This seems like a particularly important set of articles to be made, so perhaps someone with the requisite knowledge can at least stub them all? Cheers! bd2412 T 17:16, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
Lista Aikidoka
[edit]Postovanje,
— Preceding unsigned comment added by Cedomirrosic (talk • contribs) 14:12, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

The article Palilula neighbourhood, Niš has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Neighborhoods generally don't meet W:N. No mention of notability no references
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. JeepdaySock (AKA, Jeepday) 17:18, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
"Matches", not "games"
[edit]This may sound trivial but a number of times this error is donne in many articles is incredible. Because of an enormous number of sports articles under this project I do feel a need to adress this here. I noteced that google translation wrongly translates Serbian "utakmice", "mečevi", "igra" (all of them meaning matches) into English "games" and I also unfortunatelly noteced that most Serbian editors follow it instead of correcting it. It should be match or matches, not game or games. I supose most of those editors wan´t read this here (mostly IP´s) but I would like to ask editors to correct to matches all times games is wronly used in many sports articles. Renaming Years in Yugoslavia to disambiguation SFRY and FRY
[edit]This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.
If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none
parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Skanderbeg in WP Serbia
[edit]Should article Skanderbeg be tagged with {{WikiProject Serbia}} tag? I ask this per:
- Skanderbeg may have Serbian mother, Vojsava,
- he was donating to Hilandar monastery,
- he is mentioned in Serbian literature numerous times,
- he proclaimed himself the heir of the Balšići
- he participated in Battle of Niš with Serbian army
- .. ...
So, what do you say? For more info, see this section. --WhiteWriter speaks 13:49, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- Oh God, not another of those... Anyhow, in my view, yes. WikiProject tags being rather meaningless clutter by themselves - except when they're used to demarcate national territory, *sigh* - the threshold for inclusion is rather low: if the subject falls in any way within a project's scope, it can be tagged. Since Skanderbeg was involved in medieval Serbian history, he can be included. Literature references and donations to Hilandar are rather irrelevant IMO as many rulers did this without actively being related to Serbia, but possible Serbian descent is important, and he campaigned in Serbia. Heck, there's a WikiProject Albania tag on Albert Einstein because he once held an Albanian passport, so Skanderbeg's case is rock-solid by comparison... Constantine ✍ 14:25, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- WW Skanderbeg was never a commander of any Serbian army as he was one of the Ottoman commanders at that battle. If WPSRB is relevant then so are WP Montenegro, WP Macedonia, WP Italy.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 14:37, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- Why is that problem? That is the main point of WP tags! And none told that he commanded Serbian army... --WhiteWriter speaks 14:43, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Let's take the article itself: "Skanderbeg and his army ravaged Branković's land to punish Serbs for desertion of Christian cause". This may not be the most important thing Skanderbeg ever did, but the article itself states that he campaigned in Serbia. WP Macedonia is probably irrelevant as the modern Macedonian nation did not exist in the 15th century, WP Montenegro likewise because Skanderbeg was AFAIK not active in Montenegro, but WP Italy could certainly be added, indeed it should be. Constantine ✍ 14:49, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- He didn't raid any area of Serbia but the area around Budva and Ulqin in Montenegro(Brankovic's realm).--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 14:58, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- Hmmm, well, there isn't really any differentiation between Montenegro and Serbia proper in the 15th century. The Brankovic were Serbian rulers, period. If it were up to me, I wouldn't put the tag there, but I wouldn't remove it either because there is relevance: Skanderbeg was active in the post-Serbian Empire western Balkans, almost by default he interacted with Serian rulers and people. Constantine ✍ 15:15, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- I will not go into details whether and how Skanderbeg is related to Serbs or Serbia, but I don't see a reason why not have WikiProject Serbia tag on the talk page. But, I don't think that it should be rated as Top-importance like in WikiProject Albania. Maybe "importance=low" is more appropriate for WikiProject Serbia.--Kebeta (talk) 17:33, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Kraljevo earthquake
[edit]Can someone please take a look at the 2010 Serbia earthquake article? The aid section is way too big and I have no idea how to fix it without removing valid sources. BytEfLUSh | Talk! 23:22, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- It's a case of WP:RECENT as it seems the earth quake received quite a lot of news coverage in Serbia at the time although in Wikipedia terms it was nothing special (2 people dead and one of the weakest earth quakes in our 2010 template - this one was 5.3 MW and the threshold for inclusion by default is 5.0). Just turn the list into prose and mention notable donors (the ones who are notable themselves and whose donation is worth mentioning). Government's aid merits a single sentence giving it all in a nutshell, no need to list what each ministry and dozens of municipalities had done to help. Public companies tend to donate funds in times of disasters anyway so that part could be scrapped. Help from abroad merits some inclusion but it needs pruning and as for individuals only a few most notable ones might be mentioned. See articles like 2011 Yunnan earthquake. Timbouctou (talk) 03:06, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
- I beleave that turning it into prose would be the best way. I would suggest making the text in the form of, ex: The municipalities of X, X and X contributed with 2m, X and X with 1.5... bottled water to the victims and workers was donated by Vlade Divac, ... Organisations such as UNESCO (500.000 €), SOS Children´s Villages (100,000 €), ... each one keeping the sources next to it that way. FkpCascais (talk) 05:11, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
- Make a new page on the aid. So the aid subsection in the main article has one paragraph, and then there is a whole new page that goes into more detail. (LAz17 (talk) 17:19, 8 July 2011 (UTC)).

