Song information
Produced by Steve Chrisanthou, the song debuted into the UK Singles Chart at number two and was kept off the top spot by Madonna's "Sorry". The song's opening line, "Three little birds sat on my window/And they tell me I don't need to worry", is a reference to Bob Marley & The Wailers' 1977 hit song "Three Little Birds".
"Put Your Records On" enjoyed a wealth of critical and commercial acclaim[cita requerida] which helped the album achieve number one in its first week of release. The track topped the UK Official Download Chart and the UK R&B Singles Chart; it was also a hit on radio, reaching at least number two on the UK Airplay Chart. However, the single did not fare as well in the United States, peaking at number 64 on the Billboard Hot 100. As of March 1, 2006, Rae became only the second female solo act to top the UK Official Download Chart in history.[cita requerida] It remains Bailey Rae's biggest hit single in the UK to date, and the only one to reach the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart.
The acoustic version of this song was a featured Free Single of the Week on the Canadian and the US iTunes Store.
The song earned a Grammy Award nomination for Song of the Year and Record of the Year in 2007.[1]
