Removing NOEDITSECTION
[edit]This page is transcluded in Wikipedia:Introduction, which offers a sandbox feature to new users. If __NOEDITSECTION__ here then people won't have the basic functionality of changing the section they added. The effect of __NOEDITSECTION__ can be easily emulated by marking "headline" text as bold and big. This creates no problems since we have __NOTOC__ anyway. — Sebastian 01:31, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

What happened?
[edit]@Interstellarity and Steel1943: I saw recent changes here because of all the error messages now displayed on my profile page. Can either of you share what's going on here? ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:58, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- Another Believer, Can you send me a screenshot of what you see on your end? That might help me determine where the problem is. Interstellarity (talk) 22:00, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- Interstellarity, I see 5 boxes with the text, "This user page is currently inactive and is retained for historical reference. If you want to revive discussion regarding the subject, you might try contacting the user in question or seeking broader input via a forum such as the village pump." I assume this is one for each of the tabs displayed at the top of my user pages. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:02, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Another Believer: I tagged the subpages of WP:Introduction with {{historical}}. You have transcluded the pages onto your user page. Do you mind if I edit your user page to fix the problem? Interstellarity (talk) 22:07, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- Interstellarity, Please do! Thank you. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:09, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) @Another Believer: See Wikipedia talk:Introduction (historical)#RfC. Per that RfC, this page has been deemed deprecated/historical, as well as most pages currently sitting at Special:PrefixIndex/Wikipedia:Introduction, with editors now being directed to use Help:Introduction and its procedure instead. Right now, there are a few editors, such as myself, working to get the subpages properly moved to titles under Wikipedia:Introduction (historical), but since not all the page moves have occurred yet, some of the new links do not work. - Steel1943, Very helpful, thank you. Wasn't sure if I needed to be using a different framework/templates moving forward. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:11, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Another Believer: Just a note on that: Once all the subpages of Wikipedia:Introduction (as well as Wikipedia:Tutorial) get moved properly, your "tabs" should start working as intended again if you wish to use them ... as long as you transclude the pages titled with "(historical)" at the end of their titles instead. Steel1943 (talk) 22:14, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Interstellarity and Steel1943: Would one of you mind pinging me when your work here is complete so I can make sure everything is working fine as far as how the tabs function for me? Much appreciated. ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:13, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Another Believer: Done. Should be good now. Interstellarity (talk) 23:16, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- Whatever happened here, it was a big oops. I have reverted changes to all of these pages. They broke 100+ pages in which these pages were transcluded. Whether it makes sense or not, people were using these pages as templates. If they need to be moved to Template space, start a discussion. Otherwise, they can be marked as Historical with a noinclude statement, and left alone. – Jonesey95 (talk) 23:17, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- OK my tabs seem to be back to normal but I'm not sure if that's from Jonesey95's reverts or not. ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:21, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Another Believer: I wrapped the Historical template with noinclude tags as Jonesey95 instructed. I substituted the templates on your main userpage. Then, I realized I should've run that by you first, so I left your user subpages alone. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 23:35, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- Rotideypoc41352, I've just left a note on your user talk page, before reading this note. I'm so confused! ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:36, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- Rotideypoc41352, I was unable to find an MfD or TfD discussion indicating a decision to move or subst these tab pages, which are effectively templates living in Wikipedia space. I posted a note at the original RFC discussion. – Jonesey95 (talk) 23:47, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
