Articles for deletion nomination of Cardiff Bay Yacht Club
I have nominated Cardiff Bay Yacht Club, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cardiff Bay Yacht Club. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. ttonyb (talk) 23:16, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
To our newest Rollbacker
I have just granted you rollback rights because I believe you to be trustworthy, and because you have a history of reverting vandalism and have given in the past or are trusted in the future to give appropriate warnings. Please have a read over WP:ROLLBACK and remember that rollback is only for use against obvious vandalism. Please use it that way (it can be taken away by any admin at a moment's notice). You may want to consider adding {{Rollback}} and {{User rollback}} to your userpage. Any questions, please drop me a line. Best of luck and thanks for volunteering! upstateNYer 04:03, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
Broken signature link
Hi. Just a heads up, I noticed the link to your userpage in your signature doesn't work. It leads to User:HappySailor, rather than User:Happysailor, the difference being the capital "s" in sailor. Might want to fix this ;) Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 22:43, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion Converted to PROD: Aashi
Hello Happysailor, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I have changed a page you tagged (Aashi) from being tagged for speedy deletion to being tagged for proposed deletion. The speedy deletion criteria are very narrow to protect the encyclopedia, and do not fit the page in question. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. Thanks again! Skomorokh, barbarian 12:46, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Proposed Speedy Deletion of User:Faisalmahmud1
Hi there. Noticed you put a spam speedy delete proposal on User:Faisalmahmud1. I tagged several pages that user created last night with a speedy delete tag but am not sure why this tag is now on his user page. Was this a mistake? It's just a description of who the user is, just like anybody else's user page :). Ginsengbomb (talk) 18:50, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Translation to Dutch
Dear Happysailor,
Can you please advise me? On the english wiki there are a group of articles about the Vintage Yachting Games. The Vintage is a four yearly event that is replacing the Olympic sailing event for the Olympic classes that has been discontinued. in 2008 5 classes entered the raches and probably in 2012 there will be 10. These articles live in the en Wiki now for over a year. Since the Vintage is origionally a Dutch idea I took it for granted that it was welcomed on the Dutch wiki as well..... I have now severe trouble to let these translated articles survive. What can I do?

Reviewer permission
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:27, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

- Unfortunately, that article was deleted under a WP:AFD tag which is where other editors look to see if the article is notable and is acceptable to Wikipedia standards. Looking at the discussion, while short, determined that the company does not meet WP:COMPANY. This is why it was deleted.

Sparkle shop
I see you tagged Sparkle shop for speedy deletion with {{db-repost}} (CSD G4). However, this criterion applies only after a deletion discussion, not after an earlier speedy deletion, and I could find no history of a discussion, so I have declined the speedy deletion. If you still think the article should be deleted you could use another speedy deletion, such as CSD A7, or you could use a PROD or an AfD. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:32, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Hyaluronidase
hi, i've never actually edited anything on wikipedia before, and didn't really know what i was doing. thank you for fixing my edit on the page "Hyaluronidase". However, i was actually trying to edit the "role in fertilisation". I am a second year science student studying developmental biology, and i found the information already up there was actually incorrect according to my text books and lectures - that hyaluronidase does not play a role in the acrosome reaction at all. any more help would be appreciated. thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Baree2 (talk • contribs) 23:50, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- Hi there and welcome to Wikipedia. The only problem with your edit was that you placed it after the references tag in the article rather than where you wanted it. If you are only going to edit a specific section of an article, use the edit link next to the section title rather than the main edit link at the top of the page. This means that you only open that section for editing and can;t really go wrong then.
- If you need any more help, feel free to ask, but do also look at some of the help pages on the site starting at WP:Introduction. One useful one (even though it's about actually starting an article) is WP:YFA - Happysailor (Talk) 20:07, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Thank-you for your edit on the ILD page. A question I have is that the source cited in the article a third party verifiable source and hence the notice that is on the page will be removed? i.e the notice This article needs references that appear in reliable third-party publications. Primary sources or sources affiliated with the subject are generally not sufficient for a Wikipedia article. Please add more appropriate citations from reliable sources.
Again thank-you for your help!

