Questions for the candidate
[edit]Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. Please answer these questions to provide guidance for participants:
- 1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
- A: any work asked of me, I already nominate articles for deletion that I feel are are in violation of wikipedia's rules, i also check on new user, welcome them and warn them if they do something wrong, I also fight vandalism and i'm a member of the doctor who wikiproject
- 2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
- A: Vandalism is my best work as I have mostly warned every user I've reverted except those who have already recieved their final warning then I send them to the AIV board
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: when I was a new user, I had done some very silly things, including getting into an edit war with several users at the doctor who articles, over silly things such as images and original research, I did not deal with them well and this reasulted in my rollback rights being removed, in the future I will learn not to get into conflicts and try to gain consensus first
- Additional optional question from Frank
- 4. What will you be able to do as an administrator that you aren't already doing as a user and vandal-fighter?
- A: I'd very much like to block people as this would help with my vandal fighting, also today I went help a user who needed a file moving, but i couldn't move the file, so i couldnt help them, If I was an admin I could help people who need files moving and this in turn would allow me to help users even more--Lerdthenerd (talk) 10:12, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Additional optional question from Amalthea
- 5. Under what circumstances, if any, would you block a user without any warnings?
- A:
- 6. Could you elaborate on your views regarding blocks (e.g. when they should be used or when users should be unblocked …)?
- A:
- 7. What are cool down blocks, and in what context are cool down blocks useful or not useful?
- A:

[edit]WP:NOTNOWReapply after more content and policy work in a few months , sorry. StrPby (talk) 08:48, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]- Lerdthenerd has an account for three and a half years, with thousands of edits. NOTNOW was not written for candidates like this. Amalthea 09:00, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- I think the gist of NOTNOW applies, even if not written for cases of this nature. That said, I must admit the weak self-nom did fool me into thinking xe's new. Redacting. StrPby (talk) 09:14, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose but with moral support. Welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for all your efforts. However, I think you need a good bit more experience before you're ready for admin. You need to be able to explain what admin work you plan on doing too, and show some experience in areas related to that planned work. (Admin work is something you do of your own initiative - it doesn't work by waiting to be asked to do things.) I look forward to being able to support a future request. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 08:58, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose. Concerns with experience and policy knowledge. Consider reapplying in a few months. -FASTILY (TALK) 08:59, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Sorry, but the number of warnings on your talk page regarding inappropriate speedy deletion tags is concerning. Pedro : Chat 09:37, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose per Fastily and Pedro. I'm sorry.--White Shadows Your guess is as good as mine 10:27, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