Višegrad
[edit]Should article Višegrad be tagged with {{WP Serbia}}? Emir Kusturica is building Kamengrad in Višegrad, Also, Višegrad massacres happened in Višegrad. What do you say? I) think yes. --WhiteWriter speaks 13:43, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
- The front page says that "this project has been created to improve articles related to Serbia". Višegrad is in Bosnia and Herzegovina and already covered by WP:BiH, just like Banja Luka for example. I don't see how Kusturica's projects are relevant here. The massacres you mention were committed by Bosnian Serbs who are, by definition, related to WP:BiH and the article on the massacres is not covered by WP:Serbia either. So I think not. Serbia - Hitler's ally?
[edit]It should be mentioned that a " Serbia" is being listed on Wikipedia's World War II infoboxes as an ally of Nazi Germany and the NDH (for example [3]). This is due to the efforts of User:PANONIAN, a user who feels the Government of National Salvation of Milan Nedić should be called "Serbia", implying the existence of a collaborationist Serbian country.
The issue is taking place on the Serbia under German occupation article. That article the user has renamed into a name which uses the name "Serbia". He also believes the infobox should not be about the German Military Administration, but about a "Serbia", which would use that name at its front. To me, seeing "Serbia" alongside "Croatia" and "Nazi Germany" in the Nazi column was, I admit, a bit shocking. The issue is currently being discussed here [4], regards --DIREKTOR (TALK) 04:57, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

census 2011
[edit]With census apparently going ahead in October [5][6][7] I suggest some preparation - {{Infobox Serbia municipality}} has the 2002 census reference hardcoded so it'll be either stuck in the past or massively inconsistent throughout the period it takes Wikipedians to update all the pages (165 at this time). For the .hr census this year a special template was created and used in each individual article - i.e. it's not hardcoded within an infobox template. Even if you don't decide to switch completely to a scheme where each article provides its own population data reference, some adjustment of the infobox template will be necessary - perhaps a new parameter that will allow one to select 2002 or 2011 as the source, or even something arbitrary. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 14:15, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
- Preliminary census results are released first. Then the official results get released. Those take quite some time to get released so it's best to wait. (LAz17 (talk) 15:32, 18 October 2011 (UTC)).

Bosnian war Operation Corridor
[edit]We've had a persistent problem with POV pushing and edit warring at Operation Corridor for months now, and it looks like there's a general confusion regarding the timeline of the operation. The Serbian POV edits have limited the time of the operation to around two months, but still mentioned Bosanski Brod three months later, and used Croatian POV sources to reference that (d'oh). The Croatian POV edits have pointed to the preceding invasion of Bosanski Šamac and largely ignored the stated length. I've tried to make some sense of it, and enforced WP:ARBMAC against the most egregious POV pusher, but I fear it's still incoherent and no less prone to dispute, so I would appreciate it if someone else could examine it and try to fix it properly. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 19:15, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

