Non-promotional edits

[edit]

I had tried to make edits to the page of an org, but I had notifications saying that the edits were promotional. Our intent was not to be advertising, only informational. We will look for other third-source citations. Can you identify any portion of the attempted edits to Center for Bio-Ethical Reform that seemed “promotional”? That was not our purpose in doing the update. Is information from our own site about what our projects are not allowed? Many of the citations were old or pertained to other organizations, or were news citations with links that no longer worked. Thank you. ASing16 (talk) 18:03, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your very first edits were to add the organisations "mission statement", followed by text directly from the organisations website. Wikipedia articles should allways be from a Neutral point of view and they are not designed to 'advertise' or 'promote' anything.
Advertising, marketing, publicity, or public relations.
Information about companies and products must be written in an objective and unbiased style, free of puffery. All article topics must be verifiable with independent, third-party sources, so articles about very small garage bands or local companies are typically unacceptable. Wikipedia articles about a person, company, or organization are not an extension of their website, press releases, or other social media marketing efforts. External links to commercial organizations are acceptable if they identify notable organizations which are the topic of the article. Wikipedia neither endorses organizations nor runs affiliate programs. See also Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) for guidelines on corporate notability. Those promoting causes or events, or issuing public service announcements, even if noncommercial, should use a forum other than Wikipedia to do so. Contributors must disclose any payments they receive for editing Wikipedia
By your own words, you also have a Conflict of Interest in regards to this article. Please read the linked guideline regarding editing articles in which you have a coi or even a paid conflict. - Happysailor (Talk) 19:36, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
