You are now a Reviewer
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:53, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Collaborative news on quippd
[edit]Hey, I noticed that you had recently edited the Pakistan Floods article, and I hoped that you could help out on another collaborative community edited project.
I run quippd, a collaboratively edited social news site, which mixes elements of Wikis, social networking, and social news sites. You can get some more information about what we are doing at: http://quippd.com/about/intro
Basically, we want to get good coverage on news stories, collaboratively edited, like Wikipedia. We are trying to take the ideas of WikiFactCheck -- to make news less biased and speedier (unlike something like Wikinews).
I hope you check us out -- and feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.

The article Barack Obama's visit to India has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- This needs to be on Barack Obama's article, if anywhere.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Endofskull (talk) 01:55, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

World's oldest democracy
[edit]The US is the world's oldest democracy by its own measure of democracy but, by that definition, the US is about the world's only democracy. By the definition everyone else uses, the US wouldn't even be in contention. I hate to say it 'cos I like the guy, but just 'cos Obama says it don't make it so! ;) Btw, just for the record, the AfD is nothing personal. I didn't even realise you were the author until after I made my first comment. All the best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:22, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
- HJ no problems. Indians think democracy existed in Indian villages during Vedic times !!! may I gently remind you that on wp we are interested in verifiability not Truth. everybody and their brother has an opinion on the truth especially on what constitutes true democracy. It is a verifiable fact that Obama said that US is the oldest democracy in front of the Indian Parliament. and that POTUS believes in that does lend it some degree of Notability ( however dubious its accuracy). Cheers.--Wikireader41 (talk) 01:45, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- I'm curious. What about Ancient Athens? Technically (by definition of democracy according to Athens) the US isn't even a democracy. They're a republic, the people elect people to make laws for them. A democracy is where every person votes on each law. Mr. R00t Talk
- well if my impression is correct slaves and women were not allowed to vote in the Greek city states. That is a sizable chunk of population ( ? majority) which was disenfranchised for anyone to call the setup democratic.--Wikireader41 (talk) 09:08, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- So was the US not an actual democracy until the passage of the 19th amendment in 1920? Tarc (talk) 12:40, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- exactly my point. The Truth is fuzzy. we just have to report what POTUS says. At risk of being offensive what The POTUS says is more important than any other Tom Dick or Harry. So please keep your pleadings of WP:TRUTH to yourself. who cares really about what any one of you (or me) thinks.--Wikireader41 (talk) 12:59, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- BTW, the original intent of what I posted above was not to make a "truth" argument, but rather to point out how absurd your position on this matter was. But the matter is closed now. Better luck next time... Tarc (talk) 20:31, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

- I'm curious. What about Ancient Athens? Technically (by definition of democracy according to Athens) the US isn't even a democracy. They're a republic, the people elect people to make laws for them. A democracy is where every person votes on each law. Mr. R00t Talk

Your recent comment
[edit]Hi Wikireader! Thanks for your contributions to the current deletion discussion on Tablighi Jamaat & allegations of terrorism. I'm sorry to leave a criticism for you when I haven't thanked you before for your thoughtful input to the discussion, but I found the following sentence that you've added to be uncivil: "trying to suppress this info by getting article deleted when every Intelligence agency is paying attention to TJ ( for its ties to terrorists) reeks of an extreme POV." I'd appreciate if you could refactor this sentence, please, since I don't find it accurate nor civil nor believe it adds to your argument. I guess that this is an emotionally charged topic, which is why it's especially important to focus on the content not the contributor, &c. Hope that you have a happy New Year!! Thanks for your understanding. Also, congrats on all your ITN articles, it looks like you've done a lot of work on improving Wikipedia this year :-) CordeliaNaismith (talk) 01:07, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- which part do you not find accurate may I ask ?? In any case my comment was not addressed at you and I think helps understand why certain editors are making the same lame arguments when plenty of sources are saying that multiple agencies have TJ under the scanners for their ties to terrorism. I hope you have a wonderful great new year too and continue top make positive contributions. Thanx for your understanding.--Wikireader41 (talk) 01:39, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply and for the kind wishes! I don't think that the arguments that either you, or the other editor are making could be fairly described as "reeking of an extreme POV." I think he's made some good points, as have you. TBH, I agree more with the points he's made, and his comments here, here, and here pretty much summarize my understanding of the topic also, not that I know much about this area. "Extreme POV?" I don't see it at all in his comments here, and frankly even if I did I'd find this needlessly incendiary language. Arguments should be able to stand on their own, there's no need to speculate about the motivations or personal views of the editors making them. Thanks, CordeliaNaismith (talk) 03:09, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- you are welcome to agree with who so ever you want to. you still did not answer my question about which part of my statement was inaccurate ??? Are you of the belief that allegations of terrorism don't exist against TJ or that they are simply untrue ?? if it is the latter I would strongly urge you to withdraw this nomination and read WP:TRUTH. we are interested in verifiability not truth here on wp. It is a verifiable fact that many allegations of terrorism exist against TJ ( true or false). relax this is nothing in anybody's comments is "incendiary" on this AfD and frankly the odds of this article being deleted are slim to none and I standby all my comments and feel that they support my arguments. many debates on wp get emotionally charged and if you are having trouble dealing with them may I suggest taking a wikibreak. again best wishes to you, thanx for your time and have a wonderful day.--Wikireader41 (talk) 04:03, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- I found the part claiming that the other editor's comment is "reeking of an extreme POV" to be inaccurate. Sorry if I didn't make that clear before. Thanks, CordeliaNaismith (talk) 04:10, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Thank You for your comments. I am fully aware of the fact and that is exactly what I am in pursuit of doing. I am only allowing fully substantiated and neutral point of view statements to be on this highly contentious page. In addition, to balance the point of view, I am adding new reference. Anything that is not substantiated and point of view, you are welcome to point out, provide the reason for and remove and I will do the same. Killbillsbrowser (talk) 15:18, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Drone Myth put to rest
[edit]Any Pakistani general who doesn't first tell the public that those drones fly out of an airfield inside of Pakistan, a field protected by the Pakistan army, has no credibility whatsoever in my book. Hudicourt (talk) 01:05, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