RFC ar Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (use English)
[edit]There has been a brewing issue at WP:RM over WP:HOCKEY recommendations and how they should be applied over WP:COMMONNAME and WP:UE. Basically the hockey recommendation is that Diacritics shall be applied to all player pages, where appropriate as for the languages of the nationalities of the players in question. This is in fact a mandate that does not allow consideration of any other policy on naming. I think we need to resolve the issue of which naming convention we use for ice hockey players. Is it the one for the names of everyone else based on existing policy and guidelines, or do we have a blanket exception for one project? Noam Chomsky Discusses Kosovo in 1999
[edit]Ovaj tekst možda može biti interesantan izvor- http://www.democracynow.org/1999/4/5/noam_chomsky_discusses_kosovo . Ovaj mi se odgovor čini interesantnim:
- AMY GOODMAN: What do you think, Noam Chomsky, should happen right now in the Balkans, in Yugoslavia? What should the US, what should NATO be doing?
- NOAM CHOMSKY: I think it is — should be clear to any moderately dispassionate observer that the NATO bombings, apart from being a sharp attack on the principles of international order and world order and international law, apart from that, are having the predictable effect of sharply escalating the atrocities. When you’re carrying out an action that is making a bad situation worse, much worse, first step is to stop carrying out that action. After that — so the bombings should be stopped. After that, efforts should be made to explore the few remaining options. The more violence is used, the fewer the options are. So there are fewer options now than there were two weeks ago. But they’re still not zero. They just become fewer and uglier. It will mean a return to some form of negotiations and diplomacy. The United States and Britain, the two warrior states, basically have rendered themselves ineligible for participation in any such negotiations. But there are powers with a more — and elements with a more neutral stance that might try to undertake them. As I say, the options are very much reduced, and the few that remain are pretty ugly. But perhaps the best that one can imagine at this stage of the game is some kind of partition of Kosovo, which is probably what Milosevic is aiming for anyway, with the northern areas, which are the areas with the resources and the historical monuments and so on, with those taken over simply by Serbia, and the rest, which is — will be a kind of a desert used to return Kosovars that the West doesn’t want. That’s not pretty. It’s ugly. But it’s hard to see what other options remain.--MirkoS18 (talk) 01:42, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, its interesting. It can be added to NATO bombing of Serbia, or even Kosovo war article... We'll see. --WhiteWriterspeaks 19:36, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
Serbian biography articles
[edit]Does the project have any guidelines about how Serbian surnames should be represented in English for Category:Serbian sportspeople stubs, such as Talk:Nikola Cacic (Čačić) for example? In ictu oculi (talk) 04:21, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
- I expanded the article romanization of Serbian. Seems there is ambiguity on WP about whether Serbian counts as Latin alphabet (with diacritics) or cyrillic (like Bulgarian). According to current guideline at WP:UE if Serbian is cyrillic Zoran Đinđić should be renamed to Zoran Dindic (as if Bulgarian) and the ć in Mirko Cvetković should be removed. If, alternatively, Serbian is both Latin and Cyrillic, then naming like Talk:Nikola Cacic should not occur. In ictu oculi (talk) 02:48, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
- Serbian uses both Cyrillic and Latin, and has no relation to Bulgarian on these matters. Bulgarian follows Russian forms of transliteration while Serbian and Macedonian transliterate to Gaj's Latin alphabet. See for exemple Romanization of Macedonian. There is no reason whatsoever to make any other forms of transliteration for Serbian rather than to Gaj's Latin alphabet which is officially recognised in Serbia. Serbia is one of the few countries where Cyrillic and Latin scrypt are both officially recognised, although Cyrillic has preference for administrative uses, but only that. If you notece, half of the Serbian press uses Gajs Latin...
- You already told me in another discussion about the article on Romanization of Serbian needing an update, but I haven´t had time to see it. But beleve me, Serbian case is not at all equal to Bulgarian, as Bulgarian doesn´t use Latin alphabet while Serbian does. See for exemple this Serbian website: Trojka.rs. That is Serbian Latin (Gaj´s). Latin alphabet probably begin being used in Serbia around the time when Kingdom of Yugoslavia was created in 1918 and the languages of Serbian, Croatian and Slovene were all merged into Serbo-Croato-Slovenian. Strange name, I know, it was the predecessor of Serbo-Croatian, as in 1945 Slovenian became again a separate language as the difference in comparison with the other two were substantial. So, since 1918 Serbian language, which was merged into Serbo-Croato-Slovene started accepting both forms of scrypt, the traditional Serbian Cyrillic and the Gajs (Croatian) Latin as well. After WWII even more people started writting Serbian in Latin scrypt and even many press changed to Latin. No need to tell you that with the beggining of computing and internet latin is in practice even more used. Some traditionalists begin asking for Cyrillic to be restored as the only scrypr, but the only thing the governament did was only to make a decree saying that all official state documents must be written in Cyrillic, but Latin continued to be official as well, and widelly used troughout the country.
- So I hope is clear that Serbian is digraphic, Cyrillic and Latin, so no need to put it in a separate group of Cirillic-only languages, right the opposite. Serbian language should be treated same as Croatian, Slovenian, and all other Slavic Latin scrypt societies. Actually, as Serbian and Croatian are quite related and both share Gaj´s alphabet, Serbian should be dealt in exact same way as Croatian. Even Macedonian which only uses Cyrillic scrypt achnolledged the strong influence of Gaj´s Latin during the period of Yugoslavia, so they officially transliterate into Gaj´s Latin (with accents and all) and not as other languages like Bulgarian or Russian. - Said this, Zoran Đinđić should allways be transliterated into Zoran Djindjic in case of diacritics being removed. FkpCascais (talk) 03:33, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
Hi KhpCascais, many thanks. I have been sourcing Romanization of Serbian with material from Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian, a Textbook: With Exercises and Basic Grammar: Ronelle Alexander, Ellen Elias-Bursac: 9780299212049. I have now added a jpg of a cover of Blic. Since WP:UE does not say that Serbian is digraphic under present WP MOS there is no explicit guidance, and most readers I would expect would take WP:UE to mean that Zoran Đinđić should be renamed to Zoran Dindic (as if Bulgarian). There may be some value in WikiProject Serbia editors having in place a recommendation of the project regarding how to treat Serbian names, probably in a paragraph on the Project page. In ictu oculi (talk) 23:27, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
- But In icto oculi, I am not so sure that most people will think it should be transliterated to Bulgarian, because most people do remember the Serbo-Croatian and its latin form. They would rather associate Serbian to Croatian then to Bulgarian. The problem is that there is no article about Transliteration of Croatian simply because Croatian is not transliterated into English, and as many scholars still regard Serbian and Croatian to be part of one Serbo-Crotian language, the Serbian latin (same as Croatian one) is obviously the one to be used. Resumingly, Serbian transliterates into English in its Latin form, exactly the same as Croatian does. What you want to do is to see a formula we could use to include this in WP:UE and to source it, am I right? FkpCascais (talk) 08:11, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, if you notece, even Bulgarian is ambiguos in its transliteration, and has two forms, the one used at UN which uses Serbo-Croatian Latin letters (č,š,ž...) and the official one, adopted in 2006, which replaces this letters with ch,sh,zh. See: Transliteration_of_Bulgarian_into_English#Romanization_sample. FkpCascais (talk) 08:18, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hi FkpCascais, I'd like to believe you were right, but unfortunately I think you're probably wrong - I'm reasonably well travelled (I'd like to think) and have CDs of Croatian and Serbian music, and speak other Slavic languages, and yet I was totally wrong about Serbian. I only 1 month ago was saying to another User on Wp "Serbian doesn't count under WP:UE, it is cyrillic" . I had this Serbian = cyrillic, Croatian = Latin idea in my head from the 1990s. If I was badly wrong, how many other en.wp editors will be wrong? It might help to make a formula to include in WP:UE, but actually the formula is already on WP at Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(Cyrillic)#Serbian it's just that few non-Serbian editors will be aware. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:37, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
- OK, I see, so what about making one simple reference at WP:UE same way as it is found in the link you just provided? Maybe something like - "As Serbian language uses both alphabets, Cyrillic and Latin, it is transliterated into English in its Latin form." - I mean, I just giving an idea, maybe you have a better idea or rephrase it better? I just remembered, this counts for Bosnian Language too, as they also have the same two alphabets as official. FkpCascais (talk) 08:55, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hi. Perhaps a bit awkward and over-prominent to add "Names not originally in a Latin alphabet, such as Greek, Chinese, or Russian names [but not Serbian and Bosnian], must be transliterated" . Might be easier to have a footnote "Latin alphabets include.... Serbian" I don't know. There's no hurry. Some reference here or Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(Cyrillic)#Serbian might be better? or simply slow measured Talk there. In ictu oculi (talk) 09:44, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
- I think that the fact that you want to make a complete sentence including many languages complicates things. I was thinking of rather making one simple sentence only refering to Serbian and Bosnian as special case, similar to the one I put in the exemple. FkpCascais (talk) 11:43, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

