If you're going to quote from a source, make sure you do it correctly. In Roy Orbison Sings, you said Billboard "described the album as '[Orbison] best LP shot'? How does that even make sense? What it says in the magazine is "Roy Orbison's best shot on this LP is 'Harlem Woman'"? You cannot paraphrase in a quote. A quote has to be word for word. :Here's another example of your bad quoting from You Were Only Fooling. |
|||
:*In it, you quoted Billboard as saying "his sound is heard on ther current pop hits, his is in a fine voice." Yet that is not the actual quote, which reads across two separate sentence which you ended up combining. One sentence is "the rich Damone sound is heard on other current pop hits"; and another sentence gives examples for which "he is in fine voice". If you're going to quote something, it has to be verbatim. You also make a lot of spelling mistakes. |
|||
:*For the Variety review, you added "it showcase [Damone] in a neat songalog, consisting mostly of recent ballad". The actual quote is "This set...showcases Damone in a neat songalog, consisting mostly of recent ballads." First, you added the word "it" as part of the quote. Why? You removed the plural "s" from showcases and ballads. Why? And then you put brackets around Damone. Why? Do you know when to and when not to use brackets? You also wrote that Variety gave a strong review. It's not strong at all, barely a review at all really. Let the summary of the review speak for itself and allow the reader to decide if it was a good review or not, no need to write that so-and-so gave it a good or bad review. OK? Thanks. <span style="color:blue">Star</span><span style="color:orange">cheers</span><span style="color:green">peaks</span><span style="color:red">news</span>lost<span style="color:blue">wars</span>Talk to me 03:21, 5 December 2024 (UTC) |

[edit]Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that in this edit to Del Shannon Sings Hank Williams, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 23:50, 24 March 2023 (UTC)

More Songs by Ricky
[edit]You created the article for More Songs by Ricky but you did not cite any of your sources. In fact, the source you did use was a complete copy and paste of the entire album review from AllMusic. That is not allowed as it straight out plagiarism. Please summarize using your own words. Your creations are severely lacking and poorly written. They will continue to be moved to draft space until you can display better writing, editing, and use of proper referencing. Thank you. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 23:37, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
- Don't just create the article again at an improperly capitalized title. You are being disruptive and uncooperative. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 00:35, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
Vic Damone (Album) moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Vic Damone (Album), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Vic Damone albums
[edit]A tag has been placed on Category:Vic Damone albums indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Liz Read! When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Please stop your disruptive editing.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. Your moves of albums that fail WP:NMUSIC to mainspace are disruptive, and your use of AFC templates is deceptive, pretending to be a reviewer, which you are patently not. Both these practices must cease. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 08:16, 10 October 2023 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Samchristie05! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:43, 14 October 2023 (UTC)

Over use of quotes

- Samchristie05, this is starting to get a bit out of hand. Considering the long string of articles you have created recently that have all been flagged for notability issues, I highly recommend that you stop moving pages into mainspace for the time being. You can submit your drafts for review at Articles for creation and allow some time for reviewers to check your work before it's made a fully-fledged article. —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 03:53, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Samchristie05: Please read the above. Your recent contributions have included copyright violations as well, even after being warned many times about it before on your talk page. You need to stop, or risk being blocked from editing. The teahouse is a place where you can go to if you need help with our editing policies. I can try to help you as well if you want, but you can't keep copy and pasting copyrighted text into articles and drafts. Deauthorized. (talk) 05:14, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
Playing to Win (Rick Nelson album) moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Playing to Win (Rick Nelson album). Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 04:01, 14 October 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Drafts
[edit]Please refrain from moving articles that are in draft space to mainspace on your own. These are articles that you created but moved to draft space because they are poorly written and poorly sourced. Let the articles be reviewed first by an impartial editor. Honestly, I believe you should not be creating any new articles for the encyclopedia unless they have been reviewed in draft first. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 20:17, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for November 7
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited More Songs by Ricky, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Yes Sir, That's My Baby. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Speedy deletion nomination of Del Shannon sings Hank Williams
[edit]A tag has been placed on Del Shannon sings Hank Williams requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ~~2NumForIce (speak|edits) 23:07, 8 November 2023 (UTC)

Billboard reviews
[edit]It's great that you found another source to use in some of the album articles you've created but make sure they actually say something of note to include. Those Billboard bits are very light and fluffy and including random quotes from them to fill up an article is not productive. And sometimes how your incorporate it into the article doesn't make any sense either, so I have to remove the whole thing. Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 04:12, 29 December 2023 (UTC)

Quick note: I added a bit to The New Sound from England! about its Billboard 200 chart position (with a citation to one of Joel Whitburn's books). Including chart positions to prove notability should help your articles get accepted faster — WP:NALBUM says records are likely to be notable if they appeared on a national music chart. —pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 04:24, 14 April 2024 (UTC) |

Hi I am Sam Christie, known as Samchristieo05 on Wikipedia, a music interest and Wikipedia editor. I have edited Wikipedia since March 2023,
I devote the time I spend here on song and album pages where I feel there's more to contribute. When I started out in 2023 I had been researching old Christmas recordings and saw how singers i love had a page for every album, but Ricky Nelson, Del Shannon, Bobby Vee, Vic Damone didn't. I started putting together rest of the album pages for Nelson and eventually wrote his Ricky Nelson discography, and then I also went through and created pages for Nelson, Vee, Shannon, Damone, that were still missing and put together Their discography. My approach is to write or rewrite all of the album pages in an artist's or band's discography. I've listed the time period of my work on the discographies below since other editors may have made changes since then. Here's what I've created or rewritten: All albums and songs[edit]

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Toggle the table of contents 20th Century Masters – The Millennium Collection: The Best of Rick Nelson
[edit]A tag has been placed on Draft:Toggle the table of contents 20th Century Masters – The Millennium Collection: The Best of Rick Nelson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.
Quotations
[edit]If you're going to quote from a source, make sure you do it correctly. You have been editing pages here for too long now to not get better at this. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:19, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- Here's another example of your bad quoting from You Were Only Fooling.
- In it, you quoted Billboard as saying "his sound is heard on ther current pop hits, his is in a fine voice." Yet that is not the actual quote, which reads across two separate sentence which you ended up combining. One sentence is "the rich Damone sound is heard on other current pop hits"; and another sentence gives examples for which "he is in fine voice". If you're going to quote something, it has to be verbatim. You also make a lot of spelling mistakes.
- For the Variety review, you added "it showcase [Damone] in a neat songalog, consisting mostly of recent ballad". OK? Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 03:21, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
- i think i got it now Samchristie05 (talk) 19:19, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
- speaking of brackets, Do What You Gotta Do (album) did you forgot to remove the brackets right angle on Hot 100? Samchristie05 (talk) 19:21, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
- I reverted this edit you made because the sentence did not make sense. You also again used quotes yet it was not what the source actually said. A quote has to be word for word as I said above. What don't you understand about that? StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 17:12, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
I'm not sure why you are removing italics from album and magazine titles in articles? Can you explain? StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 20:36, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
