Information icon Hello, I'm MarcGarver. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Dante or Die Theatre seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. MarcGarver (talk) 14:41, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MarcGarver I am aware and agree that wikipedia is written from a neutral position. I am confused by how you felt what I wrote was not neutral - the company have won awards and therefore are 'award-winning' and a simple google search of the organisation shows that they include participation in the development of their projects.
Perhaps you could offer another edit of what I had written to demonstrate how it could be more neutral? So that I can enhance my wikipedia editing skills? Thank you WoodyWard83 WoodyWard83 (talk) 15:21, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's a wider problem than "award winning". For example, you wrote "Participation is woven into all their work, creating opportunities for local people - often engaging for the first time - to develop skills in performance while contributing lived experience to the creative processes." That sounds like advertising copy from their website, or a promotional piece in a newspaper. It is not how an encyclopaedia is written. You need to find serious, reliable, independent sources that discuss the group from all angles providing balance. MarcGarver (talk) 15:43, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Here's a very specific example. Try typing "Donald Trump's achievements" into Google. The first result that comes back is a link to this website. It includes text like "Delivered a future of greater promise and opportunity for citizens of all backgrounds." Well, maybe that's true, and may it's not, but what it certainly isn't is balanced and neutral. That's what's happened when you put in text like "creating opportunities for local people". Was that said by someone who was actually neutral and trying to express an independent view? Unlikely. Neutrality is gained by expressing things with facts rather than opinions. For example, "since 2021, the theatre has provided scholarships to more than 100 students" (with a citation to a reliable source) is much more neutral in tone and the facts in the statement can be checked.