Perth requested-move notification
[edit]An earlier requested-move survey generated lots of controversy and an arbitration case. Therefore, this one is being posted here and in many other places, to gather a very wide range of opinions outside of the Scotland and Australia WikiProjects. |
A requested move survey was started at Talk:Perth_(disambiguation)#Requested_move, which proposes to move:
Background: There was a previous requested-move survey which ran from late May to mid June. There was a great deal of controversy surrounding the closure and subsequent events, which involved a number of reverts and re-reverts which are the subject of an ongoing arbitration case. There was a move review process, which was closed with a finding that the original requested-move closure was endorsed; however, the move review process is relatively new and untried. — P.T. WikiProject Serbia acceptance of A-Class assessment by WikiProject Military History
[edit]G'day all, This project does not have a track record of many A-Class reviews. In order to progress more articles to A-Class and FA status within this WikiProject, I propose that we agree to accept A-Class assessments from WikiProject Military History, which has an active and comprehensive process for A-Class review. Thus, if an article passes A-Class for WikiProject Military History, it would automatically be promoted to A-Class status in this WikiProject as well.Peacemaker67 (talk) 07:24, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

There is a discussion on the Talk:Territory of the Military Commander in Serbia which could benefit from the opinion of the members of this project.
The name of article Territory of the Military Commander in Serbia is not COMMONNAME and there is a consensus that it should be changed.
The topic of this article is of course notable, but its official name has not yet received much attention in the English-speaking world, so that there are too few English sources to constitute an established usage. Very low Google counts can but need not be indicative of this. If this happens, follow the conventions of the language in which this entity is most often talked about (German for German politicians, Turkish for Turkish rivers, Portuguese for Brazilian towns etc.).
It is necessary to follow wikipedia naming conventions and to determine what are the conventions of Serbian language for the name of the territory which is a topic of this article.
I would politely ask members of this project to help resolving the above mentioned name issue.
Maybe the solution could be to determine what is the name of the territory in question in Serbian language sources. In that case it would be good to present such name together with sources to this section of the talkpage. If such name is also used in its translated form in English language sources please present such sources too.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 06:49, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
- Don't rush over there, the discussion has taken another track. Peacemaker67 (talk) 12:38, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
- Maybe not.
- If you are right that there is no COMMONNAME for this territory on English language sources, according to wikipedia naming conventions the conventions of the Serbian language should be followed.
- In case you wrong and there actually is COMMONNAME on English language sources, participation of the members of this project would still be useful for that discussion.
- --Antidiskriminator (talk) 12:48, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
- Sure it would, except that I will challenge your interpretation of WP:TITLE, but I'll have that discussion on the article talkpage. Cheers, Peacemaker67 (talk) 12:58, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

Unassessed articles
[edit]- There are about 3,000 unassessed articles in WikiProject Serbia.
- There is Wikipedia:WikiProject Serbia/Assessment with several articles waiting for the review for more than two years.
I invite members of this project to start assessing unassessed articles. If all active members would assess several articles per day, we would soon have this issue resolved.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 11:00, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
- I kindly remind members of WikiProjectSerbia about unassessed articles. If every active editor assess several articles per day this issue will be soon resolved, i.e. number of unassessed articles reduced to more acceptable level.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 21:30, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
- There is very useful tool which can be helpful with articles' assessment. It can be found at 'My preferences'/Gadgets/Appearance/Display an assessment of an article's quality as part of the page header for each article. (documentation). --Antidiskriminator (talk) 21:59, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- I am afraid I made mistake. The number of unassessed articles is higher. Besides almost 3,000 unassessed articles for their quality there are about 5,000 articles for their importance. This is huge job which requires joint effort of many editors. I again invite members of this project to start assessing unassessed articles.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 10:11, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

- I was thinking about organizing some kind of... competition. But that could lead to wrong assessments. Or to create WPS assessment barnstars for assessment of 50, 100 and more than 300 articles per month? Or to invite fellow editors from WP Cro to help with this task like described here. WP Cro is much more active then WPS and many editors there know about the scope of this project very much. Any thoughts? --Antidiskriminator (talk) 13:29, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

- I've been invited to participate here but I don't know what I'm supposed to say. Users Mirko and WhiteWriter are currently engaged in a pretty huge edit war adding this project's tag to random articles they presumably feel are "Serbian enough". Its entirely up to this project to define its scope and goals, and in reverting the pair users were acting in accordance with the current stated scope of the project, and accordingly viewing the addition of the tag as nothing more than provocation by two users. It would be a different matter entirely if the participants of WikiProject Serbia altered the scope to include whole sections and institutions of BiH as being part of WikiProject Serbia (Mirko's other edits), or added areas of Croatia into its scope. I strongly urge participants not to take such a step; I don't think I have to tell anyone how it would be perceived. -- Director (talk) 03:59, 16 December 2012 (UTC)
- O, stop with the nationalistic propaganda. Yugoslavia broke down decade ago! Tagging article means that more people will see it, and work on it. On the other side, tagging articles does not mean that Greater Serbia will be instantly created. You will never, ever explain me and convince me that Serbian Orthodox Secondary School, only high school of Serbian Orthodox Church on the territory of Former Yugoslavia is not related to the Serbia, and Serbs. --WhiteWriterspeaks 14:17, 16 December 2012 (UTC)
- "Nationalist propaganda"? Amusing. I would not dream of stealing your job, WhiteWriter. Don't try to reverse the argument, its painfully transparent: nobody is adding areas to WikiProject Bosnia or WikiProject Croatia - you're adding places outside Serbia to WikiProject Serbia. Whereas the project's disclaimer clearly states its scope concerns Serbia and its people. Its an incredibly obvious and straightforward issue, and unless the scope of the project is changed - those tags will be removed, and your behavior reported accordingly. Of course, if it is changed, it'll be a whole other problem. -- Director (talk) 23:26, 16 December 2012 (UTC)

- WhiteWriter, you started this discussion - and its the proper thing to do. If the project's stated scope is changed to include those articles, you should restore the tag. However, if you wish to keep this out of sysop noticeboards, you should refrain from the MASSIVE edit war until such a time. That's my advice, anyway. If you feel this belongs on such a noticeboard, by all means - continue. You might as well post a thread yourself then. -- Director (talk) 23:27, 16 December 2012 (UTC)

