If you want to make changes and try again, copy and paste your article into a new submission and make your changes there. Freud, Sigmund (froid) [key], 1856–1939, Austrian psychiatrist, founder of psychoanalysis. Born in Moravia, he lived most of his life in Vienna, receiving his medical degree from the Univ. of Vienna in 1881. His medical career began with an apprenticeship (1885–86) under J. M. Charcot in Paris, and soon after his return to Vienna he began his famous collaboration with Josef Breuer on the use of hypnosis in the treatment of hysteria. Their paper, On the Psychical Mechanism of Hysterical Phenomena (1893, tr. 1909), more fully developed in Studien über Hysterie (1895), marked the beginnings of psychoanalysis in the discovery that the symptoms of hysterical patients—directly traceable to psychic trauma in earlier life—represent undischarged emotional energy (conversion; see hysteria). The therapy, called the cathartic method, consisted of having the patient recall and reproduce the forgotten scenes while under hypnosis. The work was poorly received by the medical profession, and the two men soon separated over Freud's growing conviction that the undefined energy causing conversion was sexual in nature. Freud then rejected hypnosis and devised a technique called free association (see association), which would allow emotionally charged material that the individual had repressed in the unconscious to emerge to conscious recognition. Further works, The Interpretation of Dreams (1900, tr. 1913), The Psychopathology of Everyday Life (1904, tr. 1914), and Three Essays on the Theory of Sexuality (1905, tr. 1910), increased the bitter antagonism toward Freud, and he worked alone until 1906, when he was joined by the Swiss psychiatrists Eugen Bleuler and C. G. Jung, the Austrian Alfred Adler, and others. In 1908, Bleuler, Freud, and Jung founded the journal Jahrbuch für psychoanalytische und psychopathologische Forschungen, and in 1909 the movement first received public recognition when Freud and Jung were invited to give a series of lectures at Clark Univ. in Worcester, Mass. In 1910 the International Psychoanalytical Association was formed with Jung as president, but the harmony of the movement was short-lived: between 1911 and 1913 both Jung and Adler resigned, forming their own schools in protest against Freud's emphasis on infantile sexuality and the Oedipus complex. Although these men, and others who broke away later, objected to Freudian theories, the basic structure of psychoanalysis as the study of unconscious mental processes is still Freudian. Disagreement lies largely in the degree of emphasis placed on concepts largely originated by Freud. He considered his last contribution to psychoanalytic theory to be The Ego and the Id (1923, tr. 1927), after which he reverted to earlier cultural preoccupations. Totem and Taboo (1913, tr. 1918), an investigation of the origins of religion and morality, and Moses and Monotheism (1939, tr. 1939) are the result of his application of psychoanalytic theory to cultural problems. With the National Socialist occupation of Austria, Freud fled (1938) to England, where he died the following year. Freudian theory has had wide impact, influencing fields as diverse as anthropology, education, art, and literary criticism. His daughter, Anna Freud, was a major proponent of psychoanalysis, developing in particular the Freudian concept of the defense mechanism. Other works include A General Introduction to Psychoanalysis (1910, tr. 1920) and New Introductory Lectures on Psycho-analysis (1933). Bibliography See his Basic Writings (tr. and ed. by A. A. Brill, 1938, repr., 1977); The Freud-Jung Letters, ed. by W. McGuire (1974, repr. 1988); biographies by E. Jones (3 vol., 1953–57, abr. ed. 1974) and P. Gay (1988); studies by P. Roazen (1975), H. Briana Smith(guitar, Keys, vocals) and Jessica Seamans (bass, recorder, vocals), the core members, grew up in the Brianard lake area in a town called Crosby and are reallife best friends. At first “two brainy, nerdy outcasts who eventually developed a fierce mutual devotion, although when they first met in 5th grade they made a lousy impression on each other. But not for long. As they discovered they had the same passion for gothy, alt-rock giants Smashing Pumpkins and a hunger to make their own music, they melded together as friends. By seventh grade, they were inseparable.” (Chris Roberts Minnesota radio 5-3-07) Still in their teen years. they recorded their first two songs ( I want to plug U in & The BFF theme song) on a split 7” with “Everybell” on the tiny say-and-stay-said label recorded march 2003 and released may 2003 in a serie of 300 clear vinyl records that were the christening release for the label as well.( SSS-0001) The records were split up between the groups and each had150 hand-screen printed sleeves. The BFF sleeves were (and mostly are still) designed by Jessica Seamans. A year later in their first trio line up with Karl Rotto on drums they recorded a CDep. (SSS-0003) “Cute, cheerful, and unabashedly ramshackle, the group first made a splash on the local scene with the release of their self-titled debut in 2004. That album’s standout track was “My Head in Front of Your Head. Sources[edit]http://www.last.fm/music/Best+Friends+Forever