Split and Merge tags
I'm really pleased that someone else is looking into these as it takes me a long while to work through them. However I am concerned that you may at times be removing the tags without giving due consideration to the reason why people are suggesting an article be split or merged. I will remove a split tag if there is no rationale on the talkpage AND there is no obvious reason, but I wouldn't just remove a tag because there's been no discussion. This is obvious, and so is this, especially when looking at the comment on the talkpage. Would you mind going back over the tags you have removed and reconsidering each one. It can take a moment or two, and if you are unsure, then sometimes the best course of action is to leave the tag in place for someone else to look at. If you would like a second opinion I am always available. SilkTork *YES! 22:22, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
- Hi there, When looking at these tags im looking at the talk pages of both articles looking for discussion on the subject and if there is, reading through it to see if there is a consensus. If there is a consensus to not split/merge, then I am deleting the tags in question and archiving the discussion. If the consensus is to go ahead with the split/merge, for now, I am leaving the articles alone untli I have time to look into actively going ahead with the change.
- If no discussion is found, I am looking at the articles to see why they may have been tagged, and if I can't see a valid reason to merge/split the article I will remove the tags. I am also looking at the history to see who tagged the article and to see if they put in the edit summary why they tagged it.
- The two articles you provided diffs for, must have slipped past me, however looking at the second diff, I'm not sure if it would warrant a split tag, as the article just needs to be rewritten to remove Horace from it (as he has his own article already) and remane the article to just James Smith (author)? - Happysailor (Talk) 22:45, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
- You're getting the idea. It's a frustrating little job, which is why it often doesn't get done, and we have tags going back years! It can mean doing a fair amount of tidying up, when you realise what has to be done. And it can take a bit of reading or thinking to work out why someone has made a request in the first place. The basic assumption should be that there was a reason for the request, and to look carefully for that reason, assess it, and make a decision based on policy and guidelines if the request is appropriate. Sometimes the reason can't be found; though I would say that tends to be less than 5% of the requests. Lack of discussion is unhelpful, but the majority of tags don't have associated discussions - even POV tags, which I feel nearly always require an explanation.
- I'd welcome a second opinion at times. If this is work you like doing, would you mind if I consulted you now and again on a split or merge decision? I don't tend to watch people's talkpages, so a response on my talkpage would be helpful. Regards SilkTork *YES! 15:51, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Article Wizard submission declined
Thank you for your message. When I tried to find Wikipedia article Night of Emancipation I got a page that said 'Start the Night of Emancipation article, using the Article Wizard if you wish, or add a request for it'. Pressing 'Article Wizard' I got a page that did not mention redirecting at all. The next page did, but only said 'your proposed page title might usefully be redirected there'. It did not say this was wrong place for proposing a redirecting. My point is this page should also say 'and you can request redirecting at Articles for creation/Wizard-Redirects', otherwise the user who wants to propose does not know this is wrong place. I cannot edit that page but it is Wikipedia:Article wizard/Subject. 75.79.71.222 (talk) 18:42, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
Article Submission
Hey there Happysailor. I am writing you due to your rejection of my article submission for 1-800-Law-firm. And I just wanted some clarification on why it was rejected. I was not trying to create an "add" for it. I was just talking about the company and what they do. As far as the references goes I noticed that on the Honigman law page [1] that they have no references or resources listed and yet they are published. Did I perhaps label the page wrong? Any clarification you could give me would be appreciated. I am just attempting to create an informational page for the company.
1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honigman_Miller_Schwartz_and_Cohn Wildfiremedia (talk) 16:03, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
- Hi there, your submission was declined, because to me it read more like an advertisement for the firm than an article (See WP:SOAP). There were also no reliable & independent sources for the contents of the article (See WP:SOURCES) or any assersion of notability (see WP:N)
- If you can re-write the article so that it passes these policies, then by all means re-nominate it for creation and it should be created.
- In terms of you mentioning the other article, it does have some sources presnt, and asserts some notability, however please see WP:OSE for more info on comparing articles.
- I hope this helped - Happysailor (Talk) 18:38, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Clarification for why my article for creation was rejected
My article on Douglas B. Rasmussen used his faculty page at St. John's University, where he is employed, as its primary reference. The secondary reference was his CATO Institute page, where he has also worked. I do not understand how these do not qualify as reliable sources. What could be a more reliable source than a person's place of employment?
CvaughanCEE (talk) 21:42, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi there, All articles must be sourced by reliable, third-party (independent), published sources (See WP:SOURCE) The two sites you mentioned are not independent of the subject as they are his employer(s).
- All you need to do is have a read through the Verifiability page (liked above and in the submission) and try and add more third-party (i.e. independent) sources to the article. If you can do that, then you can re-submit the article for Articles for Creation again.
- I would also suggest you take a look at WP:FIRST which does through what you need to do to create a new article (take special attention to point #4). - Happysailor (Talk) 21:49, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
Declined speedy WW1 Egyptian Camel Transport Corps
I declined the speedy WW1 Egyptian Camel Transport Corps because a redirect to Egyptian Camel Transport Corps was better than an A10 speedy deletion. Thanks. —MC10 (T•C•GB•L) 18:10, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
- lol, i agree - i must have been in a trance not to just plonk a redirect in there myself :/ Thanks - Happysailor (Talk) 18:47, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
Rejection of Submission re: Steven W. Plattner
I wanted to followup with you as to why this submission was rejected. I saw your comment that "We cannot accept blank suggestions." Are you saying that you only you didn't receive the body of the article submitted on this topic? If that's the case, is there any way to find or ressurect it? It was composed on the submission form, so unless there is some way to locate it, it will have to be redone. I clearly recall clicking on the "Save Page" button before submitting it. If there is some other reason that I don't understand as to why it wasn't accepted, I would appreciate knowing the reason(s). Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Synonymousvw (talk • contribs) 19:22, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi there, the reason the submission was declined was as stated - the submission was blank. If you look at this link [2], this is the only other edit to the page (and was the creation of the page) by yourself. There was simply no contents.
- As the declined notice states, you are more than welcome to make improvements (or indeed add content) and resubmit the article for AFC again. However only add the {{AFC submission/submit}} once you feel the article is ready. - Happysailor (Talk) 19:37, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
Please explain
Please explain why a user who posted content on the mainspace and posted it on their userpage still qualifies it as blatant vandalism. [3]. Steven Zhang The clock is ticking.... 08:34, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
- A user deleted a speedy deletion tag from a page that was tagged as blatant advertising.. This is classed as vandalism. I am wondering why you decided to revert the user who blanked their own user page though? - Happysailor (Talk) 08:36, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
- Because they were clearly irritated. Their page was tagged in mainspace, and rightly so, as it doesn't belong there, so they moved it to their userpage, where you speedy tagged it again. I don't see a huge problem with it on their userpage. Do you? If so, why? Steven Zhang The clock is ticking.... 08:43, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
- I suggest you look at the timeline of both pages. They created the article in their own userpage before they put it in mainspace (fine, they were creating a draft). The mainspace page was tagged for a speedy and they put a hangon tag on the page (fine, this is what they are allowed to do). They then put a hangon tag on their own userpage suggesting to me they kno0w that page shouldn't be there (and after looking through it imo it shouldn't) so i tagged it as well.
- If you read WP:UPNOT it states that you should avoid substantial content on your user page that is unrelated to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a general hosting service, so your user page is not a personal website
- It also states that examples of unrelated content are:
- Advertising or promotion of an individual, business, organization, group, or viewpoint unrelated to Wikipedia (such as commercial sites or referral links).
- Extensive self-promotional material, especially when not directly relevant to Wikipedia.
- The user also obvioously felt that the page shouldn't be there, as they blanked the whole page. You then reverted this reinstating the text. Are users now not allowed to blank pages in their own userspace? - Happysailor (Talk) 08:49, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