- Although not a member of WikiProject Serbia, I too agree with WhiteWriter's position. It is up to the project itself to define its scope, and if it is "Serbia and the Serbs and all Serbian-related things", then any article could be tagged, as long as there is a strong connection to the scope. That's how WikiProject Greece and other national WikiProjects have done it since their establishment. Of course, there are cases when adding the tag is clearly meant to stake out national territory, e.g. tagging a village that came under Serbian control for a few years or even decades at one point but has no further notability with regards to the Serbian nation, or the rather bizarre case of Albert Einstein being tagged for WikiProject Albania because he held an Albanian passport at one point. These should be reverted, but I don't think that tagging something with "Serb" in its very name that happens to be in a different country than Serbia is such a case. - Also, same logical nonpolitical/non-nationalistic conclusion was concluded on two different places. Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Council (If the group of people at WP Serbia actually want to support an article, then they may tag it. That group of people is free to support and tag any article at all, even if it has nothing to do with Serbia.) and the second one at Wikipedia:Village pump (miscellaneous) (I think that should be all right, as they relate to Serbia.) / (WP:PROJGUIDE#OWN. It's up to the members of the project.) --WhiteWriterspeaks 00:20, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- Well, you are kinda right that it maybe will be more polite that I use English but it was easier for me to write in SC. Still, I'd rather hear from you comments about my examples and quite consensus among members that this is part of the project scope. I do not want to be arrogant nor to hurt your pride, but I think you need to stop this "pretty huge edit war" which you started. As you can see from my expls my interpretation of WP on talk pages have pretty broad agreement on wikipedia and is in full compliance with Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide#WikiProjects do not own articles. For this reason, I invite you to stop threatening all of us with sanctions because we do not agree with you and that you do not disturb other editors in editing as they do not disturb you. - Comment. As a member of WP Croatia, I've been invited by MirkoS18 to comment on this issue. This is what I'd like to say:
- Every project is free to define its own scope, based on its members' consensus.
- While the scope is seemingly easy to define (for WP Croatia it's "Croatia and the Croats"), there are many gray areas. Some of the not-so-straightforward cases have been mentioned in this discussion.
- Scope-related decisions should be influenced by "common sense" (or even "good taste", if you will), not just purely encyclopedic considerations. (For example, it would obviously be a bad idea to put a WP Croatia banner on articles such as Zemun.) However, matters of common sense are not easy to define either.
- Editors should definitely refrain from removing WP banners of projects of which they are not members. (except when correcting blatant errors). Again, the ultimate authority rests with the project.
- I can't comment on what is or should be the scope of this project, I can only urge the participants of this discussion to be as constructive as possible: time wasted here is gone, and can't be used for improving Wikipedia. GregorB (talk) 09:36, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- I don't know. I just know that you'd be hard pressed to find a more controversial tagging than Mirko's addition of Republika Srpska and the Krajina to WP Serbia. I mean, that's the whole war right there. Obviously, Vojvodina in such a case might certainly warrant inclusion into WP Croatia. Or Sandžak into WP Bosnia and Herzegovina, etc. etc. I think its a bad idea to go there, and I think we should just keep to the specific scopes. OR, we could merge the Wikiprojects? Perhaps the Croats should dispatch a delegation to discuss terms... :) -- Director (talk) 12:04, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- I can see what are you trying to do. Direktor, no, tagging WPSERBIA on those articles will not create Yugoslavia again, dont worry. Except you, nobody thinks that this is political issue. Rest of us dont care about it. It looks like you should do some reverting. --WhiteWriterspeaks 15:33, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

I think the neutral solution would be to start WikiProject Serbs and then tag with that, so there's no ambiguity. I remember mentioning something similar to Mirko earlier - there could also be a Serbs task force of WP Croatia that would also be a solution for that part. WikiProject Serb Orthodox Church also comes to mind as a possibility. In this context this doesn't seem far-fetched since there's a separate project for Belgrade already. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 11:00, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
- Yes. But in the mean time, before creation of those separate task forces and projects, WPSERBIA is only one that is appropriate. --WhiteWriterspeaks 11:20, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
- Serbs are already within the scope of this project. Joy's attempt to divide this WikiProject to Serbia and Serbs is disruptive.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 12:04, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
- I do not think that he had a bad intention. Task force or Project can be a useful thing. I'm thinking about WP or task force Republika Srpska and/or Serbs in Western Balkans. I'm interested in second one because I write about Serbs in Croatia for now. I think that even if we want to do that task force at WP Serbia/Jugoslavia/Ethnic groups would be fully sufficient. However, this is just an idea, I do not think for now we need to spend too much energy on it. I do not say this as an excuse to maintain the status quo, I'm just in fear that new task force and/or WP would be very inactive and non-productive and will probably die after some time.--MirkoS18 (talk) 03:04, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
- Not all of them - the project intro says "Serbia and Serbians", which is reasonably interpreted as particular Serbs of Serbia or at least Serbs with a clear link to Serbia. Heck, the Croatian project intro uses the more generic ethnonym, yet nobody wants to tag everything related to all Croats everywhere. (Perhaps you should consider how your endless axe-grinding is what's disruptive.) --Joy [shallot] (talk) 12:17, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

- That article is supposed to be about Despot Đorđe Branković, but an IP user deleted the text and changed the article's subject to Count Đorđe Branković. I reverted it to the last revision before the IP's input, i.e., to the intended subject of the article, which is also linked as such in other articles. An article about the Count Branković should be created, but the IP's unsourced text, with claims unsupported by sources I consulted, is not quite the best option for it. Some parts of it, though, could be useful. As the IP already created Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Djordje brankovic (count), I moved his text back to that page. Also, some kind of warning could be given to the IP regarding such removals and changes of contents. I'll see later about the article on the Count (if someone doesn't beats me to it). Help needed with mystery murders
[edit]Can someone suggest a Cyrillic-Serbian spelling of Renici or Renczi? Or better, can someone look for sources circa 1925 about this alleged mass murder committed by a woman supposedly called Vera Renczi (or thereabouts) at Zrenjanin whom Romanians call Becicherecul and which was anglicized as Berkerkul? It seems to be fiction, although widely reported fiction, but who knows... Alas there are no dates about her supposed deeds, other than the earliest when the story was reported, May 19, 1925. If someone looks in a week worth of a main Serbian newspaper at the time, they should be able to find a story (if it's not a bogus event), because this was reported worldwide. 86.121.18.17 (talk) 01:28, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