In 1997 there were a number of gang related attacks that left 14 people dead. The 14K triad under Wan Kuok-koi (nicknamed 崩牙駒 Lit. Broken Tooth Koi) was being challenged by the smaller Shui Fong (水房 Lit. Water Room, originated from a workers' union of the legacy Hong Kong Soft drink company, Wo On Lok 和安樂) triad. The next year a gunman believed to be connected to the local 14K triad killed a Portuguese prison officer and wounded another at a sidewalk café in Macau. In 1999, a Portuguese court convicted 45-year-old mob boss Broken Tooth Koi on various criminal charges and sentenced him to 15 years imprisonment. His 14K gang was suspected of drive-by shootings, car bombings and attempted assassinations. Seven of his associates received lesser sentences. Since the crackdown in Macau, the 14K triad resurfaced in North American cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver. In response to the massive publicity generated by Broken Tooth Koi, 14K dramatically lowered its public profile. Meanwhile, loan sharking and money laundering continue to be the primary sources of revenue for 14K in North America. "What investigative reporter Terry Gould has to say about 14K Triad mobster Steven Wong: “Every criminal has to have somebody on his case. For Steven Wong, I’m that somebody.” What Steven Wong has to say about his nemesis, Terry Gould: “If you were Chinese and you wrote this, you’d be gone.” "The 14K Triad, based in Hong Kong, has over 20,000 members, usually of Cantonese origin, within thirty subgroups. (US Hearings 93) It is characterized as the principal rival of the Sun Yee On in Hong Kong. The 14K also have a conspicuous presence in Taiwan that "was established by a Kuomintang general and still has ties to the Kuomintang Party." (US Hearings 93) It additionally has associates all throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, and the Far East. It has been particularly active in heroin trafficking. Her three editions of the award-winning The Jakarta Good Food Guide have made her a leading voice in contemporary food writing in Indonesia. She also belongs to a rare breed of Indonesian contemporary writers writing both in English and Indonesian. When her first collection of poetry, Ellipsis, came out, The Jakarta Post wrote, “Although some literary works of local authors, like those of Pramoedya Ananta Toer, have also gained international recognition, Laksmi has become the first whose book has been mentioned as a book of the year.” Ellipsis also appeared in The Herald UK Books of the Year 2005 list. In 2006, Pamuntjak released her treatise on violence and the Iliad entitled Perang, Langit dan Dua Perempuan (War, Heaven, and Two Women), along with her first collection of art-inspired short stories, The Diary of R.S.: Musings on Art. In 2007, she published The Anagram, her second poetry collection, along with On God and Other Unfinished Things, her translation of Tuhan dan Hal-Hal yang Tak Selesai, a book of aphorisms by the renowned Indonesian poet, journalist and intellectual Goenawan Mohamad. Pamuntjak is presently working on her first novel, The Blue Widow. It is set primarily in Buru Island, Maluku, Indonesia, the site of a penal colony during the repressive Suharto administration where approximately 12,000 alleged communists were detained without due process. She lives in Jakarta, Indonesia. Jade Chung (b. November 6, 1984) is a Canadian professional wrestling manager and wrestler who has appeared in Border City Wrestling, IWA Mid-South, the National Wrestling Alliance, Ring of Honor and Pro Wrestling Guerilla. She has managed some of the top wrestlers on the independent circuit including Frankie Kazarian, Jimmy Rave, Nate Mattson, Conrad Kennedy III, A-1 and Scorpio Sky as well as Mr. Hughes and ”Franchise” Shane Douglas. [6] Early life and career[edit]Born in Guelph, Ontario of Chinese-Vietnamese decent, Chung started modeling at the age of 12 as a runway model and appeared in cover stories for several fashion magazines while modeling in Vietnam. A wrestling fan as a child, she often watched the World Wrestling Federation well into high school. Chung was encouraged to enter professional wrestling after meeting