferret (talk) 15:35, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: thank you so much, you are all amazing 😊 Blanchey (talk) 15:38, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: since you are also an Oversighter, would it be possible for you to remove the (automatic) edit summary from this log please? Blanchey (talk) 15:41, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
@Blanchey it's borderline, but I did it. Please don't make a habit of that. — xaosflux Talk 15:44, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: thanks, and don’t worry I won’t be putting it again. Blanchey (talk) 15:46, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
(talk page watcher) I have corrected the indentation of this conversation to make it more readable (and more accessible for people who use screen readers). @Blanchey: please have a look at Wikipedia:Indentation. Thanks! --Blablubbs (talk) 16:00, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
@Blablubbs: hi, sorry about that! I am aware of this and when I am using desktop browser, it does it automatically although on mobile it doesn’t sadly. I did it manually when posting my response. Blanchey (talk) 16:11, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
No worries. For what it's worth, DiscussionTools (which should be either enabled by default or available in the beta preferences, I'm not entirely sure), should automatically take care of the indentation as well. --Blablubbs (talk) 16:15, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