Collaboration of the week/month/quarter?
[edit] Discussion ongoing...
It would be maybe useful to join efforts of the members of this project to be focused to improve the quality of very important articles within the scope of this project. Maybe establishing some kind of Collaboration of the week/month/quarter would be useful? If members of this project support this idea I think it would be good to define:
- Time span
- List of the tasks
- Interested participants
- procedure for nominating and election of the editor who would receive some kind of barnstar for their contribution
I propose:
- for the beginning of this kind of collaboration, and also taking in consideration summer vacations period, time span to be III quarter of 2013?
- Tasks I think could be the subject of the "WikiProject Serbia Collaboration of the III quarter 2013" are:
- expansion and perhaps redesigning of the templates listed in the above post and
- writing articles about redlinked monasteries within Template:Serbian Orthodox monasteries because they are of significant importance for this project
- Editors who are interested to participate in this collaboration can sign below (using three tildes --~~~):
- --Antidiskriminator (talk)
- --Правичност (talk))
- ----Zoupan
- ....

Call for research participants
[edit]Dear Wikipedians, we are a Croatian team of researchers who are looking at the editing dynamics on different language Wikipedias and are focusing specifically on the topic of Kosovo. We are looking for editors who have participated in editing, or discussing, articles about this topic, and who would be willing to be interviewed for the purpose of this research project. This is a project approved by the Wikimedia Foundations´ Research Committee and you can find more information on this meta-wiki page. Research results will be published under an open access license and your participation would be much appreciated. If you would like to participate you can reach us at our talk page or directly at interwikiresearch@gmail.com and we will set up an interview in a way that best suits your needs.
The usage of Ћ (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) is under discussion, see talk:Ћ -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 10:25, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
The Project and task forces
[edit]There are some inactive and small Serbia-related WikiProjects that ought to be converted into WikiProject Serbia. These include WikiProject Belgrade and WikiProject University of Belgrade. The WikiProject should be more organized.--Zoupan 04:40, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Serbia
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Serbia/History task force (still under construction)
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Serbia/Belgrade task force (to be converted from Wikipedia:WikiProject Belgrade)
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Serbia/Cultural Heritage task force (to be converted from Wikipedia:WikiProject Cultural Heritage of Serbia)
What do you think?--Zoupan 06:01, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
- I agree and propose to merge those taskforces directly into WP Serbia which within a reasonable period of time (up to one year) remain inactive.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 09:08, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
- Agree - although I am only an occasional editor on Serbia topics. In ictu oculi (talk) 13:52, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

Removal of Serbian name across 100 articles
[edit]Sigh. An editor has removed ć from a famous Serbian citizen across 100 articles. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you the name of the famous Serbian citizen selected for this treatment. Although the removal is evidently WP:POINTY I am not going to be the one to revert these edits. In ictu oculi (talk) 06:09, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
- Make that 150 articles, including Serbian culture. In ictu oculi (talk) 17:37, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
@In ictu oculi: Which "famous citizen" are you referring to? 23 editor (talk) 15:10, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hi 23 editor. I think most editors here know, but you can see from the diff on Serbian culture: Ana Ivanovic - the only bio on en.wp which has had the ć deliberately removed, contrary to WP:TENNISNAMES and WP:TENNISNAMES2 RfC. Contrary also to 100,000s of Turkish, Czech, French, Spanish bios remain titled in full script, this one Serbian citizen has been selected for an "English name." In ictu oculi (talk) 03:39, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
- User:Joy, the reason for the above post is to let the Project know Project articles are affected. If you have a problem with me notifying the Project you could have said so here. As I have said before, here, the long term approach is fixing up MOS pages, such as WP:SERBIANNAMES and having them formally adopted as guidelines by RfC, as WP:FRMOS for example. In ictu oculi (talk) 03:32, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
- Well, the issue has fallen off ANI unresolved. That still leaves the question, why is WP:MONGOLIANNAMES a guideline, but WP:SERBIANNAMES isn't? In ictu oculi (talk) 03:27, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

Article names for royalty and nobility: Primary topic
[edit]I've seen a lot of article names that should be fixed. Let's begin discussing names of monarchs and lords.--Zoupan 18:51, 2 October 2013 (UTC) By primary topic:
- Stephen Uroš IV Dušan of Serbia - Stefan Dušan
- Stephen Dragutin of Serbia - Stefan Dragutin
- Stephen Uroš II Milutin of Serbia - Stefan Milutin
- Stefan Radoslav of Serbia - Stefan Radoslav
- Stephen Vladislav I of Serbia - Stefan Vladislav
- Vukan Nemanjić of Serbia - Vukan Nemanjić
- It is necessary(?) to follow Wikipedia:Naming conventions (royalty and nobility). There is related discussion at Talk:Princess Milica of Serbia.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 18:55, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
- No, it is not necessary (read the intro) - though #2 supports the above anyways.--Zoupan 21:02, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
- You are right. I deliberately used question mark to indicate this convention is only a recommendation. There are advantages and disadvantages of both solutions. Why do you think that version without Serbia is more appropriate?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 10:18, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
- Reliable sources don't usually append the "of Serbia" suffix. It's not a name (unlike, say, Cécile de France) and it's not a meaningful title. It might be useful as a disambiguator in the unlikely event that there is a notable non-Serbian person with the same name. In cases where there is a Serbian person with the same name (ie. a member of the same house, perhaps a different regnal number) then "of Serbia" would be a terrible disambiguator. bobrayner (talk) 10:46, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

