The Jingtai era ((中文)) was the Chinese era used by the Jingtai Emperor, the seventh emperor of China's Ming dynasty, from 14 January 1450 until his deposition on 11 February 1457. On 11 February 1457, Emperor Yingzong took advantage of the Jingtai Emperor's serious illness and inability to attend court, launching the "Duomen Coup" (奪門之變, 'Storming of the Gates Incident') and reclaiming his imperial throne. On 15 February of the same year, Emperor Yingzong changed the era to the Tianshun era.[1][2]