Beth Phoenix and Traci Brooks at a local wrestling event and spent her summers training at Rob Fuego’s Toronto-based wrestling school Squared Circle Training. Having some personal friends already in professional wrestling, she later attended local independent shows in hopes of getting hired full time. Chung began modeling in February 1997. In 2002, Chung won the "Cover Girl" title from the Vietnamese fashion magazine Thoi Moi in 2002 and appeared on the cover of two other Vietnamese fashion magazines the following year. Chung was also one of 500 models selected to represent ImportFest 2003 in Toronto and was a top ten finalist in the 2004 Miss Viet Canada Pageant. She also starred as an extra in Ashanti's "Rain On Me" music video. [6] She eventually made her professional debut for wrestler/promoter Scott D'Amore's Border City Wrestling where, in September 2003, she managed ”Franchise” Shane Douglas to win the BCW Can-Am Heavyweight Championship from D-Lo Brown. She would spend the next two years in varior independent promotions in Canada and the United States. [7] At A Night of Appreciation for Sabu, she was in the corner of A-1 when he defeated D-Lo Brown to win the BCW Can-Am Heavyweight Championship in Belleville, Michigan on December 12, 2004. [8] [9] Ring of Honor[edit]In early-2005, Jade Chung made her debut in Ring of Honor as a valet for manager Prince Nana's stable The Embassy replacing Angel Williams. Although part of one of the top factions in the promotion, Chung was used as a footstool for members of the stable, particularly Jimmy Rave. [10] She was in the corner of Jimmy Rave when he defeated CM Punk in a dog collar match at Manhattan Mayhem on May 31. During the match, she was one of several members of The Embassy to interfere in the match and, at one point, she had entered the ring to apply a sleeper hold on CM Punk. [11] [12] After Jimmy Rave lost to Roderick Strong on October 1, Jade left The Embassy to become the manager of Generation Next in their feud with The Embassy. The following night, she interfered in a match between Jimmy Rave and Matt Sydal costing him the match. She continued to feud with rival manager Prince Nana and, during a match on October 29, she attacked him with a tilt-a-whirl DDT. On November 5, Ring of Honor announced that Chung had been attacked by an unidentified man in the parking lot. A still photo of Jimmy Rave was shown on November 19 attacking Chung and the promotion claimed that she was no longer involved in wrestling. The feud was finally concluded at Steel Cage Warfare when she made a surprise appearance during the main event, an 8-man Steel Cage Warfare match between The Embassy (Jimmy Rave, Abyss, Alex Shelley & Prince Nana) vs. Generation Next (Roderick Strong, Matt Sydal, Austin Aries & Jack Evans). Chung, who appeared with bandages as a result of her attack by Jimmy Rave, distracted The Embassy long enough for Jack Evans to enter the match and perform a double moonsault off the top off the cage. After Generation Next defeated The Embassy, Chung used Jimmy Rave as her own footstool during the in-ring celebration after the match. [13] Pro Wrestling Guerrilla[edit]In March 2006, she appeared as the manager of the Human Tornado & Scorpio Sky. She also made an appearance at All Pro Wrestling's Gym Wars, being in the corner of B-Boy in his defeat against MPT, and for Battle Ground Wrestling with Scott Lost loosing a match to Foob Dogg for a lifetime contract with the company. She also managed Joey Ryan in single matches during the same time in PWG. [14] On October 7, Chung participated in a "First Blood Handicap" match with Scorpio Sky, teaming as the Scorpio Sky Experience, to defeat Frankie Kazarian. A month later, her stable (Scorpio Sky, Chris Bosh, Scott Lost & Joey Ryan) lost an 8-man tag team match against Candice LeRae's team (Frankie Kazarian, Human Tornado, El Generico and Quicksilver). She eventually turned on Scorpio Sky after he lost a "Loser Leaves PWG" match to Frankie Kazarian on January 27, 2007. At the NWA supercard Bloodlust! 3, she and Kitana Vera defeated Candice LeRae & Carla Jade in a tag team match in Covina, California on November 9. [15] She continued to appear with Scott Lost & Joey Ryan and was in their corner at the first supercard for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla as they faced Age of the Fall (Tyler Black & Jimmy Jacobs) at PWG All Star Weekend 6, Night 1 in Van Nuys, California on January 5, 2008. [16] Injured by Super Dragon in March, she was forced to take a leave of absence and, as a result, Scott Lost & Joey Ryan lost several opportunities to win the PWG Tag Team titles in matches against El Blazer & KAGETORA and Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre).