- Alright, I accept I might've been out with the timeline, but back when I used to edit, rules weren't as strong and users were given more leeway with their userspace, simply because being there doesn't hurt anyone. Back then we were a lot nicer to new editors too. I guess that has changed as well. Steven Zhang The clock is ticking.... 08:54, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
Page on Hold: face2face
Hi
This page is on hold needing inline citations...but I added the inline citations yesterday...can you please take another look? Here's the page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/face2face
Thanks! Nieuwenhuis (talk) 13:34, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
- When a page is on hold, it is giving you 24 hours before an editor re-reviews the submissions and makes a determination. You do not need to re-add an afc submission template.
- All I did was to remove the duplicate tag as your submission was still on hold, and would be reviewed again soon. All the extra tag did was to clutter up the page.
- As you can see, Chzz has set the submission to pending again, so an editor will be around shortly to review the article.
- I hope this helped explain what I did. - Happysailor (Talk) 21:19, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aquidneck1 (talk • contribs) 18:24, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi there, right then... None of those refs are visible on the submission page UNLESS you click the edit button (which I didnt do, because refs and the bulk of an article shouldn't be hidden like that) ALl I saw was three lines of text, and that's it.
- All you need to do is to edit the article so that it appears on the page correctly with all the text & references, and then resubmit the article for review. Take a look at WP:MOS for any help you may need. - Happysailor (Talk) 21:22, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Declined because of copyright? For a public domain government site?
Your submission at Articles for creation
Your article submission has been declined, and Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/VA Butler Healthcare was not created. Please do not recreate this article, as it was composed mainly of copyrighted information. Thank you. Happysailor (Talk) 23:20, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
This information, mostly sourced by VA Butler Healthcare's website, is NOT copyrighted. It falls under public domain since it is a government website (sections 106 and 107 of copyright law). In addition, the information provided is quoted and cited as well. This informaiton is provided the same as all the other Department of Veteran Affairs websites (or other government websites).
I am not sure if there is a great depth of understanding of government provided information and its protection under copyright. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Public_domain#U.S._government_works DragonflyDM (Talk) 13:6, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