AfD - Emanuilo Janković
[edit]Hi all, I've nominated the article Emanuilo Janković for deletion because it's very confusing and appears to contain some bizarre copypasta. Since this may be of interest to the Serbian WikiProject, I thought I'd invite project members to weigh in, and more importantly, to help beef up the article. I'm not familiar with the subject, but he does seem to be a notable Serbian figure. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 01:29, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
Death of the collaboration of the week/month/quarter?
[edit]At this discussion it was agreed to start some collaborative efforts on quarterly basis. This idea was supported by small number of editors but was not realized. I did create several articles on monasteries and brought them to DYK level but the point was on collaboration to improve certain topic, not on individual actions. Can I conclude that this idea is officially dead? Maybe lack of response from other editors was result of the Summer season vacations and field works? Any thoughts?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 10:14, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
- ( I will do my share of monasteries soon ) Let's bump this collaboration, there are several active users.--Zoupan 19:39, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
- Does bump mean to raise or to dismiss?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 20:50, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
Although I earlier nominated this for deletion for BLP issues, I have tried to rescue this article using the best sources I can find. At this point, however, I am still doubtful about the notability of this person. After extensive searching, I have found only 3 English-language reliable sources on which to base the article. Two of these sources make it clear that there is coverage of this person in Serbian newspapers, TV, and possibly other Serbian RS. Furthermore, there are many Serbian-language Youtube recordings of his pseudo-historical lectures. I don't know any Serbian, so I cannot use any of these possible sources to improve the article. I am therefore bringing it to this project in hopes that you kind folks may help. Thanks. --Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 19:32, 22 October 2013 (UTC)
Wizz Air Serbia article to be deleted
[edit]There is an article on Wizz Air Serbia, although such an airline was never established (or is no longer around). I am going to delete the article tomorrow and thought I should post it here. User:Thakaran 18:09, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
- Its better to make an RfD and see the outcome. FkpCascais (talk) 18:29, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
- I have absolutely no idea what RfD stands for but even if I did I probably wouldn't know how to start one, so I would really appreciate it if you could help me with that by starting it or telling me how to. Thanks! User:Thakaran 18:51, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
- No problem, here it is all explained Wikipedia:Deletion process. However, after you posted the issue here, I took a look at the issue and I really couldn´t find any evdence about a separate Wizz Air Serbia airline. So, unless I´m missing something or if someone else knows something about it, I would recomend simply to redirect the article to Wizz Air. FkpCascais (talk) 15:16, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

Done! Thanks. --Svetisrdj (talk) 14:56, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
I have one question about DYK. I made an article Old house (Pirot) and I want to nominate it, but it's written 1 month ago and I wasn't know when I write an article which I want to nominate must not be older than 5 days so my question is may I nominate it or not because I expanded it about few days ago? --LordMilan85 (talk) 15:08, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
- Read rule D9 (link). It says "Five days old" limit should be strictly enforced only if there is a large backlog of hooks. Otherwise nominated article may still be approved if it were created or expanded after the oldest date listed in Template talk:Did you know#Older nominations. Since the oldest date listed in Template talk:Did you know#Older nominations is well before October 12 you can still nominate the article.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 17:37, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

Popular pages tool update
[edit]As of January, the popular pages tool has moved from the Toolserver to Wikimedia Tool Labs. The code has changed significantly from the Toolserver version, but users should notice few differences. Please take a moment to look over your project's list for any anomalies, such as pages that you expect to see that are missing or pages that seem to have more views than expected. Note that unlike other tools, this tool aggregates all views from redirects, which means it will typically have higher numbers. (For January 2014 specifically, 35 hours of data is missing from the WMF data, which was approximated from other dates. For most articles, this should yield a more accurate number. However, a few articles, like ones featured on the Main Page, may be off).
Web tools, to replace the ones at tools:~alexz/pop, will become available over the next few weeks at toollabs:popularpages. All of the historical data (back to July 2009 for some projects) has been copied over. The tool to view historical data is currently partially available (assessment data and a few projects may not be available at the moment). The tool to add new projects to the bot's list is also available now (editing the configuration of current projects coming soon). Unlike the previous tool, all changes will be effective immediately. OAuth is used to authenticate users, allowing only regular users to make changes to prevent abuse. A visible history of configuration additions and changes is coming soon. Once tools become fully available, their toolserver versions will redirect to Labs.
If you have any questions, want to report any bugs, or there are any features you would like to see that aren't currently available on the Toolserver tools, see the updated FAQ or contact me on my talk page. Mr.Z-bot (talk) (for Mr.Z-man) 05:25, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

Question
[edit]What ever happened to User:WhiteWriter? Just curious. 23 editor (talk) 18:07, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
- Administrator who deleted their userpage can answer your question.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 19:45, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
Which one would that be? The userspace no longer has a history. 23 editor (talk) 20:49, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
- Tadija / WhiteWriter's account is now here. The history still exists. That account does not edit any more, but he does still seem to be editing by other means. Ditto on sr.wikipedia. bobrayner (talk) 21:27, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
- I don't know who deleted their account. According to Wikipedia:Username policy "It is not possible to delete user accounts, as all contributions must be assigned to some identifier". Some administrator obviously deleted their account. Like I said, if you want to get answer to your question, try to find administrator who deleted their userpage.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 21:40, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
- The account has not been deleted. It's now here. The talkpage history still exists, the edits still exist, and so on. For instance, look at this signed talkpage edit. That account does not edit any more, but he does still seem to be editing by other means. Ditto on sr.wikipedia. bobrayner (talk) 21:27, 9 March 2014 (UTC)

- Thats talkpage of another account.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 22:09, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
- No. It's the same account; the account was renamed. Accounts cannot be deleted, but sometimes they are renamed. Look at the account's edits; you have seen them before. Who do you think wrote this on your talkpage? It's not a forgery. bobrayner (talk) 20:12, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
- Interesting. The question of course is "why?". 23 editor (talk) 20:15, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
- No record of renaming in username log page.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 22:25, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
- There is evidence on that log, left by the same admin who made some other relevant edits. However, I don't want to have to keep explaining every detail; he wanted privacy. bobrayner (talk) 22:40, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
Project scope
[edit]I think that article Republic of Crimea is beyond WP Serbia scope and therefore suggest that we remove it from article talk page? I know that we have some experienced editors on Kosovo topic but I think that we need to "send" them to take part in discussion personally. Especially if adopted practices can affect Kosovo case. But still I think we should remove WP Serbia from Republic of Crimea talk page. All the best.--MirkoS18 (talk) 21:51, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
- Sources connect Republic of Crimea with Serbia/Kosovo case so it should remain within scope of WP Serbia.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 22:24, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

The article Persecution of Ottoman Muslims has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- The article is a compilation of original research and POV propaganding a fringe theory on persecutions of Muslim's in their own state during the centuries. This naming and topic are not supported by neutral academic sources.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Lkahd (talk) 20:16, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

Leaflet For Wikiproject Serbia At Wikimania 2014
[edit]Hi all,
My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.
One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.

Living people on EN wiki who are dead on other wikis
[edit]The following individuals who are in the scope of this project are showing to be alive on the English wiki, but deceased on another language wiki:
- Petar Manola: it:Morti nel 2004 / ru:Персоналии, чья дата смерти не установлена
- Nebojša Popović (handballer): sv:Avlidna 2001
Please help to find reliable sources to confirm if these individuals are alive or dead, or correct any mis-categorization on the relevant foreign-language article(s). Please see WP:LIVINGDEAD for more info and raise any issues on the talkpage. Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 08:58, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
- Nebojša Popović was mistake on sv.wiki. I could not find any source for death of Petar Manola. I would appreciate help of fellow editors who are better acquainted with football. FkpCascais?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 22:22, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you Antidiskriminator, seems that Manola indeed parished in 2004 according to this football specialised website (EU-Football.info). I´ll make further research and add it to the article. FkpCascais (talk) 04:31, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

Srem District
[edit]One user moved article Srem District to Syrmia District. Is thios a good thing or not? Is it really like that for Serbia, or only for Croatian reagion? --Ąnαșταη (ταlκ) 17:18, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- I think we should move this discussion to Talk:Syrmia because it looks like this 'normalization' took place for the Croatian county first, but may be equally as pointless as in the case of the Serbian district. I recently looked up the former in Google Books and found just a single hit. If reliable sources don't refer to these administrative units using the generic term, then it makes no real sense to force its use. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 19:07, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- I don't agree. If somebody wants to propose renaming the article on Srem District, the RM discussion should take place on its talkpage. --Antidiskriminator (talk) 19:11, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- Antidiskriminator is absolutelly right, there shoud be a proper RfM. FkpCascais (talk) 21:47, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

- That goes without saying. What I'm saying is that the implicit rationale is shaky. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 22:46, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
Unknown-importance Serbia articles
[edit]I would like to pay attention to members of this WikiProject to the large number of unknown-importance Serbia articles (link). At this moment there are 4,456 articles which belong to this WikiProject with non-assessed importance. Almost 1/3 of all articles. I know that there are a few of active members of this wikiproject, but coordinated action of small number of active members might help resolving this issue. I can testify that assessing articles during this warm Summer days can be relaxing, even at vacation. All the best.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 13:29, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
Pleas add information about this country to this articles.--Kaiyr (talk) 09:23, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
Help from Serbian speaker, please
[edit]I've blocked the static 95.180.123.154 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) several times for intransigence and unresponsiveness. The last time, I asked on WP:ANI for help from a Serbian speaker to talk to the editor, see [9]. But I guess it wasn't likely that some such would happen to see it there. Can you help? I don't think the editor means to be disruptive, but they have never used an edit summary or edited a talkpage, and the changes they make are all to do with figures. The reason they're so unresponsive may be because they don't know they have a talkpage (it happens) but it may also be because they don't speak English. Could somebody from here please try to talk to him/her on their talkpage and explain why they keep getting blocked? I just got a new request for a block,[10] and it may have to come to that, but I'd just like to try this first. Bishonen | talk 10:05, 28 August 2014 (UTC).
Serbian
[edit]I see many articles that have a Serbian word (such as the article name) start like this: Veliki Krš (Serbian: Велики крш). I also see many articles that start like this: Veliki Krš (Serbian Cyrillic: Велики крш). What should be used for all Serbian articles: Serbian or Serbian Cyrillic? Why? Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
[edit]Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:48, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
Notability question
[edit]Is Stefan Lalic notable? If so, please help with sourcing on what is a WP:BLP article to get it to a salvageable state. If not, please nominate it for deletion. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 00:52, 23 October 2014 (UTC)
Expert attention
[edit]This is a notice about Category:Serbia articles needing expert attention, which might be of interest to your WikiProject. It will take a while before the category is populated. Iceblock (talk) 23:20, 25 October 2014 (UTC)
Some editors are making unilateral changes and doing their best to make the template almost obsolete. I am asking people please to participate more in order to keep consensus alive. FkpCascais (talk) 17:53, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
- You should stop canvassing. I notice that you didn't notify WikiProject Kosovo, even though this concerns the Kosovo manual of style rather than Serbia. This is because you only wanted people who would support your side of the discussion. bobrayner (talk) 18:20, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
I've suggested turning this redirect into an article on the rivalry between Serbia and Albania, see Talk:Serbia v Albania -- 67.70.35.44 (talk) 04:34, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

Copyright problem in Tourism in Serbia
[edit]Hi. Unfortunately, copyright issues were discovered in this article about two weeks ago. It was blanked and listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2014 November 5. Investigation shows that the oldest edit is a copyright problem as well, as it duplicates material published at MIT. (You can see more at that page.) Because of this, the article needs to be rewritten. Is anyone here able to help? If I handle it as an admin who works copyright, I'll save as much as I can, but it could really use attention from somebody with time and background in this area, who can more quickly locate resources to build a proper article. If you're willing to help out, directions for how and where are on the template blanking the article, in the section beginning, "Can you help resolve this issue?" --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:18, 20 November 2014 (UTC)
